talkol can definitely vouch for me.

I've been pleading reoze to come help us ever since tadd opened this thread :) I really wanted our best minds on the serious file research.

 

Regarding the scripts (I'm talking about .xsc/.csc files inside scripts_rpf), I'm pretty sure they play a key role in the game. If we knew how to read ufo.xsc for example, we would have all the triggers for the Chiliad ufo.

 

This script mechanism is not new, it existed in GTA IV and it has been researched thoroughly (see OpenIV) - to the level people wrote their own compilers to make new scripts.

 

Having said that, researching .xsc would require reverse engineering of the binary, and that's something I don't plan to get into. There are other people who started doing that - http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/xsc-research.990694 - I suggest we keep updated on their progress and focus on other things

(I've been generating a list of defined research tasks that in my eyes will pave the way to cracking the whole thing.. Go over this thread to see the other ones if you wanna help and looking for something to do)

 

So the task at hand - opening XMT files

 

There are a bunch of XMT files, especially the scenarios like the military base or the altruist camp, that we currently don't know how to open. We need to figure them out and check if there's anything interesting in them.

 

I recall this guy saying that they have the same block format like the saved games (to anyone who played with patching the save file). He claims his save block editor can open them too: http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/xsc-research.990694/#post-7392743

Hey reoze great to have you here, we never turn a good hunter down, let us know if you need anything.

 

@takeover... umm 5 chop scene routes? Either its where he starts shagging other dogs or random things like that OR its something to do with finding 5 hidden things (i only say this cos of the 5 missing tracts and 5 boxes on the mural, i am aware the 5 missing tracts was fixed but you never know.)

 

Also thank you for the work on mapping things... should have more for you soon, pastebins today for everyone lol

Just wanted to say you guys have been doing some awesome work, I've following this thread very thoroughly, and want to help out so bad but I really don't know how to use all the programs etc.

Keep it up, don't give up because it will be you guys who find out what the game holds!

Double click, and it'll try to convert all xdr textures to dxt or whatever the texture format is now lol.

Or you can drag a single xdr.

 

Some files might not convert, drag it manually. Source is included

 

 

interdpth, do you think you can add in a "if conditionial function" to this lil app you made so that if it cant convert the XDR file to XTD then it doesn't output the non working XTD file at all?

 

Im already ripping through the game files at warp speed finding a few things..

But the only problem i have is figuring out what XDR->XTD files are not working after the convert,

I just batch convert all of them in the folder for each RPF file and then check em all one by one for interesting stuff.

But trying to view hundreds to thousands of XTD files with some that hold nothing in them is becoming an irritation when it keeps crashing the Texture Editor/Viewer..

ok people, pastebins... on closer inspection of certain things they are not as they appeared to be first time around but I wrote a note with each link...

 

ok...

 

in common/data/levels/gta5 is a file called doortuning.meta, I thought this contained all doors in the game... after going through i'm not sure it is all doors but instead the mechanics for each type of door (like gates, garage doors, trailer doors, house doors etc...)

wanted to post the vehicle list but too big for pastebin apparently lol but that is in same folder as all the above and called vehicles.meta (this is where I got the info about the vulkan maybe being the lazer)

 

 

now we got the ambient files me and takeover have been talking about (contains all missions like the last one(bigfoot) and epsilon and so on and also some places of interest) I put all the 4 files in one pastebin so we have... ambient.ipl, ambient_leeds.ipl, ambient_mp.ipl and ambient_sd.ipl

want to point out a file I found which seemed odd... in common/data/ragdoll are all the body shape and type files we have alien, chimp and one called rhesus... anyone know what a rhesus is? lol edit: apparently rhesus is a monkey so probably from the humane labs... any idea why we have chimp and alien ragdolls though since they were both in cutscenes and from what i know, not in game?? There is also a horse ragdoll lol believe someone mentioned this before though.

Yeah, these crashing files are so annoying :)

I really wish some programmer would take this task from interdpth though.. He's busy with cracking the models. Since he was kind enough to include the source code for his tool, anyone with basic programming knowledge could add this functionality..

 

I'll be happy to assist by answering questions on the best ways to discover faulty files.

 

In the meantime, you can try to filter the corrupt files by size. I suspect that the majority of corrupt files don't really have textures inside. Since the textures are usually big (at least 30kb), any file smaller than that can be suspected as corrupt.

For now

 

For XDRs, first WDRs are compressed LZ77 compressed or ZLib compressed. However, XDRs are not compressed. This is the first issue GTA IV models viewers have. So to deal with this, whenever they check for compression and the type isn't supported. Do a raw copy of the data. so instead of decompressing, just read filelength-0x10. Then you can seperate CPU and GPU and go from there. I am currently working with the SparkIV source to get models displaying. And then I get stuck at shaders. lol

I found a sound file called spooky or something. Had some scary screaming and some backwards sounding stuff that i reversed. Think its the screams you can hear under the city(or in the movie studio?). Can't make out words or anything. Seems like jibberish

There were plans to have horses in game, there is also a cut mission where we were going to be able to go visit a party at somewhere, break a safe then ride out on horses. The screaming is probably for the Gordo Ghost.

ahh an how many left overs are there lol keep thinking oh whats this, then realising its old stuff, found radio textures (for stations) for gta4 as well...

Where are you guys finding the models(.xdr) files? I have found a bunch of .xdt files but no .xdr For example where is the alien egg?

 

Maybe i don't have it set up correctly?.....or maybe i didn't extract the ISOs correctly?

In the part0 part1 part2 part3 rpfs and just scattered mate. Usually in places like country_01 and files like that, downtown and hollywood.

 

edit: alien egg is a prop.

hmm. I have two folders from the two ISOs. They both have a common.rpf and xbox360a.rpf and xbox360b.rpf. The second disk has audio_rel.rpf. There is also content folder on the first disk.

 

Am i missing stuff? How are you getting to country_01 in your setup?
