Rob two or three convenience stores, buy an akuma, mod the engine. Then go race with it. As you make money racing spend it entirely on the bike. Max the bike out and then keep racing until you have enough for cheapest 2 car garage...i picked the one across from lsc in blaine county. Go steal a musle car ( i used dominator) and do the same thing with the racing and modding. Earn enough for the apartment you like with big garage and then start stealing cars to fill it. Mod those all up and race them all...you will then start making enough dough to purchase the high ticket cars.

Buying weapons and bullets and trying to fight in freemode is pointless if your low level and only have an oozy. Playing the combat missions is almost as costly in armor and ammo as the reward for doing them.

By all means if racing isnt your thing and you like to do combat than good luck to you and have fun...but your question was how to make money. I am a working man with a family and have about 4 or 5 hours aday i put into game ( averaging for weekends) and i made it to level 80 with a 10 car garage in good apartment with 9 out of ten of my desired cars purchased and modded in 2 weeks time. That is over 5 mil in two weeks.

Good luck.

You don't necessarily need to buy a 2-car garage/apartment or at bike at the start. I didn't have an apartment till I was lvl 25 (I had a total of $300K at the time)

All you really need to do is find a good race that you are comfortable with. I use Downtown Underground because I'm so used to it and I just really enjoy the track... It has that challenge in it. Next, you're gonna want to get used to default/stock cars for the mean time as it saves you money. Just use the best stock car possible and then win as many races as possible. I didn't have an upgraded car tillI was lvl 60. Finally, don't buy anything you don't need. (Extra weapons, 2 or 6-car garage with apartments, vehicle upgrades and hospital bills.) The only weapon you're really gonna need until lvl 21 is the Micro-SMG. You don't need to buy a cheap house/garage as you're going to pretty much waste money.

Also, sell cars every 48 minutes/hour. I recommend selling Ballers or Felons as they are worth $9,000 when you sell them in Los Santos Customs. Felon GT's are slightly better because they sell for $9,500. Other cars you can get and sell for higher amounts of money are; the Yellow Dominator used in Cop's Capacity (given by Lester) which sells for $16,000 and the Felon GT driven by the lawyer in Out Of Court Settlement (given by Martin Madrazo) which sells for $22,000. Just some ways I use to earn money in GTA Online. :)

Didn't you get the R* $500k stim package?

It shouldn't take too long or be too hard to jump straight in with a 10 car property as your first property if you're selling a 6k+ car every 48 mins and doing missions/survivals/races in between (and robbing the odd armored truck when you see one).

When you do have a property, don't worry about buying cars to put in it right away. instead carry on as you were, but store any cars that sell well (Baller, Oracle, Fellon/FellonGT, etc) in your garage so you don't have to find a good car every 48 mins. You can also store the FellonGT from "Out of Court Settlement" and the Car from "Cops Capacity" in your garage to sell before completing those missions as they sell for $22k and $16k respectively.

Just for info sake, the reason i suggested the small garage is because it allows you to get two affordable vehicles with a couple of mods that will give you just a little edge over the stack cars. It is relatively cheap and is a good investment. You get half the money back when you upgrade.

Yes i do all my racing online, where else would it be?

I also primarily race downtown underground, optimally with one lap and 4 drivers. First place wins 13600 cash and as much as 5k xp.

I dont bother with the selling ov vehicles or any of the missions when i am pushing for money. I found that in the time it takes me to get a car from my garage to lsc to simeon i can make three times the reward in the race.

id definately recommend LuapYllier comments regarding racing... about 80% of my cash has come from races, and a custom akuma is the way when it comes to bikes, its cheap, easy to mod and fast as stink
