Colognenigguh
Am I the only one who hates the fist fighting system ? In GTA 4 I loved to visit the projects and have some nice fights but in Gta 5 you only run 10m and then slam somebody in the head that he dies or when you really have a brawl and your opponent is prepared you maybe throw one punch and for the rest your character automatically kickst the opponent in the groin and knocks him out ?! I hate how when I press the punch button the character kicks . Although the fighting system in GTA 4 feels more stiff I enjoyed it way more than the GTA 5 system. At first I loved to throw the sucker punches but I didn’t expected that every punch would be like this. In the end GTA 4 also has more attacks than GTA 5. In Gta 5 there are two slaps one sucker punch a jab and a straight punch and one kick. In GTA 4 theres a headbutt a knee strike a jab various hooks kicks and at the ground theres the ability to soccer kick and stomp kick also you had the counter attacks. In GTA 5 the kicks when the opponent is on the ground just look so unrealistic. And if you want to soccer kick you first have to step away from the opponent. What is your opinion on the fight system ? B Dawg, American Viking and UshaB
American Viking
You've said it all partner. To be honest, the melee combat in GTA 5 was not a focus of the game and probably received like an hour of programming. I did enjoy the one punch knockouts in GTA 5 though. In GTA 4, Niko was a Krav Maga expert so they wanted to reflect that and they did very well. Edited November 30, 2014 by American Alpha
rushinplay
yeah, the characters should have different styles, I thought not having trevor be able to bite people was a huge missed opportunity.
king1369
It's always been a dream of mine for rockstar to integrate the fight system they used in the warriors or at least something close to it. UshaB
It was bad. GTA 5's was not engaging, it was simple and boring. I want the Queensbury Boxing Club to be added in the game and train my Franklin to the max and beat up steroid junkies. Colognenigguh

Octavio89
The melee fighting system is one of the many things that are worse than in GTA IV, just like driving physics or the car damage model for instance. MonsterCockDude
The fighting system was dumbed down and a lot worse but at least in first person mode it seems a bit better compared to the PS3 or 360 version of it. What the game needs, is a left hand a right hand punch button, that when pressed softly does a quick jab or straight punch, and when held or hit hard does a hook or upper cut or overhand right depending on how close you are or how hard you hit the button. When close you also need to be able to run into the guy to shove him or be able to grab and clinch someone and take them down or choke them. Also you need to make footwork and head movement more important. Make it so the AI is smarter and doesn't only throw slow right hands, but has different fighting styles, some guys jab and move around a lot and are fast, other guys are really defensive, big heavy guys try to take you down or grab you, guys who throw power punches, put them in. Cyper
What is it to say? The fact is that the fighting system is far less complex than in GTA 4. There is just one button. There is no variation in techniques. Fighting does not engage you when you play at all. Welcome back to the PS2 era, with one exceptional difference: you can kill someone with one punch.
