PsuPepperoni
One of the pieces of radioactive waste was in a massive trench just west of Paleto bay. Have you found more/deeper trenches like that?
Gnocchi Flip Flops
I flew a plane out to the ocean and when it's engines died, I nose dived... Nothing is down there. It just gets dark and then you plop back on land after a short freeze. -_- I guess anything deeper than 600 ft does this too.
x0v3rKiLx
I bought the SC dock and got the submarine and have explored a great deal of the underwater territory. There are trenches and alcoves that reach 400ft below the surface. There are even a few that extend beyond maximum safe depth for the submarine, which is around 480ft. The submarine's crush depth (depth at which your submarine implodes due to an overload of water pressure) is around 550 ft. It's silly because the water pressure at that depth is only 242 psi. That's nothing compared to what most submarines and even submersibles today can withstand. Back on topic anyway... TL;DR version: There is DESIGNED sea terrain well beyond the maximum safe depth for submarines, terrain that thus, cannot be fully explored. ILS_Supernova
What do you get if anything after getting all the sub parts after buying the dock? Id love to see a DLC sub but a nice big sub!
5.7
You get nothing for the submarine parts once collected. It just adds towards 100% completion. I heard you could get some dodge sticker car that's a bucket of sh*t but it never showed for me. I collected all the waste and now I get no income at the docks. I thought it would of stayed at high price each payment as I collected all of the waste but nope, just 0.00 each time for me now. I still got the submarine, dingy & other speed boat for free out of all it so I'm happy for that. Just the submarine is annoying to drive when in swallow and rocky areas! marco-polo
So really, finding all the parts and waste is not worth the time in the end?
icebreaker202
I wish there was a cheat or something to turn off ocean water so that we can drive around in there. RememberToTaper

Id love to see a DLC sub but a nice big sub! Oooh yes. Submarine DLC. Maybe a Los Angeles-class attack submarine parked by Fort Zancudo, or the addition of a small naval base even around the LS coast. Maybe that could lead to an arms smuggling game for Trevor, where you use the submarine to hunt and sink rival arms shipments being transported into the Port of Los Santos. That would be so sick to do U-Boat style ship hunting! The one problem is a ship that big takes more than one person to operate haha you need a diving officer, chief of the watch, ballast control officer, etc. Edited November 7, 2013 by x0v3rKiLx

Actually, the sub parts do NOT count towards 100% completion. I'm at 100% now, and I haven't collected a single part. I just bought the dock so I could use the submarine at my leisure. As for taking the submarine out and avoiding the shallow waters and obstacles, make sure you hold X (if you're using an XBox controller). This will void/empty the subs' ballast tanks and dramatically increase its buoyancy. This should help you steer clear of shallow water obstacles as you set sail for deepr waters. Also, keep your left thumbstick pointed down at all times to keep your sub angled upward, which also adds to buoyancy and reduces the amount of your sub's surface area that is beneath the water line, which thus in turn helps prevent those little annoying bumps into obstacles. Alternatively, when you want to dive, hold down A. This will flood the sub's ballast tanks and increase your descent rate as compared to just pitching down while at all-ahead-full. Don't worry if you hit a few things along the way though, the submarine is incredibly durable to collision damage, especially those few little bumps you may encounter in shallow waters. It's more of an inconvenience than anything else. Edited November 7, 2013 by x0v3rKiLx RememberToTaper

x0v3rKiLx
Anything below 480 ft is explorable if you use the Invincibility cheat. Really? I didn't know the invincibility cheat cancelled out "event" style deaths like being eaten by sharks or reaching crush depth. I think it'll still destroy your submarine of course. Godmode does not protect against vehicle damage, so I'm sure the submarine will still implode, so you'll probably just have to scuba it the rest of the way (have fun with the 30 minute ascent back to sea level haha)

I agree; in fact, even submersibles about 30 years ago have allowed humans to explore the bottom of the Challenger Deep, which at roughly 35,839 feet, is the deepest ocean depth in the entire world. And at 35,839 feet, the water pressure is roughly 16,099 pounds per square inch! And in fact, that is the equivilant of roughly 1,159 tons per square foot! NeedleBanger
Who cares, the ocean sucks. I found every single ocean missing part in SP. Then on multiplayer there was some glitch where you could drive your car into the water, get out of it underwater, and then you could walk around freely for as long as you wanted underwater. There is f*ck all there except massive cliffs that kill you.
player11
Marianas Trench, located in the western pacific There is, in fact, an area on the southwest end of the Mariana Trench that reaches even deeper than the rest of the trench. It is known as the Challenger Deep, which at roughly 36,201 feet at it's deepest point, is the deepest ocean depth in the whole wide world. No other trench, depression, or any other part of the ocean goes any deeper than that. The water pressure at that depth is 16,099 pounds (or just slightly more than 8 tons) per square inch, which equates to a totally incredible 1,159 tons per square foot! Yes, and in addition, more people have been to the moon (12 I think) than to Challenger Deep (3 - two on the bathyscaphe Trieste back in the sixties and, more recently, movie director James Cameron). player11
I went down to the bottom again, this time in a Shamal jet. And with a new flat screen TV, you can still see the outline of the plane. To my complete surprise, when it hit bottom, it was only the camera that stopped moving downward. The plane continued dropping downward, shrinking rapidly with distance until it disappeared. And by the way, it took 18 minutes to get down to the "bottom" in the Shamal. I guess clearly, Rockstar did in fact make the ocean, in all physical in-game sense, bottomless. Similar to that huge cavern in the 1986 movie "The Golden Child" that Chandler Jarrell has to navigate to get the Ajanti Dagger.
