.unfortunately it hasn't worked out too well over the past decade or so...but I don't want to stray too far off topic so I'll just leave it at that, heh.

At first, being sensitive to anti gun sheep, I believe I read this the wrong way

How I should have read it was " people arent using them for what they were given the right to own them for, as shown by acts like the NDAA and the obama administration still being in politics / alive."

Seriously, people need to read some quotes from the founding fathers about what they are commanded to do when the government passes laws that dont represent their wishes.. when they do things like stop and frisk (illegal/unreasonable search and seizure) and spy on all your communications (equal to checking all your mail, more illegal search and seizure) and pass laws allowing the illegal arrest of US citizens with no cause or evidence or trial (NDAA)

They sure as hell didnt say vote them out. They made sure you had guns for this type of situation.

I can't find it but theres a quote out there pretty much saying your bill of rights and constitution arent worth what they are printed on if the people arent willing to stand up and defend them with their lives when threatened.(edit: which they arent, which is why there is open tyranny.. who would stop it?.. this whole thing was predicted by the founding fathers, they said if this scenario ever came about, you would no longer be free.)

Just wait until you see the effect the TPP is going to have, monsanto is going to be able to sue the EU as a whole for having practices that hurt its trade sales (EU people hate GM food, monsanto pretty much had to run from their market) Just think of what companies will get to sue the US and what for.... TPP means companies trans-nationals can sue governments for laws that hurt their business, its being passed under the table without the US peoples consent and mostly without them even knowing about it)

Are the police mounties?

They are mostly for show, RCMP (royal Canadian Mounted Police) are just federal cops pretty much... anyone on a horse is either at some ceremonial event or possibly trying to break up protesters.. not sure if we use horses for that or if thats just the UK.

Fun fact: there is a law in the UK allowing the queen to behead any subject of a commonwealth nation still on the books... She could come over and cut Harpers head off tomorrow and it would technically be all legal.

She also has the power to take over the country any time she wants, she acts with the governor general as her representative but the powers are all hers on the books... pretty much a dictator who doesn't exercise her power. Most people dont know this and assume its laughable when told. It's true.

I was told in school its all honorary also, it was ignorance on the part of the teachers tbh.. they just read the textbooks/curriculum.

Semi related, Harper included a snippet in the omnibus bill a few years back allowing US agents to cross the border and arrest Canadian citizens who have never set foot in the US, bring them back over to the US and jail them.. mixed with the NDAA.. Any Canadian citizen can be arrested by the US for no reason no trial no evidence at 4 am in the morning, they can kick your door in and drag you out of bed.

Canada isnt even a country, thats not sovereignty.

Canadians invented hockey, perhaps the most brutal sport ever... dont give me that "rugby" sh*t, you're not skating on ice skates colliding with one another in rugby.

A group of British soldiers made hockey, actually.

It's probably not an exact quote, but I've always been fond of this one from Jefferson : "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

Yeah, the 2012 additions to the NDAA are some scary sh*t (though several states are attempting to nullify it), and even the ACA is yet another federal power grab. Thing is, a lot of Americans pay endless lip service to the Constitution, yet discard it whenever it gets in the way of what they want. Not just politicians either. I hate to say it, but Dubya was right when he said it was "just a goddamned piece of paper". People can't expect for any government or document to protect them, but try telling that to the average American today. =/

Meh. People will always try controlling other people, no matter what. IMO, all political ideologies are BS in practice, since they never factor in human action. I just opt out when and where I can.

Not sure if you've ever read it, but you might enjoy "The Most Dangerous Superstition" by Larkin Rose.

Hmm. Are these the same Founding Fathers that declared blacks 3/5 of a person, and the natives not persons at all? I'm going to go out on a limb and say maybe, just maybe, we should think real hard about whether we want to keep them up on that there pedestal. I know, I know, freedom and rights and tyranny and all that. Just sayin'. Slaves. It kiiiiinda sheds doubt on their sanity, much less their sense.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

I used that exact phrase like 2 days ago on these forums.

I believe it goes "The tree of liberty must occasionally be watered with the blood of patriots" Im not sure if tyrants was on it but Im leaning towards yes.

The ideals Ron Paul said he stood for were for 30 years consistent on the constitution.. I liked what he said he wanted to do with the government (Im Canadian remember) I think it would have worked, I think cutting all those bullsh*t deparments was a great idea.. and the foreign policy of dont f*ck with people just because were the US.. and his non intervention style pure constitutionalist ideals..

Sad thing was, he was just controlled opposition.. he was polling higher than Obama when he was still going against romney.. and higher than romney for like 2 days before he committed political suicide.

He attacked the 911 truther movement right when he was shown to be able to be president and beat everyone in the way... He must have known this was a massive part of his base, the people who were becoming super delegates and spending years of preparation to force him into office, it wasnt through his actions it was grassroots people doing it with the electoral college or w.e

What he did, when they realized he was going to be put into office(he was never trying, it was just a show to give people hope) is that he answered a question or "cleared it up" about how he feels on 911.. he said something along the lines of 911 truthers can go eat paint chips and watch alex jones.. I forget if he said he believes the official story or if the people who dont believe the official story or people who think it was an inside job or which sub group of people.. but I know he told the 911 truther community to eat paint chips and watch alex jones.. and thats instant political suicide if you are Ron Paul running in the presidential election.

Turns out his whole family are freemasons including his little girls who are rainbow girls and his grandparents etc. He is controlled opposition.

A little hope is a good thing, a lot of hope is dangerous.

People have been chipped away at, they have been conditioned to have their rights taken away, to be degraded and dehumanized.. to be electronically stripped naked if they want to travel or to have their genitals molested for walking down the street.. to be tracked and monitored, to be afraid for what they say because some might be watching so they can use it against them... chemically dumbed down and made sick.. brainwashed and soon disarmed too.

I have no faith in humanity coming out of this one, especially not in my lifetime. Everyone is f*cked as far as I can tell. Im not even sure if Russia and China are legit or just some orwellian constant enemy for the future.

Do bad ideas cancel out good ideas? I don't think anyone here would argue in favor of slavery.

Also, not all the founding fathers owned slaves. Some, such as Patrick Henry, thought the Constitution was *too* powerful, so it's not as if they agreed on everything.

That was the times, for someone to come out and say the world is round when everyone thought it was flat could get you killed.(okay I probably was wrong on that one :D I think they just thought he was an idiot.. speaking your mind used to get you killed is the point and it did, often.)

The first thing moses god did when he freed his people was teach them how to make slaves of their own, that doesnt get talked about much lol.. also, slavery drove the economy.. it was kinda a big deal and the reason a whole war was fought over the states rights to allow it. Half your country fought for that war, do you suggest that everything that came out of the south in the US is totally discredited purely because they also enjoyed themselves some slavery?

Just to be clear, not supporting slavery, just a moot point that because the founding fathers were for what the extreme vast majority of people were for at that time that their views on freedom are nullified and invalidated.

It makes me sick the people who come up with all this horsesh*t in order to defame the people who fought and died so you could have the right to defame them. They made the absolute best country in the world based off their ideals and kept it safe and strong.. to go against the key things they stood for(pro-slavery not being one of them) is nothing short of heresy.

It's never because they were for slaves, its always because you have no arguments against guns(or free speech, or for illegal arrest/search whatever constitutional right of the day is blocking you from harassing people) that justify unconstitutional laws.. so you have to try to ruin the view of the people who are f*cking heroes.. Im not even American and it makes me f*cking puke the disrespect those people get because of the sick and twisted mindset of people today.

They way everyone has been castrated and turned into a little bitch these days is a disgrace, it's no wonder there's open tyranny when men are dressing and acting like they have a vagina.

No, half my country didn't fight for that war. Those States seceded, and declared themselves sovereign, i.e. a different country. My country defeated them, then for better or worse allowed them back into the fold. Beyond that, how's the South doing these days? I bet they're totally not still bitter at losing, and I'm positive they're not still waving their flag around.

They are? Huh. How's that for freedom? Not only did we beat them, we're still letting them wave that rag as if it's something to be proud of. Yay for the 1st, I guess.

Keep telling yourself it's the absolute best country in the world. Better yet, go to as many other countries as you can and be sure to tell them that yours is the absolute best country in the world. You won't be alone, sadly. I can't tell you how many Americans I come across that are the epitome of the stereotype, reinforcing the idea that we're all a bunch of flag-waving yahoos.

"the founding fathers were for what the extreme vast majority of white, male property-owners were for at that time"

Fixed that for you.

Funny thing is, *your* country were the people who were supplying southerners with slaves in the first place. Also, some CSA states, such as Tennessee, abolished slavery before the Civil War.

lol.. This thread.

Generally speaking Canada is filled with very caring, non racist people who don't cower behind guns like its their god given right.

But there are many bad/violent people in Canada. Also, Canadians are the type of people that would kick your ass, but still buy you a beer after instead of shooting you.

You are everything wrong with America today, it was the best country in the world until about the last 20-100 years when the corporate empire took over. Started in the 1900s 1910s.

People like you are what is holding the US back from being a good country again. Pathetic little man child outraged about a bunch of non issues.

tell them that yours is the absolute best country in the world.

Like I said, Im Canadian and I have never been there. The US was the absolute best country in the world for a long long time, which is why people came from all over to be there. It's not even the US anymore, it's just some police state now.

It's only since pussies like you started straying from what the country was built on, denying your duties as a citizen that the country has gone to sh*t.

Well thats a mighty turd you just dropped in the punch bowl, I think I will have to take my leave. I will however say that if you want to see the reason the black crime rate is so high, you might look to what caused it in the first place.. and realize that it's not exactly their fault they are put in the sh*t situation they are still in.

Also, more people die of medical malpractice in the US than to guns each year.

More children die by choking on things in the US each year than people who die by guns.

Ban doctors/surgeons and all small objects!

Id much rather live in a peaceful country where my neighbour is a drunk or a hippy then a country where your neighbour could have a weapons chache large enough to supply Merryweather.

Its no wonder Americas crime rate is so high. Lets allow everyone (even irresponsible 18 yr olds) to easily access guns & make it ok for them to carry them around everywhere.

Dont get me wrong, i have nothing against the typical american, but i really dont understand why so many have such strange views of Canadians & decide to poke fun at us with only a stereotype as backing or reason. Its Americans like that which make their country one of the most hated across the globe.

First of all, Merryweather isn't real. Based on the statements you've made so far, It wouldn't surprise me if you thought otherwise.

Secondly, nobody in America is allowed to access guns without license and permit. Can't fault the government if the people are smart enough to find workarounds.

You have no clue what goes on in America. You should watch less FOX news and blockbuster American movies that you love so much, and stick to your own local neighborhood news channel with your favorite tv show featuring that guy that also works part-time at the Tim Hortons down the street of where you live.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Canadians or their arsenal of lame slang words, but I really don't understand why this We Hate America bandwagon exist. Is this what your Kings and Prime Minsters teach you in school or something? America is hated by people in some countries to some extent, sure, but its funny how many more people "across the globe" still admire America. The center of the universe. Thank you.

Fyi, in America this is what we call jokes.

Obviously Merryweather isnt real. Used it as an analogy.

Access to weapons without a permit is much easier on your side of the border then it is here. Therefore weapon related crime is much higher. Thats basically all i was getting at.

I have no clue what goes on in America just as you have no clue as to what goes on in Canada. Whats you point exactly?

Im not sure why that bandwagon exists either. Same goes for the stereotypes associated with both our great countries.

Thats odd, jokes are typically funny....

Most of Canada's population borders the USA. They practically share the same slang and speak the same on both sides of the border.

Not even close. There are many slang words Canadians use that Americans do not. Same goes for Britain or any other country. For instance, he used the word "canuck" earlier. I don't know what the hell that is. Don't care. Sounds like a bird. How uncultured are you that you don't know every country has their own slang? We Americans certainly don't say "the loo" when referring to toilets in America. Don't say mate when referring to a friend like Australians apparently do. Mating is practically animal sex. Anyway these are just examples. You should pay more attention in school.

Thats odd, jokes are typically funny....

A few of my best friends are American and are usually embarrassed by how stupid and ignorant the majority of their population is. And honestly I feel bad for them..lol

No wonder they want to move here so bad..

How in the hell are your best friends American if you live in Canada? I'm inclined to believe that you aren't liked very well by the other kids at your school (and well, for good reason- you're an idiot) which is why you sought after American friends. Furthermore how/why are these fictional friends of yours "usually embarrassed by how stupid and ignorant the majority of their population is"? This is too funny. This can only be written.
