Because they can it's that simple. GTA Online gives you the freedom to make your own choices in freeroam whether it be good or bad.

Those who think FreeMode is all about killing clearly have no idea how to have fun in GTA without a gun.

Yes, it is fun to get in the occasional firefight in FM but I'd rather compete on equal footing;LTS/DM.

I free roam loads more than I did at the start. It does sometimes end in a DM, but I've managed to ride on my bmx and have people watch me on their apartment tv's, and ask if they can join me. There are some decent players out there.

 

I find if you go past another player, and you honk your horn, they are less likely to shoot you for no reason. Doesn't always work mind..

I think it has to do with a lack of communication. Most people don't use mics, so it's almost impossible to approach someone without one shooting the other, since you don't know what the other person is thinking.

 

Personally I adapt to whatever session I'm in. If it's full of dbags and 'griefers', then I'll be a griefing dbag. If it's full of people who want to go off-roading, race, do missions, or just want to be left alone, then I play nice.
