GTA III is a much better game than GTA V

Lethal Vaccine

Don't confuse Medals/Percents in TBoGT and V with Chinatown Wars System of Medals.

Getting a Bronze is all you need for the task to count for 100%, but sometimes on certain Side Missions when you get a Gold, it gives you something special.

Like if you complete 5 Waves with 100% Save Rate for Paramedics, you get Health Regen. If you get 5 Waves with 100% Kill Accuracy on Vigilante, you get to carry DOUBLE Armor. These types of Rewards I can live with. But in TBoGT and V, you get jacksh*t besides a Trophy and those are 100% useless. Stupid features in TBoGT and V and also my 2 least favorite GTA's...

How is that not worse though? I guess a percentage\medal system is OK for side missions (since they are usually simple missions that don't entail that much freedom anyway) but it sucks even more if players are rewarded with something for completing a main mission a certain way. I am assuming the rewards you're describing are only given for side missions and that's OK.

Lethal Vaccine

Yes, just for Side Missions. Including Rampages, Street Races, and Time Trials, as well. Total of 83 Medals in Chinatown Wars, but most of the Gold ones are useful and give rewards. TBoGT and V don't give you dick and have a sh*tty system, imo.

V lacks III's atmosphere. Dark, gritty Liberty City. Even IV could not catch up with this masterpiece.

Well, San Andreas was never supposed to the dark, gritty and mysterious city. It was more of NYC style. GTA IV was set in a more modern day and wasn't undeveloped in a way. IV follows a separate universe and doesn't have to be like III. I personally feel that every era has it's own way of charming users. GTA IV had the American Dream in detail, while GTA III meant more of left for dead, power hungry and organised crime based storyline.

I think IV might just be the new and improved III. I'll have to get a better feel of the game on my upcoming 100% playthrough.

The leap from SA to IV is similar to the leap from II to III, and IV features another more realistic rendition of LC. The gritty atmosphere is back, perhaps in a completely different form, but it is still a uniquely immersive one. IV had an initial effect on me similar to that of III back when I first played it. I think that this could be a recurring thing. Every time GTA gets released exclusively on a new generation of consoles, something really innovative happens or at least a big improvement of some sort. I can't wait to see what the next game will bring since it will be a PS4\Xbox One exclusive. I hope they use all of the consoles' resources to make the most amazing open world game to date.

Edit: I think that the most logical step towards perfecting the game is more realism mainly in terms of gameplay mechanics and story. I think the more realistic a game is the more immersive it is. I'll probably lose interest in this series if someone else comes up with what I'm hoping GTA will eventually become.

I don`t like V`s linearity in missions like how straying even a quarter of an inch from the script will cause the "Mission Failed" screen. III gave us a lot more freedom in how to pass a mission. If you kept trying and failing, you could try another way to pass a mission in V, like setting a roadblock for your opponents and exploding them etc. while you can only do each mission one particular way in V. Having the "mission skip" option doesn`t compare to having the freedom to be inventive and find the easiest way for you to pass a mission.

In all honesty, I can`t say that V is WORSE than III, but is isn`t much better which is huuuugely disappointing.

If you compare them on the basis of when both were new GTA III destroys GTA V IMO.

Of course technically GTA V is a better game, but despite GTA III's relative simplicity compared to newer titles it still offers a decent amount of freedom even compared to GTA V.

Lethal Vaccine

They were all like that, you know, complete freedom, right up until GTA IV was released and they made the change to RAGE/Euphoria and wanted the worlds more realistic. Ever since GTA IV and onwards it's got worse and worse. LUCKILY, IV, TLaD, TBoGT, and CTW don't suffer TOO much. It really suffers in V, though. One way or the highway (Mission Failed). It's f*cking stupid...

Like MVC said, for 2001, GTA III is HUGE. For 2013, GTA V isn't huge at all....

You crazy or something? GTA III is literally bullsh*t compared GTA V. GTA V is better in everyway.

If GTA III were to be remade in HD Era with Rage engine, it'll surely be better than GTA V. It's not about the feature but the simplicity of the title, storyline, setting, vehicles and everything else that makes the game a huge success. In 2001, a game like GTA III was a dream, something of huge significance.

No it won't. It will just have better graphics, toned up AI, and the rest will be the same. I understand that it was great in 2001, but to say it's a way better game than GTA V is retarded.

Lethal Vaccine

....But is is.

2001 - MASSIVE changes. Going from 2D to 3D....And many more.

2013 - Same old, same old..."bigger" world and 3 Characters instead of 1. Not much changed. If anything, IV was the bigger revolutionary change than V. IV went from 3D to HD for the first time on RAGE/Euphoria.

GTA V sucks for the year 2013. Nothing is different. San Andreas (2004) ripped the sh*t out of V, for instance. Everything V does, SA does better. Even VC did the Business' better in 2002 than these lazy designed business' are in 2013 in V. You can't enter them. There is NO interaction in them, unlike in VC where there is...

Lets face it, V is a disgrace if you agree or not...

I give you a 7/10 for trolling.

GTA 3 Is way more than a classic than GTA V will ever be. GTA III is in our hearts. GTA III wins yay.

III is my favorite, but V is in my top ten games. I rate V over all the other games save for III.

GTA V wasn't my favorite, I was sad that I missed all the DLC packs, except for the christmas DLC. GTA V is a good game afterall, but it would be nice to have an old classical character. I liked the characters in GTA 3, and I missed them a little.

yeah i agre with u gta 3 is much bettr than gta v

gta 3 hhad nothing wron with it and i <3d it bcause of the nostalgia

gta v is jusgt boring, the only ting it introducces was uhh... ummm... yoga lololololloololllllolo

But seriously, GTA V is better. GTA 3 is a good game, but better than GTA V? No.

2001 =/= 2013

For 2001, GTA III was monumental. For 2013, GTA V is nothing. GTA III and GTA IV were much more monumental in terms of major changes than V ever will be. Keep dreaming all you want, though! :D
