"When" is GTA Online?

A little curious about this. I wonder when GTAO takes place. Romance isn't dead tells you to steal a LOST Van for Trevors gf so it must be before we meet Trevor in SP, I'm thinking it takes place before the SP Campaign [After Yankton of course]

The wierd thing is in the news you see things like Steve Haines dead etc. iirc we have Michael when we kill Steve right?

 

I wonder if we start 3 months prior to the main story, and after levels/missions time catches up?

Yea if you watch TV it shows an episode of Fame or Shame, Lazlow is missing his ponytail and Tracy does an audition, at the end Lazlow says "She was great wasn't she? Seriously vote for her or a f*cking psycho will kill me" which implies its AFTER the Sp Campaign, but that could just be a glitch.

Yeah, the TV and radio don't jive with the timeline.

The GTAO trailer said its a few months before if I remember correctly... If the news and other stuff is in line with it or not i have no idea

Nobody watches TV or actually listens to radio convos on GTA:V so R* didn't waste time changing the TV shows/radio station conversations to make it seem like its before GTA:V because they are minor details.

Lamar still works for Simeon, and Martin lives in the house in Rockford Hills that Michael pulls down.

The online also has news about the death of a skydiver.

It actually occurs during the events of the story line like the mission Lester asks you to destroy all those police vehicle and lead them out Los Santos while that whole Jewelry store heist goes down and also there's a newspaper article about the murder of Michaels psychiatrists and the book he wrote based on their therapy session
