The dreaded disk read error | True Fix No Bull

Hello folks,

 

So I've been on the side-lines for a while now, everyone and their dog has been getting disk read error 80010514 or the infinite loading screen of death. In my case it was just a black screen on startup.

 

So after using my old "Chunky" 60GB PS3 it worked for a while but gradually got worse as the game slowly but surely wore my laser into a blind snub.

 

 

So back to my 320GB Slim, this refused to load GTA as I said before and I tried these fixes:

 

Full file restore

Data base rebuild

Internal Cleaning (using the PS3 auto fan clean)

Even a full factory settings restore.

 

Guess what?...None of them worked.

 

First of all, if you have a large 60GB PS3 then DO NOT play this game as it will ruin your laser, you have been warned.

 

THE FIX:

 

For people with this problem on a 320GB slim: If other games work on your PS3, then you need to exchange your disk until you find a working copy,

 

I can confirm this with a call to R* technical support which told me 1/10 are presumed faulty copies.

 

If other games do not work on your PS3 then your laser has been burnt out , you need a new ps3 laser.

 

 

 

So don't listen to the silly fixes online. the only true fix is to replace the disk and/or PS3.

 

 

Hope this helps for people pulling their hair out as I was last night.
