Easiest way to take down helicopters in survival?

Most of the time when playing with randoms, we all go down because we are derping around trying to hit the pilot and stuff with no real good fire power. What is the most efficient way to take care of them?

All I can say is that you need to collect guns & ammo during waves, bunker up at any sight of choppers, kill the footsoldiers first and then shoot at the guys in the back of the chopper. Have a lot of snacks with you, though. They have uncanny aim.

How exactly do the snacks work?

All in the inventory (after buying them from a store). Just go there and use them. Best way to do so is by being glued on a wall, it allows you to rapidly eat snacks (not drinkables) instead of the usual once at a time.

Right, I was wondering whats the best method with them though, with randoms. Sometimes its just the RPG, and it can really suck when a random misses is.

Easy to miss, really. It's not exactly like the chopper is willing to sit around and smile for the bazooka.

Forget the soldiers, aim for the pilot.

If the pilots dead the chopper will crash.

It's not like you can auto-aim for the pilot. Even Sniping is almost impossible. You'd need to sit still long enough to aim, the chopper needs to sit still long enough for you to aim at the pilot and you need to be lucky enough for it to sit tight for a second for the delay between shot and hit. The hitbox for the pilot is almost always obscured by the chopper itself, and I'm fairly certain the glass of the chopper is armored to a degree. Take out the soldiers and the pilot will land.

Yeah I think its better to go after soldiers as they make an easier target, and takes some heat off you.

Minigun

If you manage to make it to the round where you can get a minigun, be forewarned that there's a maximum distance ...

personally assault rifles from two angles at the pilot...

as for snacks if you go to your inventory and scroll to the "player action" option.... set your player action to "eat snack" that way if you press down on your left and right analogue stick (ps3) it will eat the snack... hold it down to take 3 bites instead of jsut one and give a better health boost... if you jsut click it your character will jsut take one bite then toss it away... if your in cover you wont see the animation but the concept is still the same, you go through a third of the snacks this way....

As long as you've got decent cover just use your assault rifle, always works for me.. find it easier than the RPG tbh..!

Nail the chopper itself in a hail of lead and will start smoking and just crash anyway...

I've had luck with the Combat MG but better luck with the grenade launcher. Waiting for them to try to hover over me, pop out of cover and lob the grenade into their blades.

I just make it rain lead upon the helicopters in survival. I usually try to wait until all the foot soldiers are gone and then take out the helicopter. The helicopter spawns at level 4, right?

As far as the helicopter is concerned I usually just focuson dodging its fire until most of the ground units are taken care. I found that most of the time I'd get shot dead two seconds after looking to the skies, so as long as everyone has decent cover its best to take out most of the ground wave first. If whoever has the RPG misses the mark (grenade launcher is definitely easier IMO) I've always been able to take care of the pilot/crew relatively quickly with an assault rifle when the chopper stops and hovers for a moment. I'm not sure about the later waves, but I know with the first chopper (at least on some of the maps) you don't have the actually take out the chopper to pass the wave, just take out the ground units.

I've survived LVL 9-10 of Bone-yard by myself for following a small set of rules that are mentioned here.

- First and foremost, be strategic. Take your time and be mindful of your weapons.

- I tend to use the same technique that Thor used in The Avengers (call it lame, I don't care :p) by using a "Bottle Neck" strategy. Compile the most enemies in one spot and go for it. I always start by throwing a grenade to kick it off. Then finish them off using a weapon of your choice.

- To build on this, between waves during the 16 second interval, I will often place a sticky bomb or two on the vehicles that have compiled near the front of the barn.

- Once you get so far into the levels, the spawning enemies will carry Mini-guns so picking one up shouldn't be a problem. Just remember, you cant use the Mini-gun if you are in cover.

- Location, Location, Location. Find a spot that works for you. Hidden, and possibly under cover for when the Heli's do show up.

Hope this helps. For the most part I feel like it's common sense. Don't be reckless and pay attention to your map to get a heads up on the enemies.

Believe around Wave 8 in the "Processed" Survival enemies will carry mini-guns, also some will be available to pick up on the ground between waves. Probably your best bet for taking down a chopper, though you can't cover while using it which is a down side.

Right what im considering doing is playing Boneyard first because I find it is the easiest map, and that way I will have a minigun to carry over to the other maps.

Both Boneyard as Processed are equally as easy, really. Processed even more so because the hiding place creates a nice pile-up of guns right outside your door and has easy access to both health as armor.

I find sniping them is the easiest, Well for me anyways, drop a chopper pilot in a 2-3 bullets. I don't have the heavy sniper either.

The minigun makes short work of any helicopter and you don't have to aim for the people on it. The minigun is by far the easiest weapon to take down a helicopter with, and the most fun.

But as with any weapon and a helicopter you are open to ground enemies if they are still spawning, and you have to avoid being shot by the helicopter crew while the gun spins up. You have to be out of cover to use the minigun or it will be greyed out.

Minigun is easiest.

Next easiest is Combat MG or MG as they both have better range than the assault rifles.

Then assault rifles, use the Carbine as it has the best range.

Sniping is possible if your aim is very good, otherwise don't bother.

Grenade laucher if the chopper happens to get close enough.

In my experiences trying to down a chopper with the auto pistol, SMG or auto shotgun is a waste of time.

I'm not 100% sure but it does seem like the chopppers will "die" on their own (run out of fuel?) if they fly around for long enough.
