Journey_95 Posted November 9, 2013 Share Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) It seems Rockstar wants to move away from that serious type of protagonist as one can see in GTA V but I really liked Niko He was badass, had a interesting background and was easily the most fleshed out GTA protagonist ever Anyone agrees and hopes Rockstar will return to that kind of protag and also in terms of story? Maybe GTA IV was too dark at times and maybe they removed funny gameplay mechanics (for no reason in my opinion) but with GTA V it seems Rockstar don't wants to return to that kind of story and character at all (and even city as Liberty City feels like a real crime-ridden City and Los Santos just fake) Edited November 9, 2013 by gtarules_95 UltraGizmo64 and kvic 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He was always whiny and even though he wanted revenge for his mom, he still went ahead and did other stuff which was both meaningless and worthless. He only did those things for Wu-Zi Mu because Wu-Zi Mu became a friend, and he met Wu-Zi in a race set up for him by Ceaser, the guy who helped him figure out who killed his mom in the first place. CJ didn't want to work on the garage in San Fierro either, but Kendell convinced him to do it. The casino was Wu-Zi's, and by that point he was distracted with all the other stuff that people were asking him to do (as well as being blackmailed by Toreno, and indebted to the Don Salvatore Leonne.) He couldn't really break Sweet out of jail, take the hood back, or go near Big Smoke because CRASH had him by the balls until Hernandez snitched to IA, and the riot had broken out. He was definitely a huge wimp though. Anyway, you said Niko had an interesting background, and I really wished they went more into it! Maybe with emails from family or something (I know his mom sends him one at the beginning of the game, hinting at how bad it is back home, but I don't remember any more.) All we really get is him coming off the boat, and occasionally lapsing into war stories when he talks with friends. Lots of people still argue over whether he's even Serbian or not! Anyway Niko is definitely the best. He's down to earth, caring, realistic and doesn't take sh*t from anyone. He has a real flawed personality which R* never tried to sugarcoat. He's just cool, calm and collected but still pretty darn bad ass when he needs to be. 3rd imo would be Vic Vance, followed by Johnny, Tommy, Luis, Tony, Claude and Huang Lee in that order. But Niko is good protagonist at all, the only thing i disliked is why Rockstar set Niko as Serbian cold killer with background story how he was killing people, doing genocide in Yugoslavia's war and all that.
