In a Vehicle?

 

Social Club -> Online Character -> Stats Tab -> Vehicles: highest speed in a road vehicle

 

I'll start off:

161.49 mph in Bati 801RR

I think my fastest speed was achieved one tenth of a second before I landed face first at the bottom of that tower that is constructing in the middle of the town - the one with the briefcase mission. There was something about my parachute that I never understood It looked damn fast from where I was standing

154 in a Akuma. I generally don't try to hit top speed since it doesn't take much for me to travel faster then the old xbox can render the game.

These are despite all attempts to beat it in a Banshee.
I don't think that it's necessarily bugged--I think you might accidentally pick up a high speed without realizing it going down one of the long downhill stretches.

I don't think that it's necessarily bugged--I think you might accidentally pick up a high speed without realizing it going down one of the long downhill stretches.

 

Yeah I'd imagine its something of a fluke, like slipstreaming downhill or something, but still

But still, if anything is wrong, I think it's the "stats" given on the website saying these things go 200+ miles per hour. It might not even be a bug or anything that it says that--it could be advertising. Car dealers will fudge things to an extent, and I would be surprised if Rockstar didn't play on that.

 

In the end, though, speed could be tested by setting a waypoint a set distance away and timing it. Start a bit further back from where you start measuring and timing so you get up to full speed, then hit the timer once you hit maybe 1 mile left to the location and do the math. If anybody is interested, they should do this.

Is everyone fastest speed traveling on a road? I imagine if you can somehow go down a hill while staying on the ground the top speed will be greater

I did (see link in signature) they all average under 115 mph. The top speeds aren't true.

Even if you did the waypoint thing, it'll be wrong. The distance in this game is why the speeds are screwed up. A mile is really about a mile and a half or 2 in game. But i too hit 155 in a Bati when im sure i went faster in the entity.

I assume this stat is free roam only not racing so traffic and road turns would limit it?

I base that assumption on the fact I've driven super cars in races but my top speed is 133 in my sports car.
