Huffin-Puffin

With 1.08 update they increased the Tv of all the planes (by a lot), but the weird thing is they also increased spmed and spsmall too, but they didn't touch the hind, napalm or scamp. It's just a generic 250 now instead of 10 (same as Mammatus), but still, why bother - why even keep them, or the commented out vehicles, in.

 

Edit: this is in handling.dat if it wasn't clear :p

I'm not sure but when I looked it looked to me like spsmall and spmed had similar handling (both like the Lazer) but were both very light. The only area where they varied was weapon data, so my assumption was that they were the enemy Lazers which chase you out of Zancudo when you steal a jet, with the small and med referring to their weapon and dependent on some other variable. From my experience, the Lazer chasing you only ever uses one type of weapon. They're incredibly tough to fight, but its possible that's because before they weren't destroyable and they've changed that with this update and the weight change reflects that.

I can confirm that I've destroyed the Lazers that chase you before the 1.07 update using the missile of a Lazer.

Five weeks ago I came to the point where I thouhgt "Let others find something, I give up".

Now I'm coming back after being told that my posting with the alien overlay was posted here and in some random russian forum too.

You are kind of a hero around here, you were one of the pioneers of the file hunt and your discovery post inspired a lot of the work you see :) it's great to have you back!

 

We've taken the alien runes hud to the next level and we've viewed the animation (not sure if you've seen that):

We still haven't figured out where in the game the alien runes hud appears, the same with the egg, secret weapon and asteroid, so all in all we haven't answered the original basic questions you've stated in your inspirational post.

 

Regarding the railway on the mountain side, I'll be very happy if you can help me track it in the files.. Which rpf is it? If we had a general location we'll know where to look..

Yeah the eggs is michaels tamagotchi you gotta plug your mic in and talk to it and it hatches into an alien which you sell on the black market for either a UFO or a jet pack.

Way off topic but could someone possibly make a converter for GTA IV's file formats to GTA V's file formats? I and many others are really interested in mods and nobody seems to be keen on making any mods and if we could convert them it would be splended. Thanks in advance!!!

 

PS I don't mean to be a troll but you guy's are the only people with enough research on the files to do this.

There's a reason for this. I for one do not support the modding community whatsoever until rockstar properly CRC's important files like collision meshes and the json files. The reality is console mods always just lead to cheating, wait for the PC version.

Thank you Talkol. I guess this may blow my theory out of the water, but it's possible that the location check is done using the player coordinates. What does the gold mean? why are some things like they eyes and the tree and the ramps a different color than the rest?

I am referring to texture mods for example replacing a shotgun with red deads blunderbuss or making Johnny K's ghost appear somewhere on the map. Some parents have kids who want to play GTA but they don't think its appropriate. What's the answer to that? Modding. Quite frankly modding on pc sucks because in order to have decent gameplay you have to buy a $1000.00 PC, which IMO modding an xbox is more worthwhile than modding on PC as you can make money boosting peoples ranks ect. the thing is it depends how its used some people such as myself will turn mods of if they are playing online. For GTA V i have two installations on my HDD one for Mods and one retail version meaning no mods, even though i have an rgh doesn't mean I'm a pirate i did download GTA V when it was leaked but i also preordered it to support my favorite developers. The point I'm trying to make is that it depends how you use it, like they say; "Great power comes great responsibility".

The thing about that is that Lazer != Laser. Spmed and Spsmall shoot actual red laser beams. Also they have normal damage settings and no special flags to make them indestructible. Here's a picture of a tank using the laser weapon:

Those are collision materials which are either wood/metal/grass/concrete/rock/sand

 

That's why they have colors.

Unfortunately the vast majority of players will use those same tools to cheat. If you want texture mods there are already several tools which will let you edit existing textures. Anything beyond that is game breaking.

 

While you may use it for good purposes that says nothing about what will be done by other players. Texture mods lead to mesh mods which lead to collision model mods. Anything which allowed to change what spawns could be used to cheat. I wish this weren't true as I'm sitting on some tools I'd love to release, but won't.

Good work guys! Some really good stuff here. But there's something that I want to find out. I've got GTA V for PS3 and if I insert the BD into my pc. The BD doesn't show up on my pc. I don't have a Blu-Ray Drive so this might be the problem. Is there another way through this? I really want to check out some stuff for myself :(

Anyone here really good at PPC assembly? (yeah that's a long shot)

 

I've got pretty much all but 10 or so of the opcodes mapped out. I can understand the assembly but some of it is just redundant or makes no sense.

 

 

 

Actually here's a much better question.

 

Does anyone know how people have been extracting the natives from GTAIV RDR and such?

I haven't looked at GTA scripting, but I've worked with a few assembly languages in the past. If you want some extra eyes on it I could take a look.
