NinjaWJ
Gta IV was good online, but it wasn't a MMORPG so gta 5 wins for me GTA online isn't an MMORPG Do you even know what an MMORPG is? Yes and yes it is - the map makes it massive and it's sales and sheer number of players just push it into the MMORPG category You my friend are a retard. MMORPG stands for MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ROLE PLAYING GAME Firstly 16 Players max is not MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER and GTA is not a roleplaying game The game is not even an MMO, let alone an MMORPG The MASSIVELY part is always misconstrued amongst players, many believe that it is not limited to the number of players a lobby can hold. Gta 5 is massive in its own right. /thread The point of an MMORPG s to have a lot of poeple playing at once. 16 people in a lobby is not a lot. Who are the "many people who believe"? GTA V is a great game, you know it. You were one of those types who over-hyped it, had unrealstic expectations, hated GTA IV and when for some reason GTA V couldn't meet your expectationss, you hid back behind GTA IV and took cheap shots at GTA V. tom_p1980
Much preferred GTA4s MP, GTA Online is dead for me, going to trade it in and see if I can claw some money back. Im hugely disappointed with GTA5 and GTAO. As for which game to get next, I have no idea. The plan was that GTA5 and GTA Online were gonna last me for another 6+ months before I even considered going next gen, sadly its not gonna make 6 weeks. So I think I'll go back to some of my older games and finish those off, should keep me going til Xmas. Soda and Soap

Ligne
coulda fooled me that it was dead. That's not saying much. People on this forum were fooled that there's a hidden dlc with "Tommy Vercettrain" as a playable character.

Algonquin Assassin
While GTA IV MP is pretty bare bones I remember spending hours upon hours playing it and for months end too. I think I've only played GTAO for a couple of hours, but I just can't get hooked on it like GTA IV's. I was hyped for GTAO, but combined with the launch issues I would take a more standard MP like GTA IV and have more SP content anyday.
Racket89
Even though GTA:O is fantastic fun for me (Especially since the healthcare cost got lowered. I want to make money but at the same time I like messing around in free roam and love getting into a war with someone who starts on me first), there are still many things I miss from GTA IV free mode. It kinda had more of an unpredictability and strategy to it, and I guess a lot more chances for expansive wars against others too, seeing as that's pretty much all there was to do when you had explored every last bit of Liberty City and weren't one of those who just seemed to get a fast car and drive around the runways at the airport for about an hour. There was just something about joining a free roam and not knowing if the person around the corner had picked up sticky bombs/rocket launchers or whatever. People could be hiding anything from the moment you started playing, whereas at this point it's pretty easy to guess what a person's weapon of choice will be based on their rank. It had points of getting a rush, from say, both of you going for a nearby rocket spawn, or also trying to steal a health pack from someone at the last minute if their car/heli was on fire, especially the heli thing. There was just something about starting a free roam and going around stocking up on weapons to prepare for battle. Holing up inside the Majestic or the hockey office depending on whether it was the main game or Tony being played online, checking out the map from your area to try and see what people are doing and collecting to try and figure out how they planned to get you and then out-think to get around them, or even say with the hockey office, trick pilots to come in but then you'd parachute down and spawn back up top and get their heli and gain the upper hand through tricking them. With so many things to do and it being so early in the game so everyone being scattered across so many different modes and missions and races, it hasn't really settled down into that kind of strategic war that you could be almost guaranteed to get if you searched for it on GTA IV. I don't know if it'll ever get to that point in GTA:O or not, It might, eventually, when people start free-roaming more, maybe after heists, depending on the rewards gained from heists, but at the same time, I love GTA:O for what it is, too. I've had plenty of decent battles with people, and while they may not always be as strategic yet, it certainly seems more satisfying compared to the beginning of the month. But the unpredictability of what you could come up against seems to be a rare thing these days, with the occasional exception of a tank turret staring you in the face when you leave the garage of your apartment. SkyMiteFall
It was more fun too free roam in iv because after dying 100 times you weren't bankrupt. And weapons didn't lose ammo because you picked em up. if v had a free mode with no bad sport ramifications and weapon pickups and no money, then i think most people who don't now, would enjoy it. Then again maybe I'm just rationalizing and people want to feel "cool" so they hate gta even tho they love it. tom_p1980

tjor24
You can still go killing people you just have to rank up and buy guns/ammo. Bank your money and do just that. How can you say gta 4 was better and then complain about losing money when gta 4 didn't have money to begin with?

How can you say gta 4 was better and then complain about losing money when gta 4 didn't have money to begin with? I had money in the bank and was losing $2000 every death before they patched it. You die five times and that's already $10000. Some people enjoy starting big fights in free roams, even with just my friends, so that wasn't even possible with the amount of money we'd lose.
