Criminal records / Down the Drain

We know it's for fast rp but what's the rush? What are they trying to unlock which requires doing depressing races over and over. I've played on average 4 hours a day over 2-3 weeks and i got rank 131 and absolutely no grinding and more than enough time spent in free roam too so it's not like it takes long to level anyway. ..

Car modifications is a big one. The only reason I race Criminal Records is for that. While the other races may be more "fun," it can be incredibly hard to find a lobby with Custom Vehicles turned off. In turn, that makes it "unfun" to race at a disadvantage. Criminal Records is a good place to win races with the class of cars you're looking upgrade. Once that's over, you can then join the other "fun" races.

Actually, Criminal records is extremely fun. Most people do it for RP, but the simplicity of the track makes it really challenging when you have evenly matched vehicles.

It's only boring if you are there to swap wins or facing cars that aren't on the same level of speed and grip. I was in a group of evenly matched cars the other night, and we literally spent 3 hrs racing because it was FUN!

I can't wait to set up my OWN Nascar style race at the Casino racetrack. People love to knock Nascar by saying it's just cars turning left all the time, but when you actually race that type of track with closely matched competition, you realize that it is very entertaining and technical.

Well im still to get a single win yet. Prob done over 50 races but usually just get taken out on the first straight and then are royally screwed for the rest of the race. Hard to find any races now without custom cars and although I have a fair stack of cash I can only do cosmetic mods on my cars until I get some wins. Frustrating to say the least.

I found out rammers hate traffic and of course watched them all rage quit out a race on (The Commute) map and barely made it to the finish line

Proof the people who do criminal records are brain dead. I join a quick race and get criminal records (wow I didn't see that coming). Anyway people on mic in the lobby are like ohhh a 131 kick him!! Seriously rank had nothing to do with racing skills. Granted they can have a fully modded car which will only be marginally better anyway but turning custom vehicles off counters that anyway. Problem is they don't have the brain cells to figure that our. They're too busy pressing r2 and keeping hold off right on the analogue.

Not everyone is "brain dead". I agree about the douchebags who kick people rather than simply remove custom vehicles, but those people are just in there for ranking up and collecting "wins".

What YOU need is to experience Criminal Records with RACERS, not people stockpiling stats. If you race with evenly matched vehicles, you'd be surprised just how entertaining going around that circle really is when you are neck and neck with several other cars. SURE, you will probably end up knocked out of the track, but you might also make it through, which is quite fun.

You can also set it up for more than just 2 or 3 laps, which is even better. Try hosting your own races, there are plenty of guys who just want to race.

I think in your case the only real option is to host your own and take custom cars off unfortunately. if there was an option to find races based on set criteria you could join any open race with custom cars off to even the odds.

I totally understand how it would be annoying to have almost no chance of winning but I've got a a sports/muscle/bike/coupe/sedan all modded specifically for racing (and currently saving up for a super) to give myself the greatest possible chance of winning.

Then race down the drain then?

Personally I don't see what the problem is, I can always find different races with at least 2 other people in them.

Unrelated question - do you play or played World of Tanks?

I think I may have, once, quite a while ago.. Why?

I can't understand why the rest of you give a flying f*ck about how other people enjoy their time. If some players want to run Criminal Records repeatedly, so be it. It doesn't harm you one bit. At least they aren't glitching. Why do you give a sh*t what they do?

If it was a few people then fine but every dum [email protected] is doing it meaning you cannot find a decent race that isn't one of these tracks

Cheers will try that again mate. Just wish they did it the other way round so that the engine mods were unlocked through your level and the race wins unlocked the cosmetic improvements. Seems unfair they give the guys who win all the time faster cars hardly keeps an even playing field does it.

I hate traffic because that's not how real street racing works. Every race in the rw I've been to/raced in has been on a deserted street. I've raced on the interstate a couple of times when no one else was around but just from a kick starting at like 55 to 100mph then end it. Also I've never been to a street race where where you have to go around a corner or make a turn. They are always 1/4 or somtimes 1 mile drag races depending on the road we are at. The races I've been to will have over 200 cars lined up down the street so its a big time race. Anyone who races through traffic has watched fast and furious to many times and is an idiot. Its one thing to risk my own life or the other drivers because we know the risk but a mom taking her kids home doesn't and Iwould never put anyones life in danger who wasn't involved in the race. Rockstar should have made drag races and the ability to tune your car better ie raise the boost but with that comes the risk of blowing your engine ect.

I'm an avid racer and motorsports fan. I get what you are talking about, but GTA is not the place for this level of realism. There has to be a balance between realism and over the top whackiness. The vast majority of GTA fans aren't hardcore racefans.

I play a ton of Nascar, and whenever I get the bug to race more seriously, I take a break from GTAV and pop in my copy of Nascar: Inside Line. I even use a wheel and pedal set that is attached to a racing simulator chassis that I use SOLELY for playing Nascar and Gran Turismo.

I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, the majority of players are only interested in RP and Trophies, which is just the way it is. Don't give up, there ARE plenty of people who run for fun. It may take a while, but hosting your own races and eliminating custom vehicles is the way to go.

I spent 3 hrs the other night running 5 lap races with a fun group of guys. Sure, there was a ton of wrecks, but that cannot be avoided because the vehicles in this game have no sense of weight or grip. Tapping another car should NOT send it flying 200 feet into the air, but it was STILL quite fun.

It is entirely affecting my game. This is not an exaggeration, 80-90% of races I join are criminal records or down the drain, I would like to do one of the many races available that is not one of these two.

Host my own? as other people have said no-one else (or the odd one) joins these as clearly a large percentage of the player base is grinding out these two (or the matchmaking system really is that bad). 1 on 1 races are not particularly fun especially when you had to wait 5+ minutes just for that person to join in the first place and the rewards are greatly diminished.

I used to have excellent races with full lobbies changing track each time a couple of patches ago, now I have to either stop racing altogether or join a race that I get very little enjoyment out of.

With the right group any race can be fun, even repeated. However, finding the right group is pretty damn hard. Most of the lobbies are full of kids who wreck you at every opportunity. I don't mind incidental contact but this thing of ramming people off the track every chance you get isn't fun. The person doing the wrecking typically wrecks themselves most of the time and then gains absolutely nothing other than ruining both of our races. Having list of good reliable friends that also enjoy clean racing is a big help.

I actually enjoy Down the Drain with a good group that is there to race clean and have fun. It's a challenging area to get everything just right and the cardboard boxes on the track throw in an element of danger because they can easily ruin your perfect lap.

That said I enjoy all the races and typically try to find a good variety during the time I'm on. Sometimes that means a lot of quitting and looking again unfortunately.

Enjoying their time by farming Criminal Records/Down the Drain? I find that hard to believe.

The problem is, that it's extremely difficult to find a decent racing lobby, because 95% of the community seems to be only playing those two incredibly boring tracks. The rest are usually playing The Commute, Route 68 or Downtown Underground, which are definetly decent maps, but are already getting old.

Trouble is when hosting the very poor matchmaking system they use means your sat around waiting for people to join. As to the turning custom cars off, no thank you ive spent ages getting a car in each class (2 to go super and suv) and spending money on modding them that i want to use them in races.

Coming from a lsc glitcher , I hate criminal records with a passion . I'm so tired of this god damn map it's not even funny. What's sucks if u want to race with other players u have to race these two maps.

I don't knock the ppl for wanting to rank up quickly, but I have to say these two race maps are killing the playability of this game. The lsc glitch doesn't hurt gameplay as much as these two races . The sad part is that u can rank up at a decent past doing a different combinations of races , with personal best record on. I hate joining a lobby then being kicked because the idiots can't close their match making .I also hate when I see like lvl 150s+ hosting the map . U already have all your unlocks why are u still exploiting criminal records ? At least down the drain have a little challenge to it . I tried to host other races but no one joins. I can understand the other races can be frustrating because they are longer and challenging maps , and one mistake can cost u the race but please ppl switch it up. At least throw in arms race. Hell, u get 4k rep on the bike races.

Because it's difficult to find good races. Sometimes I have to quick search for a race 10+ times before I find one that's not on these tracks - and even then, it ends up being catchup most the time.

Mickey Boozer

The problem is doing 1 lap races is the fastest way to level up.

To fix it they need to lower RP from 1 lap races and make Hard difficulty missions on Free Aim servers give x3 RP, let people level up playing the hardest settings instead of circle jerking the same lap.

f*ck ya!

I mean really.. Free AIm servers should get an automatic 2 or 3 times more RP and Cash.

Also races should be adjusted to miles. It should be atleast 8 laps to get the current payout in criminal records.

It is very strange that a huge amount of laps gives you no extra reward. A 99 lap race is going to give you a max cash payout of 13k, hardly worth the effort when a single lap will get you the exact same result.

I remember seeing a Davie with an avatar close to yours. Might have been yours or just a coincidence. Thank you for the answer.

Oh well... Keep trying I suppose

Down the drain is a ton of fun and takes some real skill to get good clean laps. Beat 1 minute 5 second lap in any vehicle and then come tell me it's easy as driving in a circle. Beat my time and ill believe it.

Yeah I agree. Criminal Records I quit because its just a circle, and half the time there's at least one idiot troll going the wrong way just trying to get in collisions for laughs. Down The Drain I'll still do, it can be very fun with the right people, and there are some tricks for faster laps that 99% of people aren't smart enough to use or don't bother with. I steal a lot of wins on that track.

OP's general point is right though, I wish there were more variety. I actually found a few players last night that did a chopper race, a coupes race through the city, a bike race, and then a lazer race. I was over the moon at just finding a couple people that didn't want to just do the same grinding garbage. Much more fun.

This whole issue does bother me, I've been racing a lot more than anything else in the game and really enjoy it but getting the same races over and over is just tiresome. I do still find sessions with people that want a variety of races but it does take a long time to find them, what's worse is that in the early stages of online, you would very rarely find repeat races.

I still enjoy Down the Drain but don't want to do it ALL the time. Every time I see Criminal Records I quit the session (I get 0% enjoyment from that race under all circumstances)

I'd love a filter system or something that blocks me from ever seeing Criminal Records via the quick join option, along with options to find races that have my desired options (like car class, catchup/custom status)

Everyone who's pissed at this should blame R* and not the players. They decided to put weapons behind rank walls and high end cars behind huge GTA money pay walls. If they focused on player freedom rather than the hamster wheel model, more people would play for fun rather than to grind rank points.

Also on this topic, paying saying down the train takes a lot of sill are incorrect. In fact it's probably the worst track from a skill perspective since the pieces of cardboard on the ground can do everything from launch you in the air to spin you out at random.

There was this channel on Twitch with this guy grinding Criminal Records over and over. The thing is, the guy was like level 400 something with absolutely nothing left to unlock or grind for, other than slowly increasing a number. Oh, and like 500 people were watching him do it. Like wtf man.

Stars and Drag Kings... VERY predictable. The first time I did Down the Drain I had it pegged. Criminal Records was popular before I played it so I had no chance to predict its herd-popularity.
