Algonquin Assassin

GTA V has the most diverse and beautiful map and GTA IV has the best urban environment IMO.

gta san andreas had best map ( terms of how its made ), gta sa map feels big thanks to a well thought out map. There multiple ways/streets to get somewhere and there like roads + lil bridges next to eachother giving you the feeling theres way more to discover while other gta maps are great but there just boring one way streets giving you the feel you have seen evrything after a drive around the map. This not bout graphics etc. its just bout how well designed it is to give you a feeling the city is 10x bigger as it normally would feel/be.

I haven't played V so Idk if I can really vote here but so far I think San Andreas because it's one of the best maps in a videogame in general. I mean 3 big cities separated by forests, highways and desert. And loads of real life landmarks and real places.

Liberty City from GTA IV as urban type of map with huge, living city and SA from GTA V as rural type of map.

Liberty City from GTA 3. While GTA 5's map looks amazing, there's something special about III-era Liberty City. Maybe because I grew up with it? Who knows.

I couldn't decide between IV Liberty City and V LS & Blaine County, but my bias towards IV warranted me to vote LC.

for me, its the beta version of gta3's map. ofc i like the final one too but beta had more areas and a lot colorful, bright textures.

San Andreas (3D Generation) was big, varied, and interesting, but the execution was pretty bad. I remember two almost identical neighborhoods in Las Venturas (Prickle Pine and Rockshore West), and at least two identical farms out in the foresty countryside (one of them was Leafy Hollow), then San Fierro was incredibly samey outside of a few areas (and the shopfronts, which were great.)

I voted for Liberty City (3D), and San Andreas (HD). Liberty City has this wonderful dark feeling to it, kind of like how New York is portrayed in movies between the 50s and 80s. When I stepped out of the airport (LeGuardia) on my first visit to New York it was cold and grey, and it felt just like I imagined Portland would have.

San Andreas' city isn't all that great, but it feels like what Los Angeles looks like nowadays. You can almost feel the hot, electrified air when you walk through East LS in the afternoon, for example. Blaine County's also great, you can drive through most of the countryside without getting bored of the scenery, and Mt. Chilliad is just beautiful.

San Andreas hands down. 3 different cities with different things to do in each one. 3 different countrysides with different things to do. San Andreas still feels like it has more crime then any other GTA game made. Los Santos (3D) felt more dangerous with crime on the street like Ballas and Grove Street going at it. Random street crimes like stealing cars or even your cars, police chases, drug dealing, drug use, drive bys.

V's map might of looked more real but it didn't feel like it. Hardly no crime on the street besides for police drive bys. No gang wars, and none of that sh*t you seen in SA. Then you got a unbalance map. A decent size city with a huge wasteland of a countryside with half of it being useless mountains and only 4 towns with 1 town that's the only one worth seeing and that is Sandy shores. Sure SA towns worth really worth going out but the cities do.

Hard to choose, they're all kind of good for what they are. I would say V but all it does to me is look good, it doesn't have a scary side or isolated feel.

Liberty City (IV) I still find it breathtaking when going across the Algonquin bridge or flying past the statue of happiness. III LC Would be a close 2nd the atmosphere is just Perfect.

Vice city is a good city but i have never been a huge fan.

los santos and Blaine county are both Great but it just lacks something it may grow on me with time.

the State of San Andreas was very impressive back in 2004 but now not so much the whole state feels a bit stale.

San Andreas. It's the most varied map and you can't go wrong with three cities, a desert, a huge mountain, Area 51 and Vegas baby!

It's hard to choose between San Andreas and IV, though i would give SA the heads up if i had to make a decision, it would look much better in HD like LC in IV did. That one wasn't bad either with its version of New York being so lively except star junction was empty which didn't fit with the rest of the map.

Liberty City in GTA III/LCS is still the best city overall for me. It is the smallest, but a great attention with the layout, the roads and the foggy atmosphere make it feels bigger. The HD liberty is technically great, but to me it lacks that gritty and dark feeling of constant danger...I'm not talking just about the atmosphere, but the constant presence (in the III-era) of landmarks like the leone mansion or kenji casino, that make you feel surrounded by powerful criminals. GTA IV has a lot of real landmarks, but it lacks some personality, some unique place.

Now I like NYC more than LA but GTA 5 has the best map even if it does have less interiors. Maybe R* will make more interiors in the future that you can go in and hold off cops but you never know.

If Liberty City was bigger (Algonquin being at least 4 times it's size along with the other boroughs being 5 times their sizes), with Alderny being at least 9 times bigger with a countryside, and an Atlantic City parody city to the far south then I'd easily say Liberty City is the better map. But Liberty City lacks what San Andreas doesn't so San Andreas is better.

3d for me is vice city. I knew we every street and never had to look to where I was going. Knew all the short cuts and back alleys and loved orange sky.

For hd it has to be grand theft auto v. The city feels fantastic and I love the country side to go hunting and just tear sh*t up or break on to the base and jack a jet

I like San Andreas' map better, the variety of cities and terrain gives it the advantage over V, though I do like Liberty City (IV) better as a city.

Bumping this thread for good reasons. I don't think we have a thread like this one yet.

I still think GTA SA map is the best. It is the best and the most fun one to date IMO.
