Could the Vulcan possibly be the VTOL variant of the P996? IIRC a VTOL jet was shown at one point (picture IIRC) Would make sense to basically make it an "add-on" to the P996 (think blower or body kits added to cars at LSC)

The VTOL plane in the trailers had different shaped wings, more like a harrier.

The interesting ones were ambient.ipl which gives the in-game x,y,z coords for Zancudo and hippie camp ufo's. We were able to translate then into map coords, see the researcher toolkit thread

Aside from these textual ipl files, there should also be binary ipl files as well. @hakatox wanted to lead the way to finding them. Once we locate the binary ipl files, they will have coords for models too, like the alien egg. It will be the breakthrough we need to finally find it in-game

 

 

Binaries ipl's are in the files, but they are in .xmap files.

Oh... i have seen a lot of xmaps, any idea on a file name? Or would it be ambient.xmap?

 

Im sure i saw a post on xentax or something where someone had made a green dot map of all the props or something on the map... maybe something different though im not sure?

haha chill bro... i cant convert files as i have the ps3 files and the converter only works on xbox files, interdpth is working on viewing the ps3 files and talkol is working on making full models... its not like we arent trying here...

 

i am just looking at files i can access at the minute which have turned up some good stuff... as soon as i have xbox files i will work on opening them all, we have kept you as up to date as we could with what we know and have had time to do...

 

like the fact talkol and interdpth pulled an all nighter so xbox file users could convert the files and have a working converter...

 

anyway until we can view full models and manage to find certain files, staring at textures we manage to pull out of files wont solve much lol

Ive really gotta make some paste bins, sooo much info in common like coordinates for all pick ups and stuff lol will get on that tomorrow...

 

found in common/.../gta5/resident a load of prop files (.meta) and they have scene route so will go through them see if i can locate anything fishy like the alien egg or secret weapon... just trees and few bins and stuff so far but only a bit of the way into them so fingers crossed... i will let you know.

Will have a look when i get a min...

 

we are looking for possible files linked with prop placement at the minute mate, then we can see where certain objects are placed like the alien egg and secret weapon crate and such... will have a look if i get a min though thanks for the heads up.

We need volunteers to do these sort of things. It should be a pipeline.. By the time you guys finish going over all the XDR files, we will hopefully have some new file type in store, like a tool to view xmap, or models

 

The XDR -> XTD tool is available to all, pm tadd if u need help to get your hands on the files themselves

@stangone... i have seen it briefly but it doesnt exactly name them lol it just has a scene route (location) and a brief description or file name... would take forever for 1 person to match the files to the interiors locations and then go there and identify them lol

 

and @interdpth... that is equally as good... i am in the process of getting the xbox files, will take some time though.

How "quick and dirty" is this map?

 

I'm asking only because the location of the zone at the centre bottom of the map designed as "Elysian Island" seems quite off (http://gta.wikia.com/Elysian_Island), so that it might indicate a possible problem with the coordinates' correspondency.

(Meaning: I'm NOT complaining about anything: just pointing out in order to avoid later problems for those who can work with this amazing material.)

Just double checked coords and that one is off. I went down instead of up. The rest still seem kosher to another spot check.

 

I made boxes even around the single coord ones to allow for some leeway in the data. I have a feeling some of the X/Ys are not exact, but its the closest ive seen.

OpenIV (the tool for GTA IV) has an awesome viewer for WDR files (they were the XDR files of GTA IV PC)

OpenIV also has an option to import and export an "open format" (textual format of WDR which is cross-platform) called ODR

The WDR format specs are here: http://gta.wikia.com/WDR

The majority of fields should match our dear XDR

I still think it's going to be quicker to make an XDR->ODR/WDR converter and use the existing model viewer instead of writing one from scratch

I need a volunteer for another important task:

 

Getting the hashes for models. Each model has a 4 byte binary hash code. When a binary file references the model, it usually references the hash and not the full model textual name.

 

What can we do with this? Take the alien egg for example, if we had its hash we could search in the game files where it's referenced and find its x,y,z coordinates.

 

Ideas of how to find out the hashes:

 

1. The hash might be written inside the model's XDR file. You can analyze the XDR header according to the WDR specs here - http://gta.wikia.com/WDR.

 

2. The hash is probably a function over the textual model name. In older GTA's this was the function used: http://www.gtamodding.com/index.php?title=Cryptography#One_At_A_Time_Hash , and the old list of model hashes was http://www.gtamodding.com/index.php?title=List_of_models_hashes

 

3. Ask these guys where they got the list of vehicle hashes for GTA V: http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/gta-v-vehicle-hashes-list.988584/

The problem with openiv is that it doesn't let you just open a wdr :(

 

I have an idea, will work on converter now.

 

Initial investigation shows huge changes.

sorry mate, pretty sure all cheats have been found...

 

sort of linking to your post but also on a different note... i found some files with something about a numberpad or entering numbers and a long list of 4 digit numbers... will find it and post it tomorrow, pc off for the night now.

 

also found something about doortuning lol seemed to be the mechanics for every door in game from trevors trailer to zancudo tower doors!! Had micheals house and just random doors as well, only quick scanned it but will be pastebining that tomorrow along with some other juicy bits for hunters to go through lol

Keep up your hard work there interdpth, its way over my head though sorry mate.

 

just a last thought before bed... if we can find the files for the hatch (the one roman is at) we might be able to stumble across an easter egg folder or section of the files...

 

just a thought... if the hatch files (textures and stuff) are just in the sea area files and not in a special folder and the morse code tapping is just in the sound files we know each easter egg is in its own set of files for that area (like downtown or country_01 and stuff)

 

i will keep my eye out for the files as i go through looking for the sand glyph and stuff if anyone else can do the same and let me know if they locate them, thanks.

Hey I know this is a first post and I'm not going to sit here and blow my own horn about all the languages I know and projects I've worked on but talkol can definitely vouch for me. I know how it is with people coming in here spouting BS. I definitely think I can do some damage here and he's been pushing me to keep up with this and post on here so here I am.

 

Anyone can check that scripts ingame? Some of them looks interesting.

 

 

Edit : Actually after looking at the filenames. Those look like they're some type of unit testing scripts. Nothing at all implies they have any ties to anything that exists in game. Are there any other files with those extensions in the game files?

 

 

I could give them a look if someone could PM me with a couple of them. My connection is in the sub megabit range so I've painfully been trying to get my own copy the last few weeks.
