"GTA: VC," for all its scope and variety, falls victim to a plague of bugs and glitches. These crop up most prominently during missions in the game. Vehicles will disappear from your garage at random, making collecting your favorite cars a difficult task. Cutscenes will often make vehicles disappear entirely for no apparent reason, leaving you without a ride. Should this occur during a mid-mission cutscene, you can easily find yourself without your planned getaway vehicle. Also, while running around on foot, occasionally Tommy will lose three health points without any explanation whatsoever. AI characters you're attempting to escort will become unable to find doorways, get caught in walls, and sometimes even die from the same mysterious health loss that Tommy suffers from. Cops on the ground will occasionally bust you while you're in a helicopter 400 feet above them. Guns will occasionally refuse to fire. The firing animation will play, but no bullets leave the gun. Perhaps worst of all, enemies can not only "see" you wherever you are at all times, but they're very adept at shooting you through solid walls. Objects can be reliable cover one minute and a deathtrap the next, as enemies blindly charge you and stick their gun barrels through solid steel and into your chest. "GTA3" had its share of quirky bugs, but none of them affected gameplay in the way bugs in "GTA: VC" do. Mission failure is usually due to the buggy antics of the game itself, not legitimate player error. This causes the frustration level to skyrocket for anyone trying to play "GTA: VC" as a game, rather than using it as a toy to play around with. What the game really needs, especially considering the bug problems, is a way to simply restart a mission immediately, rather than having to gather up weapons again and reactivate the mission. I agree with the review. The game was clearly rushed to be out in time for the Holiday buying season. GTA3 >>>>>>> GTA:VC I can live with the bugs, the delete-your-save bug notwithstanding, but what I can't live with is the fact that it was so short. I don't know how long GTA3 was in comparison, but it certainly felt longer. My biggets gripe is probably the fact that the story goes nowhere. The missions seem random and nothing ever really happens. I have 2 missions left to go (which I wouldn't be aware of if I hadn't been forced to GameFAQs to see where to go next after Cop Land :| ). *spoilers* The story could have been so much more. The Colonel and the French never goes anywehre. He just leaves. Mercedes is in the game...why? Love Fist missions are pointless, if very funny. I especially hate how the game basically ends once you take over the city. The game should just be beginning at this point; either that or the rise to the top should have been more than just killing Diaz. I never felt in the preceding missions that I was accomplishing anything. They could have threaded the plot throughout the missions but either they didn't want to bother or they didn't have time before they rushed this thing out the door. The novelty offered by the GTA universe is wearing thin; R* should put more effort into story and game design and less into radio commercials and getting the rights to famous songs. DarkPretender
interesting review, he sure had alot to say bout it beign bad considering he gave it a 4/5. There is alot improved also, and yes i dont like the glitches, but then again, alot of those glitches he said i never have experience. I learned from the dounald love missions in gta3 that you never park your car near a mission marker (pink thingy) beacuse in gta3 i never had a ride during his missions, so i never experience what this guy has. and then again if the cut seen goes WHERE you parked your car, it only makes sense to get ride of it, would you perfer to see them walking through the car? As for the gun glitch...interesting i ahve only experiance it once. He makes it seem like they are big big glitches that pop up every 5 seconds. I never seem to have them, then again i dont try to do wacky things and then complain cause im not allowed. As for your story line comment, very very good point. I think they should have done more with it. And they were tryign to rush it for xmas, but they still could have delayed it a month (even tho that is cutting it close). All in all, the extras I got seem to overpower the few glitches i have encountered and the lack of storyline is picked up with the huge ammount of extra missions and vechicle additions. The police AI is much harder and the whole weapon system impresses me. I think it was worth it 9.5 outta 10 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/64817-and-the-real-reviews-start-to-roll-in/#findComment-565689 Share on other sites
ConFlict
The only glitches that ive experienced so far are the losing 3 health suspiciously and of course, the AI walking into walls, but thats bound to happen. Also, the only time my cars have been deleted during cutscenes were when they need to be (like the mission "The Driver" or missions where the space wouldve been occupied during the cutscene). Ive learned to park your car in the street before going into the pink marker. Super Gimp
I think the 3 helth thing he is talking about is falling but not when you roll or when runing dow stairs and the other ones like the guns I only have them disapear after a mission that used the same type or if I do a rampage and its allways the gun in that slot and only that one and I have never failed a mission due to a glitch I failed due to a stuped mistake like trying to run through death row or *Spoilers* running upto diaz in the mission that your suposed to kill him befor killing the two guys beside him and stuff like that and fliping lance out of the boat and things like that but that is about they only reason I fail because of dumb mistakes Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/64817-and-the-real-reviews-start-to-roll-in/#findComment-565723 Share on other sites
gtame
Stupid things like running through death row? I did that and passed it first try. I beat it for my friends too.
