El Dorado
Salutations. You've probably complained about GTA IV performance, don't you? Yes, it's bad. You've probably heard about shadows, especially in recent paches, are true fps killers. Yes, it's true. So, what's the big deal? I just turn shadows off in the graphics settings, save a little video memory and everything should work fine. Sure. But by doing that, you may notice that the game looks a bit strange. Excessive lights, darken textures and whatnot. With this in mind, I started thinking about a way to bypass this "collateral" effect. The answer is in the timecyc. I edited some values on the timecyc. Specifically talking, Ambient Light 0 and Ambient Light 1. Even more specifically talking, Directional Lights. The main goal of this mod is to make GTA IV with shadows off looks like the 3D era games. And I'm sure that with some feedback of your guys, we can do that. I already made a beta, you can grab here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/pai3c1 Installation is simple: 1 - Copy the new timecyc to PC/Data folder; 2 - Turn shadows off on the graphics settings. And please, let me know what you think. H-G
KawakSallas
Interesting. The rainy and cloudy weathers are looking very good. However, the sky seems to be a little dark at sunny weathers, especially at afternoon.

knten108101
I've been playing on lowest settings, shadows off. Usually there should be at least static shadows below objects, but during the sunny hours even they are not rendered. Everything's lit up like a sore thumb. Tried the mod today. Now these shadows appear more consistently, really improved the overall experience! Edited July 5 by knten108101
