I took the liberty of setting up a "GTAF Approved Racers Chat" on the PS3 side, I have invited TBC, Mo & Tolly but don't feel it is my place to invite any others (i'll leave that to Mo and TBC) but my thoughts were only to invite players approved on this thread, the chat room not only helps for the micless, like me it also helps set up games between players possibly not in the same lobby or free mode

 

Also if you want crew challenges look no further than DDZN sure I could get at least 8 members to join up and play by gentleman's rules

does this stay permanently open? I presume its via the PSN chat room facility... ive never really used it as i got a mic shortly after starting my foray into online gaming but i have been in one or two chat sessions, just dont know specifically how they work (other than the obvious lol)

 

would be very handy for a few of our micless racers

Can't you actually plug an actual keyboard into the PS3? I know you can use a keyboard in some games.

On the xbox side of things we have the smartglass which is very nice for people who don't have a mic, you can do voice recognition into chat on that.

Id like to get an idea of which members of RRR have gamer tags for xbox so i can keep an eye out for them but im not sure of easiest way.

Yeah, I don't have a spare keyboard. I've got a mini Apple Bluetooth one but that's it..

 

Always surprised by the speed some people type on PS3 considering the interface!

some of us have fast fingers and happy ladies....

 

but on a more serious note after a bit of practice its quite quick, you get used to how many left and rights it is between common letters

For xbox users there is a little mini keyboard (about the size of your average smart phone keyboard when turned sideways) that pops into place between the palm holds at the bottom. That is what i use...and plug my mic into that so i have both voice and fast typing.

I haven't seen his name on here but I think he is a Forum user. TrueZink is a good clean racer and part of my Crew. He is UK based and I was playing with him one night with another crew mate and he couldn't use his mic at the time. He could hear us talking and used his smartglass to jot down messages so we could read them at the end of every race.

I will search for him on the forum and ask him if he wants to respond here.

How would you guys like it if I were to setup a custom forum on my domain strictly for us? Is someone already working on this? We would have more freedom to make what ever posts we wanted and have multiple threads for setting up events. Maybe I could setup a calendar system.

Would it be counter productive than doing it here?

I don't have a forum setup on it yet but according to my provider they have a built in php forum software I could implement into it or I might be able to use something like beehive forum software or something.

Let me know your guy's thoughts about this.

Got you beat. 32" screen in front of me has cable, Pc and xbox available at the flip of a switch. The Pc also has a second 19" monitor literally mounted on a custom post attached to my recliner that also has a sidetable mounted on it. Keyboard and mouse on a tray across the arms of the chair, the monitor on a swivel that pulls right up in front of me. Plus the keyboard on the xbox controller. PX3 turtle beach headphones...and all devicez are wireless.

Good to see the rapid progress on RRR1, 50% more members than when I joined up a few days ago!

Tried to join Rage with my bro several times last night but it never quite happened. Shockingly, the last 2 nights we've not raced at all (well, 1 between the 2 of us when nobody joined, hardly counts). Lots of free roam car selling, bounty hunting and score settling, with only a couple of jobs thrown in. We find it hard to just ignore people who decide to grief us... break out the rooftop sniper/riot van double whammy.... We will join in some races and RRR stuff but we're very easily distracted, lol.

 

Anyhoo. I have one of those little keypads for PS3, god knows where it's gone. Probably should dig it out, it's a big labour saver, worth having. Everyone's waiting for me to vote and I'm frantically typing, 'lol, cheers' or something equally banal.

 

Noticed my Social Club name is actually Cuzbien rather than Cuz05. Just a heads up. Tolly is now a friend

For those who don't know, the PS keyboard thingy is a small (like really small, Blackberry type buttons) usb keyboard that is to be connected to the controller itself. The small usb port at the back of the PS3 controller is where you connect it to the keyboard.

Thanks to any who joined some of my random races last night, did manage to fill a 16 player lobby for one of them !! hopefully you found anyone with the DDZn tag raced within reasonable measures, I don't believe any of them purposely pit or use your car as their brakes !

 

Feel free to keep joining most of them are aware of RRR1 now and enjoy the challenge !!

Apologies for double post but just noticed this inbetween the pictures of those awesome gaming set ups !

 

Mo, the way I see it is anytime I wanna race I'll join the chat (it remains open forever, or until you delete it !) that way I can join chat see if anyone else is there and communicate and set up from there

 

I did join at the end of my session last night and noticed Tolly had joined so it seems some are using (apologies Tolly for joining and instantly leaving I thought it was around 11:30pm my time when infact it was nearly 1am so I quickly left and went to bed ! )
