What do you think of the "Bad Sport" system? (Poll)

I know this had been asked before, but I want to hear personal opinions which I didn't find in most threads. I personally think this system is unfair and it should be removed from GTA Online completely. I've got obvious reasons for this.

I don't have any major problems but it needs some tweaking. The fact that it doesn't distinguish between acts of aggression or self-defence is a biggie, but then I don't know how that would be achieved anyway.

 

In any case, its not hard to avoid blowing peoples things up.

It needs a big rethink. There’s an okay idea behind it, but in practice it doesn’t work very well.

 

- Separating players based on how aggressive they are makes sense. That way some people can play Barbie Dreamhouse Ultimate Car Dress-Up and others can play MURDER DEATH KILL MURDERATHON.

- Attacking other players isn’t inherently ‘unsporting’ (it definitely isn’t if the other players are spoiling for a fight) and in many ways I think separating players based on how they want to play works better than a punishment system. Additionally fragile alliances which could crumble at any time are interesting, and they’re only possible if random sudden attacks are permitted.

- However free-roam offers little incentive to co-operate in the first place. Teaming up with another player usually just means splitting the profits from something you could’ve quite easily done yourself. Larger free-roam activities would encourage players to work together with strangers rather than just randomly attacking each other.
- It seems odd to make vehicle destruction and abandoning sessions the only things which each bad sport points. Soo spawn killing a guy 30 times is fine, but blowing up his car once isn’t. However in some ways I like this system because it encourages gunfights instead of everybody pulling out explosives the moment they see a vehicle.

- Most complaints about ‘unfair’ bad sport points are wildly exaggerated. Nobody goes to bad sport for defending themselve once or accidentally blowing up 2 vehicles. An accident can tip you over the edge, but your earlier actions are what put you on the threshold.

- Preventing friends from playing with each other is unacceptable. Anything which tries to do that is a broken system.

- Passive mode also needs a big rethink (would work better as a straight PvP flag)

- Free-roam would probably be less of a warzone if the game had better PvP support. But with the terrible matchmaking and godawful settings the Deathmatches are basically unplayable and it’s very unlikely they’ll be salvaged any time soon.

- Aggressiveness in free-roam also has a knock-on effect. After you get randomly attacked a couple of times in a row it's easy to assume hostility from any and all players.

 

The question has been asked a dozen times, so I can only be bothered to give the cliff-notes answer. But still my cliffnotes seem twice as long as what anybody else has to say.

It's fair. People in badsport lobbys are sick and should be left there. I can't wait to go back to goodsport loobys...
