I have experienced 2 typhoons already but the worst happened 5 years ago.. That was the worst typhoon I ever experienced and still rings on my mind of that tragic day. Well I can just hope that this typhoon detours, God knows He will always be there on our side. Jornereanty and Ramyhyday

Obviously I feel bad for the OP and wish him well, but he had a super typhoon headed his way and he said God is on his side. If you're religious and believe in that sort of thing than I can see why you wouldn't find it funny. I believe in God (not much else), but I still think it was pretty funny. That aside, like I said, I hope everything worked out for him. johnny_zoo
Girish
News channels are reporting that the death toll could reach 10,000. That's huge. Any update from our members in the Philippines? Hope you guys are safe.

Girish
There have to be certain non-affected areas, right? Or is the entire Philippines blacked out due to the typhoon? That would suck.
018361
I haven't heard much besides what the death toll is supposed to be. I know someone who I think lives in the Philippines and i'm really hoping that they are alright. I wouldn't know though because I haven't heard from them in the longest time. For all I know they could have died or something since we last talked. I hope they are alright and still well however.

Hope you guys are safe. Yeah, I just read that on our news service too. One of the strongest storms ever observed. They are comparing the destruction in the city of Tacloban and other coastal towns to that of the 2004 tsunami which killed more that 200 000. It's bad. Hope our friend Extremo is safe, but it seems as though Western Visayas was not that badly hit by the storm, am I right?

El Dildo
There have to be certain non-affected areas, right? Or is the entire Philippines blacked out due to the typhoon? That would suck. well yes of course but communications are still sporadic in the early hours of fallout. this ain't your grandfather's typhoon. this storm was (it's ongoing, but since making landfall) basically the single largest storm ever recorded on planet Earth. now the planet is over 4 billion years old and we've only been keeping records for roughly 200 years but still... the thing was massive. the Philippines islands were utterly enveloped. sustained winds over 200 MPH. gusts over 250? insanity. many of the residential structures in that country are still the equivalent of shanty towns. people outside of major cities didn't stand a chance. theadmiral
I would say that I hope everyone is ok, but everyone is obviously not ok. As was mentioned earlier 10,000 are predicted dead in Tacloban City, which is about 470km from where Extremo said he was from. I hope that is enough distance to make the difference. I<3GTAV
Stay safe, man. I've only experienced one hurricane, and it was only tropical storm-force winds. The effects of Sandy last year extended all the way here to Ohio. Let's hope that the Philippines rebuild and heal quickly.

018361
I just read that another storm, this one being a tropical depression, is rolling in. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/11/zoraida-philippines_n_4255529.html It's likely not going to be anywhere near as strong as Haiyan thankfully, but it still isn't going to help the current situation either.
