I've finally moved on from Sainsburies own cider to something better. I recently discovered K cider. I think it tastes great and looks great but I've heard the homeless in Brighton drink it. Anyone have any experience with it?

It's basically the same thing as Strongbow Black, or Super, or whatever they call it these days. Pretty f*cking grim stuff.

 

And yes, the homeless drink it, primarily because it's 8.4% and about a quid for a 568ml can. So what, 20p per unit?

If you want norwegian stuff, the Aegir and Noisom porters are good too. Aegir do a Lynchburg barrel aged Imperial porter thats incredible, but unsurprisingly its f*cking expensive.

Yeah I know you're a bit limited with the Vinmonopoli. Some of the scandinavian ones are done in watered down versions for the supermarket. That Carnegie I mentioned, you can get in the "folkbeer" version in Sweden but i'm not sure about Norway.

 

Fullers London Porter is not bad for something thats pretty widely available.

 

I had a Black Chocolate Imperial Stout from Brooklyn brewey last week that was really good. 10% too...

 

um... other stuff I get quite regularly (from Tesco), March of the Penguins by Williams Brothers, Black Gold stout by Cairngorm brewery, Dragonhead by Orkney brewery, Midnight Sun also from Williams brothers. Just throwing suggestions around.

 

Stuff you can find in Norway? if i remember correctly Noisom Bearded porter was quite good. And can be had in the regular supermarkets, as can Nogne (i think). I had one called a Hansa Borg Porter (or stout maybe, it was a while ago) that was a bit rubbish but might be worth trying. Also the unforgetably named AASS STOUT wasn't bad either.
