Everytime i hop into a public lobby its horrid. the amount of people spawn camping and sticky bomb exploding vehicles is absurd.

i will say its funny seeing how creative some groups are. i found one lobby that had the central LSC on lock down. The LSC door was blocked so once you pulled into the alley in front of LSC you were f*ckd. they even had vehicles blocking the exits. one guy would even follow uou in to block the only way out. at least these guys were creative, most just spawn camp your body. its f*cking retarded how close you spawn next to others.

/end rant back to playing in private sessions with a few friends.

I usually get chill people in public sessions. Been killed before but never spawn camped and had randoms rob banks, do gang wars and all that together who didnt even have mics

Me. Never sat foot in public sessions and hope I`ll never have to. Not until all the assholes are gone, anyway.

On and off. If I'm really just wanting to do my own thing, then yeah, I'll play alone or with a few friends, but I'll also sometimes jump into some public lobbies to hunt some bounties or just screw around.

I usually start in a private to sell a car and maybe modify one of mine or do whatever i want. When im done i join my friends public sessions if any are playing or i just do quick races from my private. No reason to be in a public when you just go in and out of quick races trying to find one who doesn't farm the short tracks with 1 lap and few players. Finding one with the right car classes can take ages too.

I never have any problems with public sessions. It doesn't take long to see if the room is full of idiots, if it is then I'll just find a new session and usually I'm OK.

Made quite a few "friends" in free mode, who I've added and see in the sessions regularly now.

Ha that'll be why I've never met my crew-mates then! Although to be fair I have only really played in invite only sessions too at the moment. Had loads of troubles with chars being deleted & levels not saving & money disappearing (and sometimes appearing from nowhere!).

Seems to be saving my progress now, so hopefully I'll be online a bit more (when the missus & the cats will allow it)

After seeing what public lobbies were like after the first week i switched to invite only sessions with friends/people i know. I'll never go back to playing with the great unwashed.

Nope, I'd say in all the public sessions i've been in, less than half have been full of idiots. Guess I've been lucky.

Private sessions whenever I'm trying to do something, public sessions whenever I feel like fighting other people.

I will typically join invite only sessions if I'm only looking to launch into random races and missions. When I'm in the mood for free roam pvp (or just the threat of it) I'll join a public lobby.

Wow..........

Just... wow.

To hear that someone has never been in a public session is mind-boggling... actually... it is astonishing. I have so many different ways to express how mind-blowing this but can't all at once.

All I can say is that you must be one skiddish person.

Wow.... just....... WOW.

Reading this thread is unbelievable!

I play in public sessions always!!! I tried an invite session once and thought it was way too kiddie.

I just... how can you think you are experiencing the true online nature of this game if you never go public?

I am at a loss here. Is anyone else baffled by this thread or is it just me? I am truly stunned.

Occasionally go in public sessions but spend most of my time in Crew only or Friend only sessions.

If Passive mode worked better then I would spend more time in public sessions...plus the constant grate of poor quality mics gets on my nerves after a while.

Public lobbies can be fun but I tend to get lobbies that the dirty peace loving hippies here dream about. Very little killing, players come over to ride in your car for some reason. It's very civilized and very boring.

I see complaints about snipers on roofs, and people staking out lsc, tank/jet/buzzard rampages, clever use of stickies and I can't help but feel jealous.

I mean... I get it to just go look for cars or something... or to get people to fly a Titan with you. Like with 10 people in it. Or just... do something really coordinated. Like get a whole crew up in the air and parachute at the same time.

I am not harassing people for using private mode.

I am just stunned by people doing it more often than public. Seems strange. The beating heart of GTA is in public sessions, I believe.

I was actually able to befriend 10 people in one public session so we could all do the Titan achievement.

I mean... you all talk hard all the time. Seems wussy.

90% of the time, its invite only lobbies with my crew and friends. Occasionally I'll drop into Public and go kill a couple of bounties, but thats the extent of it.

My astonishment comes from the fact that this forum is filled with flamethrowing venomous poisonous bad mouthing hardcore acting hotheads... and now everyone is saying they hide in private sessions?

It is just baffling. If you are all skiddish children hiding in private sessions all the time, afraid of being killed by someone you don't know (oh no!), maybe you should stop acting so tough in the forums.

Man.

right... ya man you got it all figured out. not wanting to play with loud mouth spawn camping kiddos makes us less manly. i get it now, its all so clear.

I stay in private server if I'm trying to actually get stuff done like making money selling cars (it's reassuring to know there will be no one camping outside LSC in a private server). So I'd say I spend most of what little time I play anymore in a private server. But there's no denying that if you never leave private servers you are missing out on a lot of fun and craziness you can only experience on public servers. I go for the happy medium.

I play in Solo all the time just to immerse myself into San Andreas. The only reason I go into public sessions is to get the 500 pistol kills. Sad that THAT is the only reason I have to play alongside with others. While sh*t gets crazy in public lobbies, the way others play is just too "unrealistic" for my tastes and ruining my immersion.

I usually like to use just one weapon, and go to the trunk of my car if I switch weapons. I wish the game was like that, instead everyone is carrying an arsenal on them. I hate when I'm using only a pistol, and all these other idiots are using everything they have.

It's too much of a cartoon in public lobbies, reminds me of roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote. With everyone having ACME weapons. Its kind of ridiculous.

I've said this a billion times, Solo Sessions and friends only are practically Single Player experiences. So its not that hard to believe people are opting to go this route. I naturally hate other people anyways. Anyways, on Solo the game turns into Skyrim/Fallout. It turns into GTA V.

I think the problem is there isn't a clear separation between people who like to attack other players and those that don't.

For example, most mmo's provide a PVE or PVP environment. Many PVPers say that their playstyle is better because it introduces an extra element of risk and therefore is more exciting. I can fully understand that...the problem is some people don't know when to quit or know when they've won and just grief people and harass them constantly.

These are a minority but all the same its very tiresome if you're on the receiving end. For me, Passive mode doesn't go far enough so its preferable not to spend much time in pubic sessions so I can avoid the griefers.

This is me exactly - also you get more job invites in public sessions, which is the only other reason I go there. But I never expect a peaceful or friendly time.
