Nope, it was stock one you could select in a Race when racing in Super class.

You have to take into account the boost you get from slipstreaming and going down hill or the point in which you youre at the bottom of a ramp about to hit a big jump. You get the biggest boost from those as far as top speed go.

Nope, it was stock one you could select in a Race when racing in Super class.

 

Oh ok, thanks.. didn't realize it accounted for speeds attained in races (what with slipstreaming and catchup), although I guess that would make sense.

 

For the record mine is 144 and change with the Entity. Although now that I know this stat exists I'm going to have to drive with it in mind.

When I first saw this, I didn't know what type of vehicle it was. So I checked... And it's this beauty of a station wagon

 

 

But when had I ever been in one of these I wondered? And how come that's the fastest car I've ever driven online? I just got a hard earned Entity XF after all...

 

Well, after I while I figured it out Because that was the car I drove into the back of a cargo plane, while my friend took it to the skies I guess jamming the accelerator to the floor to keep it inside, while he's going full speed with the plane counts towards the top speed? That, or the free fall to the ground afterwards?

I'm POSITIVE my coquette is way faster than the Elegy cause I only have rank 1 engine on it and I have full turbo and rank 4 on the Coquette however it's listing the Elegy as my fastest vehicle traveled in. I really doubt it. Plus my bike is faster than the elegy. I'm guessing these stats must not count when playing missions/races or something.

I've driven my fully upgraded Adder for miles at top speed, it's definitely faster than 151mph.

Yeah I always assumed that the top speeds were gimped for online since there is a lot of rendering etc that has to go on which would mess with stability. I would imagine cars are a lot closer to their top speed in 1 player.

147.67 in an Elegy RH8. I have an Entity as well - should be able to get fractionally higher in that. I kinda assumed that stat was only from free roam. If it's in races too, then you just need to set up some downhill/slipstream/GTA speed boost combo in an Adder, surely.

 

Offline: 218.57 in an Infernus. On Franklin of course, since just using his special ability while driving in a straight line magically makes you go like 50% faster (try it right before a stunt jump!).

The first thing I noticed when I got into a car on september 17th was no gauges. It became clear a couple miles down the road in that car that speed is not a constant measurable property in the physics of v. The game just uses visual and audible effects to make it seem like you're going fast but in reality you're not. The game only allows you to travel as fast as it feels like rendering the environment around you. Ever notice how your supercar at near top speed just barely passes the npc traffic on the highway? Get on the highway and throttle just enough to get into 3rd gear and you'll have the same result, rockstar wasn't lying when they said they squeezed as much as they can out of these machines. Hopefully next gen will have enough power to allow us to shoot from our cars at true 200mph, but I'm content with this hybrid of racer/shooter for now.
