But instead, why does Lady Gaga get so much credit for dressing in unusual/stupid things? A child can go out there and think up these outfits that she wears. "Hmmm, I know I'll wear a comb in my hair, wear 4 watches and put shoes on my hands ... wala I'm Lady Gaga", so original! And that's on the basis that it is her, herself that picks these outfits out.

 

And even if the outfits were that great, why should she reap so much success from it?

Because she is trying to live in the shadow of Freddie Mercury while trying to maintain a status as " original, and being herself ". It's, for a lack of better words, the same old song. Everyone is real or original or themselves and are becoming famous based on their ability to be noticed or be a everyman, rather than their ability to sing or play instruments. It is rarely about the music anymore and is based on your crowd gathering skills. As long as it makes money it will remain like this and it will probably stay like this forever.

A - really really good

B - happen upon a producer or an agent who is very good at his job and wants to try to change the superficial image of the music industry, or in the case of Susan Boyle, change their own image in being a major part of that problem, no prizes for guessing who I am talking about here.
