universetwisters
The best thing GTA 3 has over GTA 5 is that you don't need multiplayer to make a good game. Granted the game came out before companies started caring about money and DLCs, but still, great game and a timeless classic, possibly even up there with Mario & Tetris. HeroBrineR007
GTA III really feels like (i believe it is in 2013 right?) The music fits perfectly and the city just looks really modern. Only thing i didn't like was: ● Car handling. One quick press on the button for little corrections and i am already 3 metres to the left or right. ● Car health ● The car lights look like in rainy weather, even though it's not raining Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/645812-gta-iii-is-a-much-better-game-than-gta-v/page/2/#findComment-1066287018 Share on other sites

ed85
with the plot gta 3 is better than gta v but not the graphics and gameplay. the dlc has yet to be released for gta v and rumour has it the dlc will feature c.j. from san andreas but i doubt that will improve an already stupid game involving a stupid theme. what the **** is a gta game doing with a civilised family with some retired family man as one of the main characters? i would like to see claude return for the dlc but that still probably won't happen. ed85
GTA VC > GTA SA > GTA III > GTA VCS > GTA LCS > GTA II > GTA I > GTA IV > (10000 games later) GTA V i wonder if there will be a gta 6 (i don't know the roman numeral sorry). gta vice city was only released about a year after gta 3. there is still the dlc for gta v it could feature claude but people would be talking about that by now. in saying that you forgot lost and the damned and the ballad of gay tony for gta iv - of which both i haven't played either. i stopped playing at vice city stories i didn't complete that either. Kafonix
Honestly, I think III was a really bad game. Of course, it was a f*cking huge step forward from GTA II, a real story and stuff that lasts until today in the series. But, on the downside, there is practically nothing to do in the game besides doing missions. The map felt dull and grey to me (don't get me wrong, I love IV!) and the city felt like a dead city. The characters weren't memorable and Claude was a non-talking character without a - well, character. I don't want to insult you or III as a game, but I just want to know why you love the game so much besides of Nostalgia. FYI, I think V was the worst game since the 3D era. Lethal Vaccine
III might be loved for a nastalgia reason, however for me in particular, I am a vehicle collector, seen in my Profile and also in my member title. There is some nice collectables for my collections in III and going on police chases in indestructible vehicles is really fun. I just love the atmosphere of the city and the gang warfare is incredible and neat how tough they are and how much they hate Claude, etc. III is actually ranked very high on my list of GTA games, along with LCS. Robinism
As I've said before in this thread, GTA III is my favorite game in the series (I've played them all except for Liberty and Vice City Stories, but I'm working on that) and here below are some reasons why I like III so much. I like the idea of a mute protagonist. In my opinion, it makes it easier for me as a player to relate to the character. Tommy Vercetti (for example) talked way too much, and had a very macho personality. When the protagonists has too much of a personality, you really have to like that personality in order to be able to relate to him. A mute protagonist can sometimes be strange in terms of storytelling (a character who doesn't respond while being spoken to may look pretty weird) but I still prefer it that way. The GTA III version of Liberty City is my favorite of all GTA cities. I like the dark, depressing feel of the town, and I think that it's just the right size, not too big (like GTA: SA) or too small. There's always something new to discover. The character lineup of GTA III is great, and they sure are memorable (I mean, Catalina? Asuka? Kenji? Donald Love? El Burro? The list goes on.) There's a perfect amount of missions, and the storyline gameplay feels very dynamic. The gang wars is another part of GTA III that's great. It's a pure rush at the end of the game when there are many parts of the map you simply cannot enter by foot without being blown to pieces (although it's sad that you practically can't explore Portland anymore). Of course, GTA III has it's flaws like any other game. But overall, I think it's the best one in the series yet. Harerama Chakraborty
^^^^ When Portland becomes no longer explorable (because of the gangs trying to kill Claude) I just take a BP vehicle and watch the gangs fail to explode the car and kill Claude! Well, I've really loved the city's dark atmosphere, you might not like it, but I feel it is a "unique" one. Also, the missions were awesome and really challenging. Also, Claude is the LAST mute Protagonist in the series, and I believe he could talk, but didn't. Also, it's true that there is no stuff after getting 100%, but what I do is..... just cruise around the map..... killing gang members...... getting wanted levels.... Lethal Vaccine
^^^^ When Portland becomes no longer explorable (because of the gangs trying to kill Claude) I just take a BP vehicle and watch the gangs fail to explode the car and kill Claude! BP Patriot is useless compared to the AP Cheetah, AP Bobcat, and AP/EC Stretch. Also, using the Crusher Glitch, you can make the BP Patriot become BP/DP. Then it's a lot better. I mostly prefer the BP Barracks OL (Converted into BP/DP with the Crusher Glitch) because this vehicle, due to it's mass, makes vehicles go flying when you run into them...A lot of fun in GTA III... I usually use an AP vehicle traveling through Portland while on a 5 star wanted level. The Mafia usually blow up the cop cars for me when driving through Saint Marks. It's awesome. I say 5 star and not 6 because 6 stars is less fun because even if the vehicle is AP, if a Tank hits you, you explode. Same goes for VC, LCS, and VCS. SA is the only GTA game where you can run into a Tank and not get blown up immediately. AP vehicles in SA are amazing... This, universe/nippletwisters genius You are completely right, GTA III was one of does defining (alongside over 1000 of games) that you can play as much as you want, and have as much unlimited fun you want without MP. I hate these modern gamers saying ''After completing the main story, the games gets boring and there is nothing to do! Multiplayer is the best!'' now that's stupid. Fun fact, GTA III had 51 main missions, and it was still fun to play after completing the storyline. GTA V has 69 missions and gets criticized for being boring after the main story. GTA V has 69 missions and gets criticized for being boring after the main story. No....It doesn't. It has 73 missions. Just hit pause! It says it right in the pause menu. Once story is finished it'll say 73 out of 73 missions complete. That's only the story as well. There is pay phone missions, Toyz Vans missions, Rampages, Stunt Jumps, 100 Hidden Packages, R3 Missions, etc, etc... GTA III is one of, if not THE hardest GTA's in the series to for going for 100%. The decisions you make impact getting 100% or not. Like doing Paramedics Level 12. You won't stand a chance doing this for 100%, if you don't do it in the beginning of the game in Portland before the Triads and Leone Mafia hate you. Or if you kill Kenji before finishing all of her missions, etc, you won't get 100%, either. GTA III is all about planning your way to 100% and offers the most freedom, way beyond that of any HD Era GTA Game. This is why people complain over HD Era GTA games. They are scripted and the freedom is completely gone... When it comes to GTA III, you're supposed to have a "starter save" which means EVERYTHING is complete BEFORE the 1st or 2nd mission in the game. It's easy to get to Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale early with many ways of doing it to do Hidden Packages, Stunt Jumps, Rampages, and also R3 Missions. For Fire Truck and Vigilante, you need to put 20 fires out PER island and 20 vigilante kills PER island. I do ALL of the above right after the mission "Luigi's Girls." Its the same thing, I am talking about main missions here. I am not trying to say that III had less missions and its a bad thing. Dude, i also played gta 3 since it's release but this is nonsense. What you have is nostalgia. Sure, the game was fantastic back in the day, but times change.
