When they said a deep level of customization on guns and cars I expected more. Not the same 3 accessories for every gun. Or that 1 out of every ten cars has 2 bumpers to choose from.

Exactly what kind of weapon mods do you expect? There is only so much you can do with a gun.

Geralt of Rivia

The press release goes on to describe GTA V as a, 'bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer'.

So whats the BOLD new direction?

3 protagonists, story revolving around heists instead of going from bottom to the top like usual, can do a mission multiple ways, doing something they've never done before in multiplayer

Here I am going to show you the misleading BS Rockstar pulled with GTA V's Marketing: Some of these will be half truths and some will be misconceptions.

GTA V Trailer 1

First off, they make Michael sound like a retired crime boss and someone who moved here to escape that life and settle down with his family but in reality he is nothing but a coward who left his friends for dead and went into witness protection.

(00:27)

Look at the hill and compare it to the final release, it looked so much more detailed in the trailer, so full of life but in the final game it looks bland, boring and dead.

(00:39) Just look at Michael, people used to call him "The Balcony Guy", just look at the way Rockstar show him looking back at us as if he is a deep character but he clearly isn't in the final game.

(00:45) This game was hyped to be a game about money, about heists, look at the way they show us in the trailer, people were really thrilled as they enjoyed the bank mission in GTA IV, in this game however the heists are poorly delivered and over hyped as a way to mislead the public.

(00:54) Look at this nosense. This was clearly Rockstar trying to imply that we could buy houses, note the house number and the for sale sign. 2405 was nothing but a joke as all we received on 24/05 2012 was Max Payne info which no one wanted.

(01:00) The jet is travelling very fast in the trailer, however in the full game it as so slow it's as if we're playing with plastic planes, what were they thinking? Some say they made the planes slow so that the map would feel bigger, if this is true, then they clearly made a foolish decision.

(01:01) They have someone appearing to be thrown out of a club, this is obviously going to get the attention of those who played The Ballad Of Gay Tony, but when it comes down to the reality of the fact, we can only go in that interior on a limited basis and there is no bouncer jobs, which is pathetic.

(01:04) Oh the irony, how they make the cop chase look interesting and how the red car managed to bash the blue car out of it's way so easily, when we look at the true game, cop chases are mostly annoying at times and crash into a car causes you to loose up to half your health.

(01:06) Look at this. Don't tell me for a second that you don't think they did they didn't do this on purpose to hype up SA fans. Clearly this was a cheap way to gain hype, so easy for them to have a guy in a tank top running from the cops, people even though he was CJ, LMAO.

So as you can see the first trailer was nothing but a extremely overhyped and misleading video. The lack of Trevor is also funny because Rockstar hyped him up to be the most interesting character who was a badass and relentless but when we look at the real Trevor, he doesn't know what he is doing, he eats human stew whic is just pushing it, Trevor could have been a great character but he was nothing more than a shock character used to scare and excite people.

There are many more things to call out on this game for those who are not blind to Rockstar's nonsense.

First off, they make Michael sound like a retired crime boss and someone who moved here to escape that life and settle down with his family but in reality he is nothing but a coward who left his friends for dead and went into witness protection.

Not really. They make him sound like he was a criminal doing some kind of criminal work and that he wanted to retire from the life and be a family man. Which he did.

Look at the hill and compare it to the final release, it looked so much more detailed in the trailer, so full of life but in the final game it looks bland, boring and dead.

The game had just started development. There is also a building with no texture in one scene in the trailer. Should they have just left it as is to make sure this trailer was 100% accurate? It's like complaining about a movie trailer having a deleted scene in it. Things aren't done yet so expect changes.

Just look at Michael, people used to call him "The Balcony Guy", just look at the way Rockstar show him looking back at us as if he is a deep character but he clearly isn't in the final game.

You're counting him standing on a balcony and turning misleading. Are you serious? It was just their way of putting him in the dang trailer to tease us. It really implies nothing about his character whatsoever.

This game was hyped to be a game about money, about heists, look at the way they show us in the trailer, people were really thrilled as they enjoyed the bank mission in GTA IV, in this game however the heists are poorly delivered and over hyped as a way to mislead the public.

"Pursuit of the dollar" could be seen as a lie, but the game does deal with money in many ways. Michael needs it, Trevor needs it, Franklin wants to get paper without getting killed. Hell, every GTA is about money to an extent. This part of the trailer suggests nothing about the heists themselves but is just showing off Los Santos.

Look at this nosense. This was clearly Rockstar trying to imply that we could buy houses, note the house number and the for sale sign. 2405 was nothing but a joke as all we received on 24/05 2012 was Max Payne info which no one wanted.

This does not imply that in the slightest. It simply means that one npc was putting his house up for sale. It really represents the need for money in today's world. Like the bum holding the sign about needing money.

The jet is travelling very fast in the trailer, however in the full game it as so slow it's as if we're playing with plastic planes, what were they thinking? Some say they made the planes slow so that the map would feel bigger, if this is true, then they clearly made a foolish decision.

The jet is slow to you? Geeze you must be expecting supersonic speeds or something, which would be ridiculous. Even then they never promised us that we could fly the jets only that jets would be flying around in the game.

They have someone appearing to be thrown out of a club, this is obviously going to get the attention of those who played The Ballad Of Gay Tony, but when it comes down to the reality of the fact, we can only go in that interior on a limited basis and there is no bouncer jobs, which is pathetic.

It is likely part of the pedestrian things that got scrapped. They were showing us everything based upon the current status of the game.

Oh the irony, how they make the cop chase look interesting and how the red car managed to bash the blue car out of it's way so easily, when we look at the true game, cop chases are mostly annoying at times and crash into a car causes you to loose up to half your health.

The red car only barely hits the blue one and sends it spinning. It doesn't bash it out of the way.

Look at this. Don't tell me for a second that you don't think they did they didn't do this on purpose to hype up SA fans. Clearly this was a cheap way to gain hype, so easy for them to have a guy in a tank top running from the cops, people even though he was CJ, LMAO. They did a lot of things in V to throw back to SA. A pedestrian who looks like CJ is no surprise and it's no surprise they used him. They were trying to cater to those who liked the old 3D era titles. I'm pretty sure they were also focusing on the world more than on the three characters for trailer 1.

All I really see from your post is that you made a lot of assumptions and they ended up not being true so you're crying about Rockstar lying to you when you really just made it all up in your own head.

Map,music, characters, story - all great. If you don't like them, that's simply opinion (as is mine).

Cops are fine - their cars seem a little too quick sometimes but they're easy enough to deal with generally. If you wish you could go on murderous rampages like previous games, too bad. This installment isnt like that.

Online started badly but has been stable for weeks now and in my opinion is fun. Again, its a matter of opinion - if you don't like the way the gameplay is designed that's a shame but plenty of people do.

No, YOU made Michael sound like a retired crime boss. How they said it pointed to nothing. Knowing he's a retired bank robber makes sense when you watch the trailer again.

(00:27)

Look at the hill and compare it to the final release, it looked so much more detailed in the trailer, so full of life but in the final game it looks bland, boring and dead.

Look at Spamtackey's post.

(00:39) Just look at Michael, people used to call him "The Balcony Guy", just look at the way Rockstar show him looking back at us as if he is a deep character but he clearly isn't in the final game.

He's not a deep character? Are you serious? He has betrayed his friends, and he has ruined his marriage, and he's dealing with all of this, on top of everything that happens in the story. How is it not deep? Not only that, but all he did was look in the trailer. That's it. What YOU thought about him is what YOU thought about him.

(00:45) This game was hyped to be a game about money, about heists, look at the way they show us in the trailer, people were really thrilled as they enjoyed the bank mission in GTA IV, in this game however the heists are poorly delivered and over hyped as a way to mislead the public.

It is a game about money and heists. R* didn't go out and say "We deliver the best heists around". It's overhyped by the people, that's all. R* said the story revolved around heists, and that you can plan them. That's 100% true. You are the one that overhyped them. You probably thought heists like Payday 2 or something.

(00:54) Look at this nosense. This was clearly Rockstar trying to imply that we could buy houses, note the house number and the for sale sign. 2405 was nothing but a joke as all we received on 24/05 2012 was Max Payne info which no one wanted.

Oh really, it was clearly implying we could buy houses? Anyway, even if it was, R* didn't lie, because they said before release that we couldn't buy houses.

(01:00) The jet is travelling very fast in the trailer, however in the full game it as so slow it's as if we're playing with plastic planes, what were they thinking? Some say they made the planes slow so that the map would feel bigger, if this is true, then they clearly made a foolish decision.

That's for the trailer. If the jet traveled that fast in the game, you'd pass the map in 5 seconds. Would you rather have that?

(01:01) They have someone appearing to be thrown out of a club, this is obviously going to get the attention of those who played The Ballad Of Gay Tony, but when it comes down to the reality of the fact, we can only go in that interior on a limited basis and there is no bouncer jobs, which is pathetic.

You can go into the strip club at any time, actually, and there's no hint at having bouncer jobs. It shows NPC interaction for the sake of the trailer.

(01:04) Oh the irony, how they make the cop chase look interesting and how the red car managed to bash the blue car out of it's way so easily, when we look at the true game, cop chases are mostly annoying at times and crash into a car causes you to loose up to half your health.

The red car barely hit the blue car, but he hit it in a spot which caused it to spin. Plus, the whole second part of that comment is subjective.

(01:06) Look at this. Don't tell me for a second that you don't think they did they didn't do this on purpose to hype up SA fans. Clearly this was a cheap way to gain hype, so easy for them to have a guy in a tank top running from the cops, people even though he was CJ, LMAO.

It shows a guy running from the cops, and guess what? There's NPC's running away from the cops in the game! Don't know what you're trying here.

No, actually, all it shows is that this was early development for the game. Try to get something more recent? Because, even though you nitpicked to the max, you still failed doing so.

There are many more things to call out on this game for those who are not blind to Rockstar's nonsense.

I love how you give us the first trailer, which was basically an announcement, and then get almost everything wrong. How about next time, you get something more recent? You know, something that's not just an announcement?

Spamtackey tells it better than me.

Actually, I can sum up the stupidity of it in two sentences:

I mean, the trailer only shows 2 (Maybe even only one) protagonist, so R* lied by having 3.. They lied by putting in antagonists.

See what I mean?

What other kinds of mods is there for guns lol thats a laugh. I dont know maybe reflex sights, agog sights, rifle scopes on smgs or mgs. Lasers, barrel extensions. Maybe an assault rifle scope I can actually look through. Grenade launchers on AR or a shottie under barrel.

I could go on and on.

I

And then you will say go play cod then which I havent since black ops. I just expected when they say we can customize our guns it wouldnt just be 4 different things that go on every gun.

See? That's what we're talking about. When they said it, YOU didn't expect it to be what it is. YOU expected it to be more, even though R* said nothing of the fact.

Could they have done more? Absolutely, but I think what they have is leap and bounds ahead of what they did with GTA 4, don't you think?

Spamtackey tells it better than me

I think our arguments compliment each other nicely. It's just ridiculous to believe anything is 'implicated' by the first trailer.

In the entire ad campaign, the worst implication I can think of from Rockstar would be the safehouse website in the single player gameplay trailer, and I would chalk that one up to them choosing a poor visual to represent buying real estate (which was just businesses in the single player). Perhaps showing someone purchasing a property would have been better.

It's sad yet funny how they plan these trailers out perfectly to mislead their consumers.

They most likely laughed about it behind the scenes.

Everything will be fine as long as Dan Houser can buy an eleven room apartment in Brooklyn Heights.

You basically just kept asking for more scopes in different ways. ACOG's are in the game. So are scopes for the SMG's. We can't look through them but they are there.

I'll agree that the 203 attachment should have been in the game. That was a big miss.

Here is an example of changes made during trailers in a popular blockbuster movie:

The Dark Knight Trailer: "Here is my card"

The Dark Knight Movie Scene (bad audio but it serves the purpose of this demonstration).
You can clearly see they did not include the part where he takes the card out from his jacket. If you could hear the audio you could hear that he says it differently too. Were they falsely advertising the movie? No. Things changed.
In the movie Predators (I believe) there was a scene where Adrian Brody was being aimed at by like 5 different predators. It's not in the movie. The director admits he filmed it for the trailer. This is false advertising. It is placing a scene that was never intended to be in the final product in the advertising to make us more interested.
To my knowledge, Rockstar never put anything in the trailers that they intended to cut. Were things cut? Yes. Did they know at the time of advertising? Highly unlikely.

The game was over hyped and unfinished. That's my opinion. You aren't going to change my opinion. or the OPs.

I wouldn't go as far as to say R* lied about everything. They definitely over exaggerated some stuff, but that's advertising.

To those of you saying he should sell it and leave, please remove the R* penis from you mouth and stop posting in rant threads.

While I am disappointed with some of the gameplay and lack of features, I can still manage to play for hours and enjoy it. Sometimes.

I like how he blames the game for his inability to pay attention. It said "buy the shotgun and flashlight" and then it even said it on the screen. Then he went ahead and bought other things. Then he complains that he failed and says "I didn't know you had to do that!!"

What a retard.

Waiting for the series to become as mainstream and stupid as Saint's Row.

I'm not really getting the guys who defend the game like it was their mission to do it... if R* screws something up, then be mature enough to give some proper feedback which will lead to fixes and upgrades regarding flawed gameplay elements in their games. V is a step back from some of R*'s latest games, although they've tried to mash them up in GTA... Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption, and Midnight Club: Los Angeles... three games in one, with the problem of perfectly realized features being cut and downgraded.

If you are a GTA fan, you'll understand what's wrong with the game...

DON'T GET ME WRONG!

I like GTA V and it delivers so much stuff I was wishing for in a GTA game, but it sometimes hurts how they've overlooked obvious features like essential elements of the series (Paramedic missions, firefighter missions, vigilante missions -- even though this last one was great in IV.), and some improvements on meelee fighting. (Come on... I don't want a Sleeping Dogs styled mechanism, but at least give it a try.)

Also the story was short... I just simply can't understand why they've included the heist preparation nonsense as complete missions, whereas in past GTAs, those would have been some kind of side activities.

There are other parts of the games that are flawed in my opinion, but that's really a matter of opinion. I also have to admit that I'm not really the multiplayer kind of guy, so I'm not taking multiplayer into account... I've tried it though... -- also.. Microsoft can suck my dick for making me pay for playing multiplayer games. --

Sell the f*cking game then, move on with your life too. Stop crying to an internet forum, like half of us give a sh*t anyway. Nobody cares. Nobody. Have you noticed, that people in the age range of 17-26 are complaining about problems... IN A VIDEO GAME?

Interesting.

Geralt of Rivia

Waiting for the series to become as mainstream and stupid as Saint's Row.

I'm not really getting the guys who defend the game like it was their mission to do it... if R* screws something up, then be mature enough to give some proper feedback which will lead to fixes and upgrades regarding flawed gameplay elements in their games. V is a step back from some of R*'s latest games, although they've tried to mash them up in GTA... Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption, and Midnight Club: Los Angeles... three games in one, with the problem of perfectly realized features being cut.

If you are a GTA fan, you'll understand what's wrong with the game...

Yes, and that's fine. The people defending it are, for the most part, defending it from people like the OP, who spews nonsense with absolutely nothing but rubbish to back it up.

There's perfectly valid complaints, and we accept that, but when there's retarded hate. For example, AtomicPunk listed 'Only one lawnmower in the game' for a reason why he doesn't like the game. Like, seriously, WTF kind of gripe is that?

@Antagonista: Believe me, I have stuff to do in real life, but right now I have the time to relax a bit and give feedback regarding a game series that makes me entertained when I have the time to play it. Even though I've been a long time fan, I can see that the franchise has reached a stage where the developers have to choose between the realistic, and cartoony approach. V is a great example, because IMO they did make a great job on implementing realistic/less realistic stuff at the same time.

@TheMasterfocker: I'm not really talking about people using valid arguments, but people like some of the guys above you... It's pretty awesome how ignorant one can be and tell you to sell a game if you don't like it, even though you've been a long time fan of the series it belongs to.

BTW, I'm the kind of guy who sends e-mails to Rockstar about stuff like this, but I'm pretty sure they are looking at the forums for feedback. I can even admit that I'm mainly disappointed in the videogame industry itself, and not in GTA.

Algonquin Assassin

Although I love GTA V the first video shows how f*cked up the new cop system is. I've had things like that happen to me many times. What's the point of the search cone radius if you're well hidden and they still know where you are?

I think that's the problem. You have retards on both sides that ruin the reputation of the side they're on.

You have the retards who blindly hate the game with stupid arguments and who constantly call people Cockstar lovers and the like (Example: OP and AtomicPunk)

And then you have the retards who yell at people for their valid opinions (Example: The people you mention).

GTA is already way more mainstream than Saint's Row. Most people outside of the gaming community know nothing about SR while everybody and their mothers knows what GTA is.

Gnocchi Flip Flops

The game is a 7.1/10 by me. Overrated, overhyped, and full of a trashy ass fanbase.
