Off the Radar is a joke.

1 minute invisibility with a 5 minute cooldown? Really?

I was looking forward to this, I thought I could finally get a normal looking car, dress my character up in normal clothing, and pretend to be an NPC, stalking and sneaking up on bounties and smacking them with the baseball bat.

But nooOOOoooOOOo, that would be fun, and we can't have that.

Being able to always see everyone is bullsh*t from the very start. What is this ADHD, constant action, never a quiet moment garbage anyway? It doesn't feel very much like you're part of the world when you blend in as well as Charlie Sheen at a preschool.

The only use I've found for "off the radar" is when I'm up on a building and a bunch of idiots are driving into it trying to kill me because they see a blip there. I call Lester up, and they all think I vanished and then move far enough away from the building that I can shoot them.

yup I personally think it should not show other players on the radar at all (except freinds)! It should be like reality you don't know where everyone else is...but then you would not even know where the guy with the bounty is.

In reality...if you are being chased by another person you can loose them...but you are always on the radar and they will always know where you are so its a bit stupid. SO if you use off the radar to lose a player...after a minute they will know exactly where you are....stuuuppiiiidd.

but then again no players shown in the rader will only work I think in a world that is full of players...not just 16 players. 16 players in a big map + no one showing in the rader = no one hardly finding each other.

Joining a lobby and not knowing where anyone was would be atrocious. The online world is boring without other players... and that's what you're asking for.

I love off the radar. My only beef is how long it takes to activate.

First you gotta cycle through the names list on the phone, call lester and then activate it.

Wish we could just put in on speed dial.

Should make it 5 mins, with 10 min cooldown, long enough to get sh*t done on the sly, not too long so everyone is always invisible. People with active bounty unable to hide themselves

I only use it if I want to get to somewhere (such as Apartment) when I have a bounty. And I use it if I am relatively close to the apartment, because of the 1 minute time...

actually, it makes it more of a challenge to play because the game is now more realistic. You generally can't tell a irl criminal apart from normal population. Unless it's something obvious like (carrying/using illegal weapons, attitude, physical dress like sporting gang tattoos etc).

Unless you've got a bounty on your head and/or doing PvP, you really shouldn't know where other players are at online.

If you're a PvP player, then you would let other PvP players know you're in the session by some sort of bad sport activity (a random ped kill, blow up car etc). At some point, another PvP player would show up to kill you. But the moment any player kills another player, they automatically reveal themselves on the map. This would remain permanent for the entire gaming session.

That way, the problem of griefing players who don't want to do PvP would be resolved--while making it more of a challenge for PvP players as well.

Sounds like you want an advantage.

I can do some amazing stuff with 'off the radar'. It's great when getting revenge.

Don't want constant action? Invite only session. Stop getting mad because you can't kill people unfairly.

And good luck "stalking players" with a baseball bat even if all the players were hidden. Who the f*ck doesn't run or drive a 100 MPH? Especially with a bounty?

Lol "but noooooooo".

Wish it lasted a lot longer or least until you fire a shot or commit a crime. As it stands it does come in handy but it could be way better

this has worked worked for me multiple times. Nothin like a good snipe from nowhere to get the "wtfs" flying.

I hate how we have to have the names of the other players on the same contact list as our NPC helpers. they should have put a seperate list for messaging randoms.

Somebody mentioned revealed as we fight. I agree. I think we should be off radar until we kill another player, then its 2-3mins on the radar before "losing" whoever is chasing us, similar to tail mission mechanics. Overall though, this would hugely diminish the fun of being in a public lobby to begin with. Running from griefers, killing glitchers when bored, and sniping from a mile away would all be next to impossible if I couldn't see where everyone was.

I've seen it, I stalk people from above in a buzzard all the time. I've found a lot of people just wandering around in the desert on foot or robbing stores. I'll call a mugger, then call lester and wait for the mugger to catch the guy. when he does, I land my chopper, kill the mugger and make off with the loot.

It sounds good on paper anyway but sucks, I usually never make anything and wind up losing money so I've only tried it a few times. They need to reduce the cost of the mugger or make it that if he's successful you get the money automatically.

There needs to be a hardcore freemode for those who want it, it shouldn't be mandatory. If you dont make noise, you dont show on the radar. Simple fix, took rockstar a little while to implement hc and friendly freeroams to rdr, should be available eventually...in a few weeks or so

They have something like this, though. Invite only session. The randomness of not being able to trust your fellow player is key to freemode play online. Taking it away is the same as making an invite only session.

This allowed me to easily get a bounty.

A guy had a 9k bounty on him, so I started to drive towards him and called lester to hide my blip, my timing couldn't have been more epic due my invisible timer having 5 seconds remaining when I was waiting outside the ammunation and he walked out. It ended with me pumping him with a few rounds of my shotgun and I quickly sped off with hi wondering wtf happened.. Seconds later he put a 9k bounty on me and left the game, what he doesn't know is I also survived his bounty with lots of daring moves and close call battles with other players and mercenaries. But not without some help from my crew member.

not sure if you were addressing me here. But if you were, it wouldn't be an advantage, just more challenging for PvP gamers. This would work the same way how going incognito works in AC2 Brotherhood. If R* fixes passive mode and makes it truly 100% invincible mode, then "sneaking up" on a ped or real person wouldn't make a difference. Because if passive mode worked like it should, then the PvP player would only be able to kill the ped---and not the real player.

But in killing a ped or attacking a real player, the PvP player would automatically reveal themselves on the map (and possibly earn a wanted level) in the process. They would also become unable to become invisible until they changed sessions. Regardless, everyone--including the intended victim---would immediately know there is a PvP gamer on the map. And would know to avoid (PvE gamers like myself) or move towards them (other PvP players) based on their type off gaming style.

I also think that killing a ped who is mistakenly taken for a real player, should earn that PvP player an automatically 2-3 star level. But if they attack a player in passive mode, the warning level could depend on whether that player chose to report them or not. Or if ped AI in the area call the police etc.

Btw: I'm a sandbox immersion PvE style player and typically play Invite Only (like 90% of the time). So PvP in general (aka. any random killing outside of mission/side mission markers) really puts me off. The other 10% of the time is when I'm in FM doing PvE crime activities against peds/cops. Stuff like robbing stores, jacking ped cars for Simeon/LSC and starting gang wars in the red circles on the map etc. I always give other online players a great deal of space when not in an Invite Only session. I also don't seek out players for missions unless the system forces me to.

*Dressed like an npc*

Off the radar->equip baseball bat->beat bewildered players to death :)

Not gonna be doing it more than once to any one player, or doing it constantly, but its really funny the first couple times heh

I understand you just unlocked this ability and expected to be perma-invisible, but frankly, that would be retarded.

The ability is incredibly lethal already, it's the ultimate offensive and defensive ability. When you use it right, it guarantees you win every conflict and can accomplish any goal versus other players. The only thing that can even begin to combat this ability is itself, and if you're still on your cooldown when they use it? You better be finding an amazing defensive position where you can see every direction they can come from, because they're near you somewhere and they know where you are and which way you're facing.

It should be 5 mins with no cooldown and up the price to 1k and make it easier to activate.

5 min duration would be better :)

Two people who have never used this ability offensively, and have never had this ability used against them, so they don't realize how ridiculously powerful it is to be invisible in this game.

You can't see them, but they can see you. You're going to get killed at least three times before those 60 seconds are over. You can accomplish literally anything, and then some, in 60 seconds of radar invisibility.

one minute is plenty of time to claim a bounty.

Yup, it's more than enough to do anything, a few times over. You can be sailing towards a bounty in a jet, use Off The Radar from 2 radar-lengths away, and then parachute down to his location, snipe him, call the mechanic for your car, get in, and be driving away with time to spare.

You can spawnkill people a few times, and they really have no way to stop you (other than using Off The Radar themselves).

This is easily the most OP ability in the game, which is why the people who use it properly love it so much. It's basically God Mode.

This is an ability where timing is critical for maximum effectiveness, and it's most useful in emergency situations where you're about to die, so I could see that. I use it for every bounty I hunt, just have to call Lester on the way there and keep it ready lol.

People still play this game? Catch me on battlefield 4 bitches

Though apparently its not good enough to pull you away from these forums lol..

Seriously though, BF4 is a pretty f*ckin epic game, fun times.

I love stealth and turning off the blips would be a lot f*cking better. They should at least give us the option like Free Aim. I'd f*ck with that mode all day everyday. It would make the Open World feel better, with random sh*t going on and you have no idea who they are until you actually go and talk to them.

You wouldn't even have to kill everyone, personally if I get shot at or have a gun pointing my direction then only then would I retaliate.

Off the Radar needs to be on all the time, or an option for a more expensive "off the radar" for a whole day.
