What ever happened to just having fun?

I'm getting tired of coming to this forum and I've only been using it for a week.  When I played GTA3 I found my own way through most of the missions and asked a few friends on other forums for advice on some of the trickier ones.  I also gave a little advice when they had trouble.

 

When I come here there's nothing but questions about getting things from the END of the game.  People are asking where hidden package #25 is at, how to get the Hunter, why the businesses aren't open.  They all seemed to have gone out and gotten the Strategy Guide the same day they got the game.

 

Where's the fun in that?  What happened to "figuring things out" on your own?  What happened to just playing the game.  I didn't know that finishig the Diaz missions would get me his mansion until I killed him (Great Scene!.  I didn't know that beating that evil window smashing mission in the Mall would open up the businesses.  I didn't know that the Hyman Condo had a helicopter.  I figured all this stuff out by playing.

 

Now I came here to ask a few questions.  I was having trouble with the Messin with the Man mission and the No Escape mission and I got good advice.  I also learned when to go to the Stadium to race.  I stuck around here so I could help give a little advice myself.  When I give advice, though, I don't tell people all the cool details of what completing a mission will get them.  I merely tell them how I beat that mission and why I think that strategy worked.

 

I also HATE the cheaters going from their first $100 and stolen car straight to the Hunter.  It's definitely fun to go on the occasional rampage tearing up the town and anyone unlucky enough to cross your path.  But why do you buy a game if you don't ever intend to actually play it.  Maybe I just have a different philosophy, but the "I need this cheat code" crowd gets on my nerves.  Besides, I think that's why they have a separate forum here for them.

 

Lastly I hate the fact that little kids (under 16 or 17) are playing this game.  When I was that age I was just as big a moron as they don't think they are.  I had no business playing games like this.  This game was rated M for a really good reason.  Any parent that knowingly lets a kid, especially ones that are 12 or under, play this game should be out in jail.

 

All this is just my opinion, and I'm bored enough at the office to have time to type it.  Please feel free to bash me now...

Yea man I agree with most of the sh*t u said. I mean.. what if this forum didnt exist? Ppl would be forced to figure sh*t out for themselves... I don't agree with putting parents in jail who knowingly let their 12 yr old play this game tho.. It's their chice what to subject their children to... and if u see a retarded post on the forum, just don't read it!

I agree a lot with what you said in the beginning.  Playing the game and finding things out on your own is great.  I'm only halfway through but everything I've seen so far I have done on my own.  Nothing was spoiled for me, as I just didn't read all the posts about stuff I hadn't done yet.  Now I do know about the Hunter, and I haven't gotten it yet.  It was a bit disappointing, but oh well..I'll live.

 

There are a lot of 'kiddie-gamers' on these forums, trust me.  A lot of them have no business playing a game this mature, but I wouldn't outcast everyone under the age of 16.  That's just not fair.  Perhaps you, at that age, were not mature enough to play a game filled with such violence and adult themes, but some people are(i.e. myself ).  

 

Games are supposed to be fun, no matter who you are.

I agree i admit i use cheats but way after i beat the game 100% i mean what is the friggin point on blowin ur money not to play it or buy a guid to basicly tell u how to beat the game i dont ask for help on missions i jus do em till i figure out what to do, a game is not a game if u cheat or read a guid and already know what happens and what to do no one here wants to know the f*ckin end of the game when they r still on the second mission. That is what games r for to make u think before u act plan things out hey this mission requires blowin this place up so maybe if i pick every 1 off then move in i will have less ppl to deal with a game is not a game if u dont figure it out urself..i completly agree
