I think you drop the weapon in hand when you die, I know i've lost weapons that I had temporarily (before actually unlocking the weapon by rank). Maybe with the minigun it's a little different and you drop ammo instead of the actual gun? or maybe you always lose whatever ammo is in the magazine as well as the gun (if you don't have it unlocked) and the minigun is 1 large pool of ammo? When you're holding a weapon with ammunition (basically any firearm in the game), and you die with that weapon out, you lose all of the ammo in the current magazine. Say I am holding an Assault Rifle with a full magazine. If someone kills me, I will lose all of the ammo I had in the mag, as if I'd shot it. Is it normal ? Increase the shooting skill. Michael and Trevor have better shooting skills than Franklin so that's why they can hold more ammo.
