why do people use lock on missiles?

especially in jet deathmatch, they're horrible.

lock on is so nooby too, i hate when people freak out when they manage to kill you with one. if you just figure out how to fly, you can completely obliterate the lobby using the jets main cannon, just take a few minutes to practice and voila

The skill is to avoid the missiles.. Nooby? A moving jet isn't something that you can just hit with stray missiles anyway.

 

As with the cannon, no.. I'm pretty good at flying the fighter jet, but the range is sh*thouse so you have to nose-dive pretty close and hope for the best.

I wish they would ditch the lock-on. It's really annoying when it locks onto cars and I am trying to free aim.

I usually just aim with the guns, then hit (X)/(Square) and the trigger right after. It'll shoot the rockets straight where you're aimin'.

anyway, yeah the lock on is pretty useless

only just found out how usefull the main cannon on the jet is when I did a game of Top fun yesterday, this one guy kept bragging how he was gonna get all the kills with just the cannon and how people shouldn't use the missiles

I was like, ok gonna give it a try and I killed every1 at once winning us the game XD

Lol ppl complaint about everything don't they? First of all, for certain targets you can not not use lock on, second, the lock on missiles just like aim assist, IS AVOIDABLE. You gotta be either 1 deaf, or 2. Too slow to dodge a locked on missile. Go watch some top gun and let Tom cruise teach you a thing or two....

What the hell? For one the lock on helps keep your opponent on his toes while you get in close for the kills shot with your cannons. Just using cannons only is for obvious unnecessary try-hards.

The Air Force called...they will be removing lock on features from their Sidewinders and AMRAAMs after reading this post...you know...fairness to the enemy.
