Effect of lowering suspension on vehicles

How much, if at all, does lowering suspension improve your car's performance?

 

In the real world, I know it's supposed to lower the car's center of gravity and thus make for better handling on corners, but I'm not clear how this translates to the game. It doesn't provide a stat boost, and the mod description at LS Customs is vague. To make matters worse, some other mods (such as carbon roof) imply that you will get improved performance in the description, but my understanding is that you in fact do not.

I think it only affect the car on a high speed left-right action. I think it just reduce the bounciness on a car.

I think things like the carbon roof and hood are mostly just aesthetic. Suspension does allow for better control, though.

I took a mesa, didnt want to drop it at all, but after a while of getting bounced around and it being very top heavy, i decided to drop it, and damn does it make a big difference on lifted trucks. Not sure what it does for cars other than make the suspension stiffer

For me it seems to make small turnings grip better, but the force at which you will spin on corners still seems the same.

AFAIK, it just helps to stabilize the car during turns (you notice more when zig-zagging the traffic), but doesn't improve traction. If the car spins too much, it won't going to change with the suspension upgrade.

Depending on how much you upgrade the suspension I'd say it makes a lot of difference with turning/grip/reaction, but I personally don't like the competition setup, TOO sharp for my liking!

its definately in the handling that it makes a different, lower CoG is a huge factor and thats what your modifying... it would be worth you guys commenting on the Car Speed Experiement thread and trying to get all this in one place... empircal approach to testing one car against another with adjustable variables.

I have all suspension upgrades unlocked and tested em much ( have around 900 races so far), they definitely are NOT JUST COSMETIC.

 

The car gets lowered and supension gets harder, which improves handling by making it more responsive. Also it allows higher Turn-speed. Especially on SUVs u'll see what I mean, but any car will change the way I described.

Yeah, the suspension adds a lot to the car.

 

No placebo in that area of modification.
