You imply that planes don't make sense. This does not make sense.

That said, being "massive" is not the only goal. GTA V's map is big but it's also very detailed and well designed. Too much space for the sake of space and it'd get to the point of being like Just Cause 2.

I see what you are saying, but there isnt a use for the space the way it is now either. Now it is like having a big yard that you dont use. No reason, need, or desire to explore. If it was bigger just the exploration wouldve been fun. Hunting, offroading, getting as lost as a video game will let you.

I agree the map should have been bigger with more trees. I understand Assassins Creed loads, but they have a sh*tload of trees.

No way would you want to play in a map that size, ESPECIALLY with that much open space. Could you imagine trying to drive around on that thing? Or doing missions that make you drive places? You would have this huge map taking up 95% of the harddrive and memory, but you'll be confined to the tiny corner in the city because everything else is just too far to drive too.

Sure, it might be cool ONCE driving 2 hours to check out the map, but then what? You would never go back, just a complete waste of memory and data. GTA V's map is perfect. The drives are long enough to feel like your driving through regions, yet not long enough that you get bored. And as someone else mentioned, it's extremely details and actually enjoyable to drive around. A map that size would take 15 years to detail every square inch like GTA V's map.

Dude, Thats a horrible map. Its soooooo huge to the limit that its not even fun. It takes off a lot from the "Los Santos" setting.

Im not a developer by any means, but you really think it would take that much time and memory to develop wilderness. Im sure they could copy and paste some forest and desert areas. Also, dont they get around loading screens by letting the player trigger interiors and things? So when you are on the way to the wilderness, it knows and starts to load the area?

Too me I wouldve liked it more with more wilderness.

And I know this is just some random person making a random map, but it isnt THAT HUGE. It isnt sooooo huge.

It would be about three times the wilderness there is now, maybe a little more. Also, its wilderness, not the city, so it would need less detail and be there more for the atmosphere.

Maybe one day we will get a GTA like this. http://i.imgur.com/xllaf.jpg

Added image as link to avoid page stretching.

Only if they kept the detailing up to par with GTA V. But I can dream... maybe it'll come true with GTA 10 on the Playstation 8.

How about this map? I wondered what V would look like if San Fierro was added, and this is what I came up with,

That looks pretty cool, but I don't think it would fit with GTA V. Maybe in a later game where we actually need a second city to travel to, but for now we should have smaller towns or small cities and not big ones like SF or LV. Each game is a unique vision for what they want to create and this game was supposed to focus about Los Santos. Even if they padded it out, adding another big city would be unnecessary.

I think this forum has learned its lesson with wanting a big map.

I'd rather have a smaller map with more detail and towns rather than empty space.

Not sure what you're talking about. As long as they design the game around the concept, I would love to have the entire state of San Andreas again.
