Holy schmack thats lame. I draw the line there. I might have paid for sex but paying a girl to be a 'fulltime' escort/girlfriend I draw the line at. The only people I can see getting an escort are men that are rich and dont have time to develop a real relationship or men that are fat and balding and have no confidence so have to pay women to be their girlfriend.

Well in their culture it's quite normal. Just as going to karaoke bars.

Many japanese people just want some temporary acquaintance. They don't want someone clingy, calling them up, wanting regular meetings, some social commitment which forces them into compromises. So they rather pay to have their control over it.
