Do you prefer confrontation or cooperation?

There are a lot of threads written by "friendly" players about the lack of other friendlies. I'm curious about the actual preferred play style percentages.

So, if you could have it any way, would you prefer to cooperate with other players doing random things together, having laughs, and meeting group challenges OR do you prefer a confrontational style, engaging in gun battles, going for the kill, and wreaking havoc?

Depends really. If I'm just going past a random player I won't do anything. If I'm going past a random player who is being chased by the cops or other players then I might decide to help them.

Most of the time though i'm hanging out with my friend so anyone who tries to come near us will die simply due to paranoia.

co-op

i hate it when doing missions with a friend and the vote screen only gives races deathmatch or last team standing even after refreshing 2 times. forces you to go to freemode and find a new co-op mission wasting loads of time

I prefer co-op but it's hard for two reasons:
First, due to the hostile nature of this game, anybody who wouldn't be aggressive often assumes that I am aggressive and pre-emptively attacks me.
Second, listening to most people who talk on the microphone makes me hate them.

I just have my Carbine rifle out when a player approaches just in case. If I'm INA police chase or something I shoot on sight because I'm likely to die anyway. If someone kills me for no reason, I often move on but put a 10k bounty on them and send mercenaries after them.

When I'm alone, co-op. When my friends are over watching me play, well, hide your vehicles son.

Co-op. But I really don't mind if people go mental and cause chaos in free roam. That can be fun too.

Plus you can't really trust anyone in GTA Online, so even if both parties would prefer to co-operate, one false move and a couple of itchy trigger fingers can doom that.

Both of them, depends on the time, my mood, etc.

Sometimes I like to troll high level players, sometimes I help low level players to survive...

I wonder...

If you had 16 players in a lobby who all prefer co-op, they would obviously all play cooperatively.

But if you have 15 cooperative players and 1 "chaos" player (as said above), do many of the cooperative players start getting trigger happy because of the possibility that all the others are confrontational?

I suspect the vast, vast majority prefer cooperation but lack the resolve to play cooperatively in the face of a conflict-prone minority. Thus making it seem like each of us is the only cooperative player in a world full of maniacs.

Maybe there is 1 maniac on each map and the rest of us are just afraid.

its all in the layout. if u hav 16 players in the city it's gonna be a deathmatch 1 way or another. spread it out more give players there own territory / land it will change from all out dm in the city

Co-op against confrontation.

As long as it's even. 2v1 is not fun for either side.

I mean i dont want to ride with you to mt chilidad and take selfies with you.

Im not a total douche and i leave people alone if theyre not doing anything but if I see a war going on, I'm all in.

Co-op.

I admit in the first days of GTAO I shot first and asked questions later because the first day I came out of LSC after selling a car and got knifed. After that I just assumed everyone was out to get me. A lot are, but 2/3 times I can pass by someone without them trying to kill me, but when they do I have a gift basket of sticky bombs ready for them.

Co-op is simply more fun for me. It's what makes survival so much fun, when you're getting shot and one of your teammates covers you while you get a snack or reload. But then again I've grown out of the need to mindlessly kill other players for pleasure.

I prefer to be cooperative but it can quickly change if someone starts messing with my bikes. I like to give people a chance but I get real tied of getting killed because I'm simply there.

I mainly prefer to play in Invite Only matches but when I play on public servers I prefer cooperation. I won't hesitate to kill someone over and over again though if they kill me though.

Love that lego set you have as your pic - one of the best.

Co-op - but its hard as I don't have a headset. I play in the night so would wake up kids if I did.

Cant do much when you cant communicate.

The one thing that gets you killed quick seams to be riding a bike (not motorbike)

Everyone opens fire on you then. lol

I find a mixture of the two each time I play which tends to be fun. I like when there are a few players causing havok and having fun while some of us are making money and are either in the path they're taking or vice versa.

Recently I was finishing a gang shootout near the garage where Simeon takes cars he texts you about. The shootout it on a ship. I took to higher ground to funnel enemies and gain tactical advantage and a player below joined in to mop up.

The shootout ended, we collected the loot and he went on his way. I hid on the boat so I could enjoy a piece of garlic toast and noticed another player delivering a green-marked car for Simeon. When he didn't come close I assumed he thought I was camping. I sent the player a text after checking his ID on the pause map and told him I had no ill intent. He delivered the car and teamed up with me to take on some missions.

I like when I meet new people. Good or bad, it's (almost) like real life.

I prefer to Co-op, but if someone makes an arse of themselves, then things get a little heated up.

co-op but with non AI competition.

If rockstar did it right they would have 3 types of servers. (plus auto and free aim for each type.

co-op only no friendly fire on any other players in the session.

pvp (basically as it is now)

and imo an amazing mode would be team servers. basically the server is split into 2 gangs. call em blue and red or whatever and everyone on the blue team has no friendly fire on other blue team members. basically it would be a pvp server that forces at least some people to team up together. to be even more fun they could have points on the map to hold and maybe if you team holds them you get RP for holding the points.

basically an open world tdm.
