Does adding a carbon hood make my car faster or just ugly?

SO, does carbon hood actually have any effect on the cars performance?? I really dont like the way they look, so I havent been getting them on any of my cars.

Ugly.

My personal take is that anything except the obvious performance mods are just looks. There is NOTHING in this game to tell me it uses aerodynamics or real physics.

The only grey area for me is the suspension. Technically, lower car means lower center of gravity and better grip. Thing is, you need some real physics simulation parameters to calculate drag and whatnot, so I assume it only adds some percentage to tyre traction / grip / whatever, IF that is the case to begin with.

They're lighter weight, so technically they should increase your maximum speed....depends on how they're coded I guess.

If u look in ifruit, vehicle weight is lessend w carbon parts. Pretty sure u gain top speed but lose handling . Could b countered w armour as accprding to app armour makes vehicle heavier.

Yea, i think they are so ugly...same thing with pretty much all the spoilers. Im assuming they dont have any effect on the overall performance of the car either

Just ugly.

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

I stand corrected then.

However, I`d rather keep the heavier part than the butt ugly slightly faster one. Also, some spoilers are atrocious, just as some cars simply won`t look decent with a blower on top of the hood. And I really would want to know where does this game calculate air intake into an engine, so the blower would actually serve a purpose...

How fast of a boost are we talking about here using the carbon parts ?

In ideal situations, with Formula 1 driving accuracy, probably .2 of a second. I`ll go as far as say one second, ASSUMING it gives a gain to begin with.

Thing is, we got chimps driving the cars and trading paint...

I think - in reality, carbon fibre lightens your car some what, and therefore your car's top speed could increase. But in this game, probably not.

Reducing weight doesn't increase top speed, just acceleration IRL. However, in game it just makes your car ugly.

think the only thing really affected by ride hight is centre of gravity (less bodyroll)

this in turn might affect other things like traction (wheels stay down on the ground more)

but I doubt it actually affects stuff like drag or anything

still not sure about tires either, I just select them based on looks really
