Car armour question

Well actually, I have two questons.

1. Does the armour only add resistance to Bullets? That is what I was thinking, or does it make the body less susceptible to deformation damage too? This kind of ties in with the 2nd question because of the mass increase...

2. People with the iFruit app say armour may actually make your car slower/worse acceleration. Because it increases mass. Is this true? If so, by how much does the mass increase? Also I'm guessing increased mass = easier to f*ck other people's cars up.

Maybe to engine, but let's say, I drove top speed and the whole impact hit my left front wheel. The wheel would have a big chance of becoming deformed and may even stop working, would there be less chance of this with armour?

Simple answer is yes

I have 60% armor and it is noticeably different when crashing, being shot at etc. I know this is I have a similar model with hard top convertible without armor and the car gets damaged a lot more

As for mass=???? i do feel that the car is heavier to drive but am not 100% certain

Hmmm... Sounds almost as if more Armour = better car for races considering all anyone does is try to ram you.

Don think you want full armor on a racing car to be honest

Have a mission car with all the armor upgrades and a racing car with all the racing upgrades. Most races dont last long enough to warrant armor expense unless its wacky races or mario cart as i call them

I falsely assumed car armour meant armoured car. But there is no bullet protection from car armour that I have recognized.

Doesn't protect the driver from getting hit by bullets through the windows, but it does make the car much tougher overall. Takes more abuse to blow it up.

All armour will do is keep the shape of your car a lot more during crashes and it will just strengthen your car so it is harder to blow up. Easiest way to test this is go to the front of the car with an mg or assault rifle and shoot the grill, The stock one will prob blow up within 2-3 clips but an an armoured car will withstand a lot more. Also the engine doesn't start to bog down as fast as stock engines do as soon as they take a little amount of damage.

I have noticed it that helps for deformation and overall damage when doing stunt jumps. I have Not seen it go any slower in my opinion.

Armor slows your car down but increases weight making it tougher to budge off the racetrack. We tested this with a couple different vehicles and while theres no conclusive way to prove armor adds weight, its pretty easy to feel the difference when you drive the same vehicle often.

We added 100% armor to an infernus and used another infernus with no armor but identical performance mods for our test on route 68. The infernus with the armor easily pushed around the lighter infernus when battling side by side, but the difference in weight was enough to allow the unarmored infernus enough speed advantage to make this not worth it. We did similar tests with bf Injection, sentinals and, bodhis each had similar results.

In conclusion its my opinion that you want to have cars for racing with no more than 40% armor on them, the more theyre built for speed, the easier they explode from balistic damage I.e. super and sport classes and cars with maximum armor for freemode and mission transport.

The voltic coil is the ideal car for freemode due to its ridiculous acceleration, braking and, turning radius even with full armor. Its small size makes for a tougher target as well, even the windows are tiny giving would be attackers a difficult time trying to kill the driver. The only drawback being its low ride height which paired with lowered suspension will send it flying off of curbs and small objects on the road. A dead body can potentially flip it over but this rarely happens. A skilled driver/gunman riding shotgun combo can own a freemode for quite a while in this car.

As for racing its up to your own preference, each car has its ups and downs although I strongly disagree with the entity being the fastest car in the game.

i think that it does slow the movement of the vehicle they feel a little heavier. i know for sure tho that they resist impacts better. at 100% it takes a lot more to mess up the structure of the vehicle from crashes.

You like the Infernus? It's probably my favorite Super Car.

I'm guessing the unarmoured car won, even if the armoured one was tougher. But Slipstreaming makes you basically zoom past your opponents, so once the armoured car catches up to you, given the GTA community, get ready to be rammed.

But of course! A little tip- if you join a racd with randoms and they have the settings for catchup set to on and custom vehicles set to on, theres a 95% chance theyre going to try to run you off the road anytime you get close. Catchup will allow rammers the chance to get a second or third try at running you off the road if they miss the first time, when catchup is off the risk of losing is too great since theyre all but done for in a short race if they crash themselves.

The best drivers tend to like longer races with more laps, traffic and no catchup. If you join a lobby for down the drain 1lap catchup on, prepare for demoderby.

As for the infernus its the most balanced super car imo. The in game stats tell another story but having run many races in every super car my entity is now collecting dust in my garage until rockstar allows me to sell it, or I need the space for something ill actually use.

Stringer Bell

so the windows arent bulletproof? that sucks

Wondered this myself... it does seem like armor may affect the handling and performance of the vehicle.

It would be interesting to see the results of a side by side time trial to see if armor affects speed in particular.

Im still trying to get more vehicle tests done with the help of a couple friends but real life gets in the way. Ill definitely post all our data when we do complete it.

With no speedometer, tachometer or odometer given to us in the game, its likely that rockstar has bent the laws of its in game physics to suit the needs of its server load and prevent lag issues. This game will never be taken seriously as a real race simulator, which is a shame since the cars are a lot of fun anda big part of the game, but arcade racing has its own brand of challenges too!

Arcade racing is the best if your goofing around... and gta isnt supposed to be a simulation of anything in fact its the very opposite...

We tested a 0% armor sultan & a 100% armored sultan, both same speed & turning. People tht feel a difference has got the pschological bug. Dont test in free roam, how can you guys test when the timing of when to start is the most important aspect of testing lol. Races allow easier testing as both can just hold gas.

I'm not convinced about heaviness with armour. I do believe it makes your car last longer from damage etc. but then again, I don't ever alter the suspension settings on my cars. I choose a car because of how it drives. Adjusting the suspension seriously alters it's characteristics negatively in my opinion.

Simple answer is get 2 cheap cars, elegy perhaps, give one full armor and one none, then compare.
