Are there any more clues? If not I am thinking these are the 5 x's in the mural. Maybe they don't necessarily have to line up with the mountain in a certain way, but instead if you satisfy each glpyh's trigger you get a certain result. for example, the three on the right must be satisfied to obtain a jetpack or at least unlock something to do with the jetpack. And ultimately all must be satisfied to result in a final easter egg (egg in the middle).

 

 

Thats a good observation, notice as well how the Mt. Chilliad glyphs are all on one side of the mountain?

i cant get in the back of that truck or under that pic is what i could get at best but if u wanna look its what u steal for the paletto bank hiest once u park u have a chance to look at it for as long as u want

I just noticed that the crate in the image you've posted has the text "US Army" on it. I'm pretty sure the secret weapon crate texture doesn't.

Any way to check for sure?

Its not misplaced as its taken directly from the files, and I used my map to find that glyph in that spot, like you said, if we had a helicopter out to sea, and someone managed to align all of these (Except egg and ufo parts of the mural).

 

What we know so far where all the glyphs are located on Chilliad, and we believe we know where the shadow of the jet pack is in the Altruist Camp, I believe if this is correct, there must be a way to line up exactly to all the boxes to those glyphs.

 

And if so, maybe there is something out to sea at a certain height to line up everything at 3am.

Lets see if I can make this easier to understand.

Here we have the mural. There are 3 glyphs at the bottom. Lets call these the end results. The end results are the easter eggs we are trying to uncover. To make each on appear we must satisfy the requirement of each [X] associated with each end result. Once satisfied, the end result will appear at the red eye, or the top of mount chilliad. Sounds far-fetched? Well the bottom left end result is a ufo. We know a UFO appears at the red eye (the top of the mural) (top of mount chilliad) when it is raining at approximately 3 am. The two [X]'s associated with the ufo end result are cs1_10_clue_rain01 and cs1_10_clue_moon02, Rain and night time with the moon, or 3 am. Here is the GPS map that can help make sense of this:

4 is rain01 and 5 is moon02. If you were to tilt the mural on it's side with the top at the red eye, it can line up nicely with the glyphs. The spacing looks good too.

 

Using this theory we can deduce that the end result for the 3 requirements on the right side will trigger a jetpack easter egg.

 

Issues:

 

1. The mountain clue does not make sense. What requirement could this mean?

 

2. The rain02 glyph is not placed correctly. Maybe it is a red herring or a mistake.

Disclaimer: I don't wish to throw people off. If this sounds asinine then just ignore it. I just thought I'd share my ideas and maybe I could spark an idea in someone else.

Ok thanks for clarifying. Interesting. It could be lined up at a different viewing angle to make sense of the outlying rain02 glyph.

 

Can the shadow of the jetpack be put on the map? Maybe placement of the baseball bat can put it there since the shadow is not an actual texture.

Thanks guys its just this is a treasure trove of some ridiculous discoveries so dont want it all to get lost in back and forth about glyph theories and such... hey talkol, what do you think is a good direction to start in now? We were saying triggers, whats your opinion on a good lead... obviously searching coords but that is something the whole community will have to help us with lol

Hey, lurker here. I've been following this topic for a while, and with the help of the information posted earlier in the thread by tadd, talkol, and everyone else who's contributed, I've whipped up a little program to convert XDR models to OBJ format for working with.

 

Having them in OBJ format means we can view/edit them in any 3d program that supports OBJ (which is most of them I believe). We can also pass around the OBJ files to save people from having to download the viewer as well.

 

I've compiled a Windows executable for people to use, and the source code is up on Github.

To use it, just pass the XDR as an argument, eg.

xdr2obj.exe p_secret_weapon_02.xdr

I've loaded the p_secret_weapon_02 model into 3ds max and applied the textures to it so we have a better idea of what to look for in game. It exports texture coordinates, although I'm not too sure if they're correct/what format they're in, as they don't seem to map out properly in 3ds max. Regardless, all the correct colours are there.

Can you please open them and upload some sceenshots?

They have the craziest x,y,z locations.

Some are the ufo's but others have very weird positions and we have no flipping idea what they are!

We'll make due without textures, so just basic wireframes will be enough

i have looked at a few. So far just boxes and flat squares

 

Can look at the ufo's in pieces....still looking through them

 

Ok. Have looked through them all. cubes, squares, ufo parts for both the ufos. and one strange shaped thing that i don't recognize.

Unfortunately not. In the other thread (decoding the mural) it was verified that crate is from the mission where you attack the military convoy and steal a secret weapon for the Paleto Bay heist. That crate contains the heavy armor and mini-gun :(

 

Hopefully they reused it for a jetpack / alien ray gun / Amandas dildo, but it seems unlikely now :(

Yeah, the UFOs are stored in multiple meshes. Here's the screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/s91De

 

Unfortunately nothing new. The models we hadn't seen before are of the cargo plane that breaks up in mid air, or are plain old boxes.

umm this crate is NOT that crate in the decoding the mural topic, sorry mate. This is from the file secret weapon and no one has posted a picture matching it from in game yet.

 

look at this pic and the one from the decoding topic and you will see they are very different.

what about the prop_alien_egg.xdr file? Maybe a clue for the egg in the glyph?

p_secret_weapon_02.xdr is 330Kb

 

i bet they both have embedded textures inside!

 

0_0.jpg0_0.jpgis this crate weapon lolhere is the other crate... see 2 different crates, so not our secret weapon.

 

edit: seeing the UFOs like that and the egg is crazy... excellent work guys!! Just need all .cdr files converted now lol

The egg is the little blue thing on the steps. (Yes, the asteroid is huge)

 

As a side note, those two lit up rectangles on the door to the observatory have polygons of their own, and there are no matching polygons on the other side of the door, so there's no chance they'll light up at any point :(

Lol the egg is tiny on the steps of the observatory but still like the size of chop.

I found a mannequin model earlier, the egg reached up to it's knee :-)
