We almost never allow randoms in our jobs. The few times we did, they just stood around and the very first thing I do when that happens is look to see if they came into our lobby after the job and if so, put a bullet in their head and pocket any cash they drop. Call it a fee for their free RP.

If only you could anonymously rate the players you work with after each mission, with the game shortlisting the players you liked better so that you'll likely work with them again in the future.

The game is already recording pretty much every stat, so it could quite quickly point you to players you worked well with before, naturally forming teams and partners in crime for you to work with in the future.

Also I agree that the online Missions require far more polish and explanation - sometimes they get confusing and messy. It also might help if the consequences for failure were higher but people often just end up mucking about.

This could be a double edged sword.

Was doing one mission where a guy stopped right in the middle of the road ahead of me to swap cars. I didn't see him in time and ran him over. He spent the rest of the mission firing at my car!

OP at least take heart that so many people here offered to help you out. I've taken to checking out the people in the session before bothering to invite. If there are 15 people in there with zero JP and constant messages popping up saying "so and so killed so and so" then forget it, they aren't interested in co-op. Find a new session and hope for one with lots of people earning JP. Odds are you'll get invited to something yourself. Also pay attention, though, to the crews present. If 6 or 8 guys have lots of JP but they're all in the same crew maybe you should look elsewhere, as they're probably running together on everything.

Feel free to add me on PSN, I get tired, too, of sending invites to 15 people and not getting a single taker, but I guess a lot of them are just having more fun doing their own thing which is fine.

It helps to have a mic, too. Most of these missions are doable solo but most of them are also easier w/help, assuming everyone's communicating.

Find a good crew that communicates well.

What do you expect when you carry out essentially military operations with a ragtag group of twelve year olds programmed just to shoot anything in front of them?

This made me chuckle almost audibly.

It's not just kids though. My 30 something buds can fubar a mission too.

When I get missions I do regurlarly I generally just sit in my car watching the idiots with my radio on . Once everyone dies from stupidity I complete the mission solo using tactics I have picked up completing them previously, rather than brute force run and gun that so many people try

It makes for a great laughs watching idiots fail and I also enjoy everyone spectating me while I solo it like a boss. Yup.

I'm currently level 30 and trying to rank up, I currently have job offers from Ron, Lester and Martin. I load up the mission and invite players,

Sometimes nobody turns up so I have to do it alone but I think it is hard going at it alone sometimes especially these missions. It's ok to do a Gerald mission alone because they're not that hard.

A few times I've had people come join me on a mission. A mission that came up was the Lester mission where you need to take a chopper to the top of the skyscraper and collect the briefcase, I told the people in the game we need to get a chopper from that place around the corner but they try and climb up the building, whilst I sit in the car Beeping them to get their attention, they know its not gonna work. That's one thing that annoys me.

Another one, Martin mission where you need to get to him upstairs in the mansion by parachute or helicopter, a person joins me and disregards this, driving straight into the gateway and getting us killed. Will people not read??

I feel the players I'm playing with aren't using their heads. I was driving along the highway fast on the way to a mission and one player decides to jump out the car and kill himself, costing us a life!! WTF?

And if the mission doesn't go their way, they exit! I need to be playing with people who want to complete the missions and not mess around.

I done a Lester mission with a friend yesterday called Quarry Quarry. I picked up one van and delivered it, he died picking the other up. I went back for it and he had jammed it on a hill against a wall! There was no way of moving it and eventually it became damaged.

Does anyone want to play? PS3. MikeMurph1

Too many people messing around.

Death from Above and High Priority case are some of the most unforgiving missions on the game so I don't think you can really blame people too much for things going wrong on those. Most missions you can charge in guns blazing and things will work out just fine, so they caught off-guard on missions where going gung-go doesn't work. The fact those missions give crap rewards doesn't help either.

Getting a vehicle stuck is just unfortunate and probably wasn't intentional (he might have driven off something or gotten rammed). Might've been salvageable by ramming too (but maybe you tried that).

I don't really play missions anymore, and I didn't play with randoms when I did but still I think you're accentuating the negative. Even if everybody you've played with was a moron HPC and DFA are abnormally difficult missions for their level and even they can be completed solo.

ROLL LONE WOLF

KILL EVERYONE

Basically.

A random stranger's sole contribution to the mission is to give you the rep bonus... and that's about it. Anything else is above and beyond the call of duty. You want competence or intelligence, then play with your friends.

Actually maybe that's part of the problem. Good players can beat missions solo or just with 1 friend so they have no real reason to pick up extra players (the potential help is unnecessary, but the potential stupidity is detrimental - not a great tradeoff). Which means open missions just stick meh players with each other because they're the only people who use open.

Disagree.

It's one of the biggest gripes I have with missions.

In single player they tell you - or give you major hints what to do. In Multiplayer you're on your own but you don't realize this until you've tried and failed a few missions.

For example, when needing a helicopter I thought I would go the the strip in sandy shores - no helicopter. You need to know exactly where a helicopter will spawn for the missions.

Worse still, some missions give bum advice, like the one where one of you is suposed to snipe while the other gets to the helicopter. I find it just as easy if both players go straight for the helicopter.

The missions should give more help for players at all levels. IMHO

I disagree on this, I like that the missions are open ended and allow you to choose your own strategy. There are a couple of missions where the game probably should point out something that isn't at all obvious (the Lazer jets in Extradition are a good example, and maybe giving you a heli pickup for High-Priority Case) but most of the time I think it's fine. And "alpha strike everything" works for about half the missions in the game anyway so it's not like you need to come up with anything detailed most of the time.

I'll agree its no fun to read while playing but all the help you need is there in the last sentence of the mission briefing and on screen during the mission.

When the mission team is split up (sniper & assault) the sniper doesnt even see the same objective dot on the map. The snipers mission will be to kill the enemy while the assault teams objective is to get the car / drugs / toys to the callers hideout.

Everyone should take the time to move in together or split up if possible but there needs to be a plan or its just a matter of chance whether someone makes it out alive to win.

When you read the briefing chances are you won't want to drive really fast right into the objective marker.

It sucks sometimes not having the right help. But sometimes the missions suck because of what the description says (or doesn't say). Roll with the punches I saw and if you fail, learn from those mistakes. Granted, sometimes the company you keep may have a huge part as to why it failed.

I just remembered an instance of a good teammate. I forget the name of the mission, but it is the one where you drive up to the northwest corner of the map and grab a boat to drop off near Trevor's place. First time we failed at the river.

Second time, a teammate goes off to do something while the other guy and I go get the boat. As we approach the river, I hear an explosion and see a body fall and flop to the ground on front me. I look up, my teammate that went off somewhere else is flying a jet and providing security/escort service. Easy job, by the time we got into the Alamo sea, he ejected, so I took the time to double back and picked him up. Awesome work on his part, I thanked him afterwards. I know, I know, cool story bro.

Too many people messing around.

I agree with you. Too many people just rush in like Rambo, and f*ck the mission.

Me, I'm a sneaky f*cker. I like to know what's going to happen. I've done as many missions as I can solo, work out spawn points, spawn instances etc.

Extradition for example. Get a full lobby, and everyone tries to rush in to get the jets. Poor tactic. 2 guys go in, 1 guy waits at Madrazos house, and 1 camps the spawn point for the DA. Boom. Mission done efficiently.

Lot of missions, don't try to take out enemy cars on the run. Hop in the target truck, hop out, wait, a few enemy cars show up, kill the enemy, leisurely trip to destination.

And my personal pet peeve (and you see it a lot on Landing Gear). Some nimrod thinks the best way to do everything is to hop in one of the buzzards and get rocket happy. Whoops, you blew up the truck and the first plane? Now they're all in the way. What's that? Exploding them out of the way is a good plan? No, IT'S A f*ckING sh*t PLAN YOU f*ckING NIMRODS!

don't forget the douchebags that join missions in a troll truck just to freeze other players.

I don't understand, I see tow trucks and never freeze. I even join missions and sometimes someone pulls up with a towtruck and still no one freezes. They tow my car while I'm in it too and still no freeze. On free roam I've seen a few drive by and still no freeze. I play on the 360 if that means anything.

Anyway I normally do missions myself. Especially the ones with crates full of money. Like the one Martin gives you and you need to look at a gps, hack a laptop, steal cocain, destroy planes and trucks, and eventually have to kill some guy flying away. Patience pays off and even though you play it slower, its still faster than having to redo the mission 3 times.

Perfect example:

On a Lester mission to steal a Titan, we all spawn, they jump in a car and leave me there.

I finally make it to the Airport, move the truck out of the way for them and they take off in the plane leaving me to die!

This isn't right, right?

Because of this I ended up doing the missions solo, well most of them. It's not that hard if you get in the car/van/boat/whatever and then immediately get out and wait for the backup to arrive, often you can kill them all in one spot then deliver the vehicle with no hassle. What made me angry was the payout is the same no matter how many people you kill or how many people join the mission, then they had the nerve to cut that in half if you've done the mission before! Oh and those retards that give you missions will start calling and harassing you if you stop doing missions!

Had this happen just recently.. the host was a low leveller. Start the mission and some dude at level 90 grabs my bike so I get on the back.. then he starts going in the opposite direction and jumping hills. Poor guy gets to the way point and messages me "I'm waiting, hurry up!!"

RQWisenheimer

This topic screams Titan of a Job to me. So many times some fool flies into the truck or, better still, races to fly DA BIG HAIRYPLANE even though they can't and inevitably crash on approach.
