Drake1212 Posted November 28, 2013 Share Posted November 28, 2013 There seems to be the general idea that atleast one of the ending was the "true" ending (aka. canon). Am i the only one who think that every ending can be considered canon? In GTA IV we had two endings and some people are still arguing about what the true ending was, but why can't it be both? Niko's decision about making the deal or not did not have any effect on the storyline in GTA V - therefore both endings can be regarded as canon, it's left to the player to decide what happened. I'm not saying you're wrong and i'm right, but i just wanna know why this idea of canonical endings are so widely accepted. What do you believe? This isn't Silent Hill, Rockstar knows that simply saying that one ending is real and the rest are fake would just take away from the player's ability to make the final decision. Couldn't have said it better myself. GTA IV and V encourage the player to make their own choices, it would make no sense for Rockstar to announce that their choices didn't matter. It would save Trevor and Franklin a whole heap of trouble with Devin, and practically the FIB can't do s#|t about it because Devin would be the one protecting the semi-dead crew. The plot hole here is that Devin may or may not decide goodness be dealt with Trevor or Franklin and the IAA might also hear the FIB screaming. There is no proof that these endings are the "right" endings. They are just endings that the community thinks are the best - that doesn't make it canon. Now I'm pretty damn sure that i never killed any of the IAA guys wearing ties...only guys dressed in riot gear and merryweather....and i know i did not kill all of them either...i've beat the story 3 times so i have seen this happen 3 times but i haven't played story since online launched so maybe i am just forgetting killing them...either way Haines had turned on dave right? El Zodape Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 Both endings in IV make sense and fit with the game. They don't change the mood all of a sudden. The characters don't turn into somebody else all of a sudden. Both decisions are understandable why Niko would do them. In V, you get ending C, the most fitting one atmosphere and story wise. While the other two feel empty, with the protags out of character and their own atmosphere don't fit with the game's. That's why both endings in IV are posible, but only ending C is acceptable in V. For example, I played each character equally, and essentially, formed a bond between all three characters doing friend activities & missions together. Therefore, I obviously chose ending C. However, if you played mainly as Michael /Franklin, you would likely kill Trevor. Or vice/versa. Drunk posting... Please excuse me, if I make no sense...
