Online race betting system and traffic bug....

Anyone else get fed up of the online betting system for races, ive lost count of the amount of times ive had great odds on my character to win, only to put money on and win the race but get no extra reward because `not enough bets have been placed`.....this is the dumbest system ive ever heard of, why is it my fault if noone else wants or can be arsed to gamble? why should I lose a chance at winning with the money ive staked? it makes no sense what so ever, im still putting money on and risking it if I dont win so what does it matter if others do or not?

Just made this thread after a race that involved that and a bug costing me 80k for 1 victory which left me fuming, basically criminal records 3 lap race, traffic off which in this race simply means the parked vehicles which spawn near the finish line and do get in the way if you have traffic enabled do not spawn...... or are not meant to anyway.

First annoyence, im given 33/1 to win the race, obviously I stick 2500 dollars on it as thats over 80k if I win right? WRONG! noone else betted so the bet was voided.....GGRRRRRRRR! Second annoyence, no problems until last lap, im in the lead, come round the last bend....BANG! smack into parked traffic which isnt even meant to be there as traffic is disabled and wasnt there until the last lap(like I said-bug) so not only did it cost me the win but the dumbass betting system would have cost me 80k dollars even if I had won just because noone else decided to bet.

Anyone else get annoyed over this? or experienced this bug with criminal records racing? (not the first time its happened to me the bug by the way but doesnt get any less irritating esp when your heading for a sure thing win.)

1) Buy second console

2) Money glitch like a bear eating salmon

3) Invite second console to Race

4) Place bets

Can you bet on yourself as-well-as another player? If you can then you would be able to justify your wager. $2500 on you to win $100 on another player. Not sure if you can do this though?

You are slightly confused as to how betting works. You are only wagering money against the other players. It's not like there is an outside agency taking your bets and paying you off at 33/1 if you win.

You are wagering your money against the others racers money. Just like in a real life street race scenario. If the other drivers do not risk money, THERE IS NO MONEY FOR YOU TO WIN, and that is why betting is cancelled.

Also, don't be fooled by the 33/1 initial odds. They were only set like that because no one else wagered. As soon as someone else placed a bet, your odds would have dropped down to 3/5 or maybe even 2/5. The most you win from that race when you bet $2500 is $1500 profit. Most of the time you only win $1000 profit.

I've tested the betting system extensively. Hours of research. Don't be too pissed. You were never going to win 80k. You would have won 1500 at best. But you didn't even win the race, so....

Also, without other players betting, there is no money to pay you off. You are wagering against them.

well then thats whats f*cked up about it then because its plainly isnt presented like that, when you place a bet at 33/1 odds for example you expect to win 33 times what you bet, thats how real life betting works. maybe the system needs to be simplified then because ive certainly never seen anything explaining it as anything other then straight betting, I assumed the odds were based on past performences and it was just a little sidegame to risk or earn some more dollars.

Not entirely true mbhitman

Try this:

Winner - Bet $100

Loser - Bet $2500

The results confuse the sh*t out of me but I don't care... it just all adds up to my glitched pile of money.

I can't wait for that stimulus man.. it's going to make such a huge difference

You can do this with 3 people racing. You can't do it with only 2 people.

Ummm ok? But you're forcing the loser to dump $2500 to you each race. That seems slightly far fetched.

Just try it...

I do it with two accounts... sh*t doesn't make sense. You make more than $1500 on a $100 bet. Tested multiple times with my partner... each betting $2500 was for the birds.

My account is at 1.2mil bet... makes my car sales seem better :)

if you bet like 200 or 500, it is never more then the $100 bet... explain this sh*t to me please

Winner bet $100

Loser bet $2500

I guess if the net gain of the winnings is over $2600 you could take turns winning.

Ok, so I tried this theory. It's WORTHLESS.

Winner bets $100

Loser bets $2500

The winner gets $1980 from betting.

But the loser sacrifices $2500 for it.

So in the long run, you end up losing money as a group. Even if you did this as a 2 man team trading wins, you would actually LOSE $620 each race. It's stupid.

First off, yeah, it's kind of stupid that you need enough people to bet for it to work.

Second, if you put $2,500 on 33/1 odds, the odds would've changed to something more reasonable.

You must not have read my first reply to this thread which already explained why the system works like this.

im still confused how the betting works. For instance me and my friend do a 1 vs. 1 race we both bet $1000 i win and it says i only win $600 on the bets and he loses all $1000 of his bet...wtf, where did the other $400 go?

I know the odds don't effect how much money you will win but i think the reason they have them is because you can bet on other players and i think they reflect your win/lose ratio. For instance lets say your in a race with 2 other players one of them has 1/2 odds the other has 4/5 you have 1/100 odds. Im pretty sure this means that you have only won about 1 out of every hundred races( 1%)...so no one is gonna bet on you, the guy with 1/2 has won about 1 out of every 2 races(50%) thats not bad but the guy with 4/5 has won about 4 out of every 5 races(80%) which is pretty damn good, i would bet my money on him. Now heres where it gets interesting, lets say you have done about 300 races and only won about three, well your odds are pretty accurate with 1/100, and lets say the guy with 1/2 odds has done about 300 races and has won about 150 give or take a couple, well his odds are pretty accurate too, but lets say the guy with 4/5 just started to play racing and has only done 5 races and won 4 of them, well he could be a 4/5 odds racer or he might of just gotten lucky his first few try's, 5 races isn't really enough to tell so i probably wouldn't bet on anybody in this scenario because you(Mr.1/100) know your not that good, you know Mr.1/2 only wins half the time(would you bet on a flip of a coin) and you can't be sure about Mr.4/5 (he could be a fluke), but lets say Mr. 4/5 has done about 300 races(multiply 300 x 80%) then this would mean he has won about 240 races, so in this situation i defenatly would bet everything i could on him.

Long story short if somebody has really good odds and has done lots of races( i would say at least 200 but you can use your own judgement) bet on them, if the guy with the best odds has only done a handfull of races though, consider betting on the next best, but only if he has very good odds and his race total is enough to make you feel that his odds are not a fluke. Or if your feeling really confident bet on yourself. In the end whatever you choose is a gamble, the odds are just to give you a general idea of how that particular player has performed in the past. This is my theory anyways

still not sure why i only won $600 dollars though when me and my friend both bet $1000

Idk why youre having these problems, it works fine when I bet. The game assigns odds for each player to win based on driving stat and w/l record at the betting screen after the vehicle selection screen. The odds then change depending on who bets on who, but ive always recieved what I was offered by the odds when the race starts. Ive noticed that if you wager on more than one player, the game will sometimes allow your bet to be the only one entered and not disable betting at the start. Why that happens I dont know, but I usually put 1k on myself and 100 on the player I think may beat me and sometimes it works. When the race ends ill be the only player with money earned or lost on the results screen. The thing I do know is that if I got 5/1 odds and won, I got 5x my wager, everytime. Im on ps3 if that matters

you realize that if you bet 2500 on the winner and 100 on the loser the winner actually gets his 2500 back on top of a 1000 more for a total of 3500 , were if you bet 100 and win 1980 you win 2080 idk that sounds like a 1500 dollar diference the negative way

you should go punch your math teacher in the face they failed you miserably

so why if im in a 2 man race me and my friend if we both bet $1000 on ourselves and i win the race i only win $600 but he still loses all $1000, it feels like im winning the race but still losing $400 on the bet...it's really confusing to me, shouldn't i at least win $1000...thought i should win $2000 because i thought our money went into a pot
