I wonder if anybody has gathered this amount online. I'm sure somehow has done the LSC glitch 20,000 times haha, some people are crazy.

Is this money you can have on you or money on the stocks? I'm sure I'm over that amount in profit but my character does not havenit on them, it's all still making more profit on the stocks.

This is really not a mystery, it's the highest possible 2s complement signed 32-bit number.

It isn't 2^32 it's 2^(32-1) - 1. Put it in your calculator.

Whenever signed 2s complement binary numbers have a 1 in front they are negative. For example.

11111111111111111111111111111111 is equal to -2147483648

The equation for most negative 2s signed number is

2^(n-1) or 2^31.

So to have a positive signed binary number you would have to do:

01111111111111111111111111111111

Which is 2^(n-1) - 1 or that bank amout. No mystery.

That is the maximum value possible in a 32-bit system. (2^32).

2^32 won't end with "7"

It is actually 2^31 minus 1

$2^31 = $2,147,483,648

$2,147,483,648 - $1 = $2,147,483,647

I don't think they meant it to go that high either-- I noticed in my game that the money is missing a comma when you were over $1 billion.... it was displayed in parts of the game (not everywhere) as $2147,483,647

//edit// Sorry didn't see killadro's better explanation--

"The number 2,147,483,647 is also the maximum value for a 32-bit signed integer in computing. It is therefore the maximum value for variables declared as int in many programming languages running on popular computers, and the maximum possible score, money etc. for many video games. The appearance of the number often reflects an error, overflow condition, or missing value."

most likely the reason its the limit for cash in V

Yes, GTA V (& RS in reference to the second poster) has a 32-bit integer for money, after 2,147,483,647 you might go into negatives, that's what i heard.

I've decided to bump this because I obviously read in this thread the max money is around 2,147,000,000 but I'm also hearing people have like 2.2 bil and even 2.5 bil. So does anyone have more than that first number without the money going to negative?

Well in UK 2,147,000,000 is 2.2 billion!

2,147,483,647 is the upper limit of a signed 32 bit integer.

So PC v will be able to have more total money or what?

Why would anyone want anymore. 1 billion is enough to buy all the businesses, clothes, guns and cars which could be fully modified and still have around half left for the jets and boats. You'd never need that much especially if you making a million a week from all the assets.

Can you actually put the excess money in stocks? Because when the amount of money exceed this value, it turns IN ASTRONOMIC DEBTS.

I don't care about having more than that but if you go over that your money goes negative which would really suck

Most likely no. R* would have to change the data type to a 64-bit integer. It isn't a hardware limitation rather than a deliberate choice.

It's weird that R* would make the maximum amount so low. It's definitely a lot of money, but not when your game has it's own stock market.

They didn't make it that "low".

It's at that limit because the 360 and PS3, as 32-bit computers, are literally incapable of comprehending a number higher than that.

Nothing more, but this. That is how I see it, too. As long as you got near the 1 billion dollar range, you can mod dozens of vehicles to the fullest, buy all the properties, planes, boats, helicopters, cars, etc. And you won't run out as each week from your assets if you do those missions, you get around 1 million or more dollars. It never runs out...2.1 billion is just rediculous and un-needed. Why would someone even want more than 2.1 billion? That's just retarded.

"Hey guys, I got 9999999999999999999999999 dollar, too bad I only need 1/100,000,000 of this to do everything in the game."

Nonsensical, imo. No one needs that much money, especially in Single Player.

In GTA IV you could have "999,999,999"

That's right. No one need so much. But it's kinda like in the real world. It doesn't matter how much you have. A little bit more would be nicer....

I wounded why there aren't any interest o.o

And they new exactly how much money you can get in the game without a editor. If you save all your money, spend as less as possible you can get with the help from Lester up to 1.8 - 2.0 billion ;)

No, this limit has nothing to do with the 32-bit system of PS3 or 360. GTA V has this 32-bit integer system. Rockstar could use a 64 bit integer and the maximum would increase to 9.223.372.036.854.775.807.

Btw I have over 1.5 trillion $, 2.147 billion cash and the rest is invested in stocks.

id really like to see how you managed that....best I have done is after last lester mission and transferred to my account I had 2.147 bil in account and 1.28 bil in goldcoast stock until the stock dropped and my profit turned into 700 mill...can you post a pic of your portfolio and explain how you did that?

I started with 40 millions after the story and I made it to 200 millions with the last 3 Lester missions.

Then I traded with HAL and PIS and had over 1 billion after I sold it. I was very lucky to put all my money into Weazel when it was down at 1$. Now it is over 1000$ and I still have over 1 billion stocks.

In dezember I sold some Weazel stocks to trade with other stocks too. With Badger, Shark, Tinkle, Whiz, Vapid, HAL I increased my money to 500 or 600 billion $ without the Weazel stocks.
