R*, fix the rappeling (Merryweather helicopter)

As you know, there is a rappeling function in the merryweather heli where you can drop a rope, and rappel down on it, BUT the problem is that there are barely any places where this is possible, so how about this? :

- You can rappel down at every location, but there is a risk that you might fall off.

 

-You can rappel down even when another players controlling a helicopter.

At specific places you can slide down on a rope from the side of the chopper to reach the land. It's a really awesome feature but it can be barely used at the moment

IIRC this can only be used with the Merryweather chopper at the edge of tall buildings.

 

This definitely needs to be improved on, why not just have ropes that you can slide down like SWATS do, but if you hit a wall you start rappelling...

 

And with friends' helis, of course.

They should just make this available for the maverick as a side perk to that chopper or even the annihilator (due to being able to have 4 in the back instead of just 2)

 

I'm kinda mad I know this now because this is so cool but so worthless at the moment and I doubt R* will improve on it. If you could rappel with friends anywhere as long as you had proper height, it'd be perfect.

 

TBH, all they should do is make it so it displays your altitude as a number format in the GUI and tell people that you can be at a Max Altitude of X and people will rappel down safely, else they will just fall off when they reach the bottom of the rope, and given the physics in this game hitting anything while going down would make sense.

Actually you can rappel almost anywhere, the chopper just needs to be a certain height and THAT is the issue, you have keep spamming cancel and go to edge the chopper down and finally get the option to rappel

Yeah the first time I used the merryweather heli I rappelled down to the ground and thought it was cool. The second time he's hovering like 2 stories above ground and he's like ok we're here. I'm like where's the rope moron!? You expect me to jump this!? WTF?

 

Anyway I jumped and the chute BARELY opened in time for me to faceplant on the ground.

It's an awesome feature, I used it once at the top of the FIB building, but never used it again. Mostly because it can't be used in other than buildings.

yeah I repelled down on a friend of mine the other night.. instead of getting a cab I decided to try the MW transport. I wasn't expecting what I got.. I'm on the mic with my buddy telling him on almost there. he's like "where are you" and then I hit the repel option and he's like "HOW THE HELL" as the rope dropped right on his head... LMAO. good times

 

BTW he was not in/on a building... I had the chopper go to my way point - just some random parking lot. I've only done it once so I'm no expert. Perhaps ya'all could elaborate on where it doesn't work, etc.

God damn sweet but that also sucks. My squad-mates and I have been wanting to rappel for so long. It's cool that you can, but a bummer it isn't more integrated. YES you should be able to rappel anywhere from any heli with a winch and of course while your friends fly.

You won't see much content differences in say Pacman, but in this generation, we can modify games well beyond their original form. And this isn't much of a "change", being that SWAT can already do it and characters can.

Well you have a point actually. Is there any way to make a dev notice this?

Since none of the helis have the right directional pad function, save for the cargobob, have the right directional pad drop the ropes and if the players want to use them they can hold Y/Triangle or something.

 

Or along the lines of the directional pad, have the players in the back have the option to push right and drop their own ropes.

No, you have to be the passenger of the merryweather pilot.

Also is it possible for both passengers to rappel down, or only the one who ordered the heli can do it? I never tried it before.

Just so y'all know this isn't called rappelling, it's called fast roping.

You rappel down the side of a building, you fast rope out of a helicopter.
