Advice: Exploits and being a "bad sport"

OK, so I understand that most people don't like the bad sport system, but you better get used to it. I have a few friends who have done exploits to get money and most of them have been banned. I also know people who have consistently been bad sports and have received temporary bans and profile resets. My advice is play the game properly, enjoy the experience, Rockstar have worked hard on this so just play it the way your supposed to, don't glitch, cheat, hack or mod because it will inevitably result in you being banned in some form, so play nice.

Whether or not Rockstar worked hard on this, they grossly misinterpreted the GTA experience and actively punish players, some of whom just want to play normally, for playing the game as they're used to playing GTA. In single-player it is expected of us to go crazy, but in Online we're suddenly expected to play nice. They should have known this and been able to tailor the experience for all players by having different types of lobbies. A lobby where anything goes, a mode like GTA IV's free roam, a lobby where you have to play nice or your character is punished. Instead they're trying to push everyone to play exactly the same, which is the opposite of the freedom that GTA is supposed to be about.

How am I supposed to race on this track when half of it is broken?

Stop assuming that you know how gta is "supposed" to be played

You don't have to play nice at all. Go ahead and be a dic*, you'll just be put in bad sport lobbies. What's so wrong with that? You don't lose money or anything you just get to play with others that play the game like you do.

Unless your upset that you can no longer enjoy messing with people who are doing their own thing. Maybe your upset that your the one getting harassed now.

Bad sport is an excellent addition to the game. The online gta now has a lot of cooperative aspects. It's sort of hard to be cooperative when you go near anyone online and get shot for no reason at all. Or when there is some D bag waiting in front of LSC just to be a troll.

Luckily lately these things haven't been happening since most of the dic* players have been filtered out of the good sport lobbies I'm in.

There's a fine line between being a jerk and playing the damn game. Blowing up someone who is attacking you is not being a bad sport, but plenty of people are being labeled bad sport because of it. They give people tanks and expect them not to blow each other up. It's ridiculous. Some of the most fun I had with GTA IV was with a friend, friendly fire turned off, and spamming rockets at one another just because we could. Or Friendly Fire on and just trying to mess with each other. Driving around and randomly setting off a grenade on the car we were using. We weren't penalized for having fun or "being jerks" to one another. We didn't take it seriously and we had fun.

If we tried it in GTA V we would be labeled a bad sport. It's like Rockstar expects us only to play cooperatively, to never mess around with each other, and they actively punish you if you do otherwise. GTA was about freedom and sometimes that includes the freedom to be a little mean. There is a point where it becomes bad sport, but their definition of bad sport is too loose.

That's great and all. What if I want to blow things up and start a rampage, BUT then I want to go play golf with my friends that are good sports. Should I convince me to take a timeout?

'Expected to go crazy' is not exactly the lesson I got from the cops in single player, but to each their own I guess...

We can, with relative ease, barge into a military base and steal a fighter jet. We can buy a tank and drive around blowing up cars. We can commit mass murder whenever it pleases us and shoot people who get in our way in traffic. Yes we have to deal with the police, and the police in GTA V definitely make free roaming mayhem less fun for me, but we're still given plenty of tools and always have the option to go nuts. When you add other players into the mix you can't expect people to not mess around. Especially if the mayhem is what they find the most fun about your game. It's like giving a kid a coloring book and putting them in timeout for using the crayons to draw scribbles. There is a point where a person starts being a true 'bad sport' but Rockstar doesn't look for that.

How would you fix that though? I do agree that some are labeled bad sports when they shouldn't be but the vast majority do. How would you differentiate between the true bad sports and the mistaken ones?

They should just add another option when you go online, they have Go, Invite only etc...

They could just scrap bad sport and have free roam where anything goes and free roam with no player killing so people can join to team up

Probably by not having bad sport. The sentiment is a good one, but there is no way a computer can decide whether someone is trolling or just having fun with their friends. Perhaps have it so that every lobby is started by a user who sets the rules for said lobby. For example a Free-For-All Lobby would just allow anyone to do anything. A Cooperative Lobby would warn someone who does things that are not in the spirit of cooperation (such as blowing up other people's vehicles and if the behavior continues kick them from the server. On a cooperation lobby no one should be spawn-killing each other for example, so anyone who spawn kills someone will be warned (in case it was accidental) and if it happens 2 or 3 times in a row they get booted. That way it's up to the player whether they intend to play GTA:O cooperatively or just causing chaos.

i dont care about bad sport anymore... i think you land in the bad sport lobby if you blow personal cars too often during a short period of time.

i blow up atleast 5 personal cars every session, the other day i played a couple times during the day and blew up some 13 personal cars... people get crazy when they see you with a 9k bounty.

i blew them in self defense!

I think its good to have a player killing ability though, as long as its for legitimate reasons. I like the concept of bounties ect.. my main problem right now I guess is simply human nature. Some people enjoy bothering other players and killing them for their own personal enjoyment.

Hell, 5 minutes ago I drove onto a secluded beach in my car well away from any roads or players. Got out of the car and turned on passive mode so I could go to the bathroom and grab some food. But guess what, 3 minutes later I come back to glance at screen and some player is trying to run me over and destroy my car.

This is what my problem is. Why can't these mother fuc*ers just mind their own business?! Its gotta be kids or some very immature adult. This guy went well out of his way to simply try and kill me for no reason.

This is why I love the bad sport implementation

I agree you should be able to kill other players in free roam but there should also be a free roam where you can't.

I gave up with free roam because i spent most of the time avoiding dots on the map, im not a bad player i'll head shot little boys all day but sometimes i can't be arsed looking over my shoulder all the time.

I say scrap bad sport and have a GTA free roam and a passive free roam for us pussys
