Stuck without a mission after only 12%

right, please excuse me because i am not a complete gamer who has every new game & sits there for hours on end so i may not know all the tricks in the book but basicly:

 

i am playing the story mode, and i have only passed 12%. i have no missions available on the menu, no one i can call, the car garage is not open, im not far enough to change character, i have played through about 5 hours and nothing has came up. It started failing since i skipped the race around town. ( i failed 3 times so it asked me if i wanted to skip the mission, i said yes and then it told me i had passed with bronze ) since that i then did the paparazi mission where i followed some woman in a car recording her until she crashed? and ever since then i have not been offered a new mission

 

i know to most people this is missions that have been passed weeks ago but iv only just had this brought for my birthday & it is doing my head in!

 

i really hope i dont have to start again, i know its only a small % but still alot of hours gone into it

Have you tried restarting from your last save point?

Try looking at character switch wheel and switch to whomever is flashing. Also each character in the wheel should have number next to them letting you know how many missions are availible to them. I think it includes side missions as well which kinda sucks in this situation

Try calling characters with your phone? I honestly can't remember the order the missions occur in. If you could tell us what your save file says was the last mission you played, it would help gauge what storyline mission is coming up next for you. I'm guessing if you can't switch characters yet you are right before the mission where you go to Michael's mansion, anyone else think this is the right one?

 

I'm surprised you can't switch characters yet, you do that by holding down on the D-pad. You get the ability to do it pretty early on, too...

 

The street race mission isn't part of the main storyline so you are allowed to skip it. It shouldn't make the game break like this.

 

Are there any question marks on the map? Those are missions. Go to them. It can sometimes be hard to spot them on the map, I've found.
