Marcus-F1
Hi guys, since somebody in the licence topic just said something about insurance, I was wondering what you guys paid for insuring your car. I will start: I have a special oldtimer insurance for the Mercedes and I pay €49,63 a year, for 7500 km a year for limited coverage (If I hit you, my insurance will pay your damage, but not mine) and €28,88 a month for my Opel, also the limited coverage. Cursed
I think it was about £1000 this year, probably about £850 when I renew in January.

Daniel4
I payed £1600 for a 1.2 Clio last year, with limitations and a black box from the insurance company, this year it's £700 with no limitations or blackbox from my insurance as I've moved from London to a much much much smaller place for university. Both fully-comp.

Qqueen
I think the cost of auto insurance will vary significantly depending on the type of car being insured and the driver's records among other factors. One of the best ways to save on the cost of insurance is to take up multiple policies from a single insurance provider. It has worked for me. I have saved about 100 dollars on auto insurance this year.

sivispacem
Basically it's a GPS device with accelerometers in it. Several versions. Some just make sure that you don't drive after certain times. Some monitor your journeys via GPS to accurately establish average mileage. Some "score" your driving. The latter type are particularly sh*t because they assume that all hard acceleration/braking/changes of direction are poor driving. Basically they encourage poor, defensive driving- I tried one of the "black box" apps; I'm IAM trained with something like 100 hours track time, and like to consider myself a good driver, but I was ranked quite poorly on it because it assumed that hard braking particularly is responding to a risk you failed to see, whereas on a fast road drive on dry NSL country roads I'll happily be on the edge of locking coming into sharp corners ect.
