when i press the shoot button and nothing happens. i have to press it 3-4 times before the window breaks. im glad it doesn't happen each time

There's your problem. You are pressing the button istead of holding it... When shooting from a car, you have to hold the button. First day with gta or what? Lol..

so I press square a few times

get my hand out the window (bird)

and now my window is rolled down

Get your fist out and give someone to middle finger out of window and the window will wind down.

In GTA IV you just tapped LB to break it, now you have to hold it for a quarter of a second or so. It's always the first thing I do when I get in my vehicles..

i hold it down and nothing happens thats when i start pushing it over and over until the window breaks

I don't know if it's just a mental thing, but I found slowing down slightly by letting go of acceleration usually makes my character break the glass instead of shooting in the front. Do that before you get into a hot zone or someone is chasing you and you have a little headway.

The dot for the crosshair is gray during this period and you can see your character swinging around like "IDK WHERE TO SHOOT FROM UHHHHHHH"

 

All the while you're getting lit up and face melted. F*ck that sh*t is annoying.
