I hope it works on my GS2 at least at 30 FPS. And I hope I can enjoy the graphics at max settings. The GTA VC runs at good speed on my phone, then I think the SA should runs as well. Now I'm playing it on my PS2, never played it before, and would be nice play on my PS2 and on my mobile at same time. But I'll play more on my phone than on my PS2, even that I already made some progress.

About the check point system. I think the GTA IV/GTA V style is what they mean. By that, I mean the lines on the roads on the radar, rather than just a blip like before.

But I wonder what other enhancements will be introduced. I'm hoping vehicle reflections are there. I wonder if other features will exist that IV had as the faster smart phones seem to be caught up to current gen.

AND WHY THE f*ck IS THIS IN GTA 5 FORUM?

Um, this is NOT in the V section, it is in the San Andreas section-you must have missed that? LOL It even says "

  1. GTA Forums
  2. » Grand Theft Auto
  3. » GTA San Andreas" on the top line of this topic...Of coarse it will be one line on the actual forums and not 3 lines like on this post. LOL Just a friendly heads up :)

Why didn't you consider that this topic may have been moved? The topic was posted first in the V section. He just posted before it was moved.

Holy effin' CRAP, i mean, WOW, i'm impressed by the fact they could optimize it enough for mobile devices, San Andreas used MUCH MORE RAM AND CPU, i didn't even believe they would be able to fit it into a phone :3

GTA SA in 2004 was made for single core desktop CPU's and weaker graphics cards. You now have dual, quad and octa core CPU's on mobile, even if they're mobile they'll outperform a single core desktop CPU...

Amazing news, however I doubt my dual-core Xperia L will run it properly. We'll see, it seems to run almost anything, even VC very smoothly.

Keep in mind that having a dual or quad-core processor doesn't necessarily equate to better performance. A mid to top-end mobile SoC may equate to or even beat an Atom, but there are other factors besides architectural differences.

lol right on, btw is that your real name?

and I think the checkpoint system is to do with mission checkpoints instead of having to redo the whole mission, not a map marking system

just a guess

I realise, but the single core CPU's from the time are outdated enough so a mobile SoC can outperform it.

I love how beautiful GTA 3, VC and SA have been working on my old PC with 1600Mhz CPU, 128MB Graphic card and 384MB of RAM. In HD resolution. And now those games need 4x CPU and 2gb of Ram to work on android with low resolution :/

Which day do you guys think will be released? I guess maybe in December 6th, one year later GTA VC. And how much space it will use? I guess, as it is remastered, over than 4Gb, or they has optimized so much to use the minimum space possible.

I can run both GTA 3 and VC on my phone, although i'm a bit worried due to the fact i have a bit more than the minimum to run these games (both run at 50+ FPS though), and SA is a HUGE load D:

Perhaps so. From what I've heard a typical SoC would be roughly equivalent to a 1Ghz Pentium III or at most an Atom or a low to mid-range P4.

I always think of the mobile versions as just icing on a cake. They are not meant to replace the other versions or get you immersed and devote a whole bunch of time into it, it is just something nice and awesome. Being able to play it on your mobile is awesome enough.

I will be honest, I'm more excited about this than the updates for GTA V at the moment. However I do have some concerns. I played GTA 3 on iPad mini and it runs perfect. Vice city runs really well, however I noticed little lag and frame drops on loading areas, and sometimes the textures do not load fast enough. I wonder if I will have this issue with San Andreas.. Especially since my iPad's processor is the same as the iPad 2.

GTA 3D on mobiles suck. R* is wasting time and peoples' resources on this.

That is your opinion. A lot of people including me would like to play GTA SA on our phone. I still play GTA VC and III from time to time on it.

R* is wasting their time? I just had a look on Play (for Android) application, GTA III has been downloaded 1,000,000+ times and GTA Vice City has been downloaded 100,000+ times. Now imagine how popular GTA San Andreas will be.

Waste of time? Sure.

Samsung Galaxy S4 here... naaah, it won't run GTA: San Andreas.

I have that also, it should run it.

At least I'm crossing my fingers, would be a 99.9999999% chance that they would make it work on it of all devices for the Android.

If someone came up to you on October 29, 2004 and told you "Kid, you'll be playing that on your phone in a few years time" what would you say? My phone back then could barely handle Snake. It's things like this that really make me appreciate the growth of technology. The vast expanse of San Andreas in my pocket. Makes you wonder what will be out in ten years time. Will we be playing IV on our phones in four? Only time will tell.

tbh GTA IV in a very optimised state, could almost run on the top tablets and phones right now. Yeah it's gonna happen eventually. I think this is Rockstars game plan to re-release all the games on mobile when the advancements in tech catch up.... and it just almost seems to fall nicely on anniversarys. Its slightly annoying they're bring SA out so early, I'd happily wait so that in years to come you could look back and all the anniversaries lined up.

Rockstar skips Manhunt and goes straight to San Andreas. They make no sense.

Thats because Manhunt is not as popular as GTA , so it would obviously sell less, duh . Not to mention its even more of a controversial series than GTA since it got banned in a few countries .

Yea that was what I was saying, ofcourse people have their doubts because it is not here yet. But IV on mobile is very plausible. Some game's graphics on Mobile are already beefing a bit, then again with the help of retina displays and other nifty eye candy, it is easy to get away with tricking your eyes.

EDIT: << New topic merged into existing topic >>

The 2004 smash-hit Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is finally making its way to mobile devices this December. In this new version you’ll find updated visuals, flexible controls and a new checkpoint based saving system that makes on-the-go virtual larceny even easier!

The game is set in a parody of California circa 1992 and follows protagonist Carl “C.J.” Johnson as he embarks on a quest to find out the truth about his mother’s death. In the meantime, he wants to rebuild his old gang back to prominence, despite the intentions of rival gang members and corrupt cops to do him in as well. Using an array of questionably acquired vehicles and weapons, CJ fights to learn the truth while making his way to the top.

GTA:SA is set to look better than ever as the graphics have been completely remastered to take advantage of the full power of modern mobile devices. Everything from the character models to the way shadows fall upon the highly detailed landscapes of Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas has been upgraded.

With the move to touchscreen devices, there will now be several new options available for maneuvering CJ around town. The controls will be completely customizable, with three different ready-to-use options for driving, walking and running. In addition to the standard touch screen buttons, it also has built-in controller support for a more traditional experience.

The game is expected to be released on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Mobile enabled devices.

Pretty much my opinion as well. I'd rather have a PC port of V or of other games that didn't get released on PC (never forget Red Dead, man). However, it's clear that the mobile market is an easy way to make a quick buck for them.

I played GTA III on my iPod Touch and didn't enjoy it all that well, but I suppose it might be better on a bigger screen. Out of curiosity, has anyone actually completed the story or gotten to 100% on one of the mobile versions?

Rockstar doesn't port the games to Mobile, War Drum Studios do.

Meaning even though the game is being ported to mobile, because it's being ported by a different studio, if Rockstar are working on a PC port of V, it won't be slowed down at all.

Next year, I wonder what they will do next. LCS, or IV. If it is IV, I wonder if it will be EFLC or V. Or they will do IV and EFLC at the same time.

They got to release the mobile versions of III, VC, and SA on Vita. Maybe even a retail copy of them in a bundle.

I played the hell out of sa on ps2. It's a great game but playing it on my mobile doesn't really interest me.
