I just can't seem to find anything on this and R* never replied.

 

So maybe someone here can point me in the right direction. (Other then the trouble shooting section)

 

 

A few days ago my friend ran into a problem when joining GTA Online.

 

He can join online, but it stays in the cloud and never fully loads his character. Its like it won't let him in.

 

Funny thing is he can create a new character and join gta online no problem.

 

 

 

 

 

So, does anyone know if hes f*cked? Is his character glitched/bugged?

 

His character is still there on the character swap screen. I dunno what to tell the guy... Should he just give up?

sounds like hes timed out, meaning his connection is too slow. have him start with router reset and check his soeed

The cloud servers go down from time to time and if you're not already in the game, you are unable to access them until they're back up.

He should NOT make a new character over his other one, or repeatedly try and join. What he needs to do is wait a bit until they are back online and see if he can then join.

When it says unavailable and it takes you back to single player, don't hit "retry". Have him go back to the single player and then character wheel switch to his online character, even if the face isn't there on the wheel. That way it will safely try and load him in the game without overwriting his character or something.

If the problem is still happening after a few hours, it may be his network. Does he know his NAT type? If it is set to strict or moderate, it may not let him join others.

Hes on 360..

 

 

I made him check everything. Even had him plug his modem directly into his xbox to bypass his router and nothing.

 

 

 

 

Every game he has works, even his new character he made on GTA online loads up no problem. Its just his one character won't load.

 

 

I mean, he can load up GTA online with his new character then try to swap to his real character and nothing happens. Just sits in the clouds.

Yeah, it could be a corrupt save file, in which case he is probably screwed... did he glitch any weird cars into his garage or anything like that? Sometimes my game freezes in my garage even though i don't have any glitched cars, but something about how the cars are modified or saved makes it crash alot

If he can load in on a different character and play it just fine (over several different sessions), it's a corrupt save file. If it's not something Rockstar can fix on their end/restore, it's a lost/corrupted character and it's lost.

Naw, hes legit and poor...lol

 

 

His xbox was acting wonky signing in and out all the time after the last update, which he had to fix. After he fixed it, this happened is when this started to happen.

Update on this... Maybe this will help someone.

 

My friend could not load on to GTA online. We thought it was corrupted and his character gone.

 

But... After kicking him from my crew he ended up being able to load onto GTA online again.

 

 

So, if you have this problem and are a part of a crew. Leave the crew via social club ONLY. This might help you load you character back. It worked for my friend.
